This item is used as a component to create 5.56 rounds at reloading benches along with lead, one small rifle primer and rifle powder.
Locations[]
- Enemies that use a varmint rifle or a service rifle, such as NCR troopers, can have up to nine casings on them when they die.
- A casing can be acquired after firing a weapon chambered in the 5.56mm round about 20% of the time.
- There are 25 casings for 5.56mm ammunition in each 5.56mm case box.
- Occasionally, some traveling merchants will "sell" 5.56mm casings but they will always be for free. Likewise, selling casings to a merchant will not yield any caps.
