The Great Merchant Wars was a major conflict between several groups of merchants from the Hub that took place between 2126 and 2128 after Angus, founder and governor of the Hub, was murdered in the winter of 2125.
[edit] Events
In 2126, a band of merchants seized the water tower in the Hub. They demanded anyone wanting water must pay a toll. Thus, the Great Merchant Wars began. The water merchants sealed up the town, but were outnumbered. The war raged on for nearly three years, piling up casualties, until a man named Roy Greene (Justin Greene's grandfather) managed to negotiate peace.
As part of the negotiations, a limit on the price of water was set and the Hub's Central Council was formed, composed of two representatives from each of the Hub caravan companies.[1][2]
[edit] Appearances
The Wars are mentioned only by Beth in Fallout. The Fallout Bible timeline (based on the original Fallout timeline by Brian Freyermuth) provides more detail about the events.

- ↑ Beth: "From what I've heard, a while back a group of merchants seized control of the water tower and proclaimed that they were the water merchants and people had to get water from them. The merchant war raged on for years until a man named Roy Greene - yeah, Justin's Grandfather, that's it - helped to negotiate an agreement that ended the war."
- ↑ Beth:"Well he set up the city council and set a limit on the price of water. Personally I think they should have beat the tar out of them - oh, sorry. I mean they should have showed them who's boss."
