This is nothing compared to what's waiting for you up in the penthouse.Mr. House

The Lucky 38 penthouse is an unmarked location within the Lucky 38 in the Mojave Wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas.

Layout[]

Serving as the top level of a two-level circular residence that occupies the top of the Lucky 38 itself, initially, Victor stands next to the elevator, and one will also find Jane, who can provide information about Mr. House, the Strip, and the Three Families, and will offer to buy snow globes for 2,000 caps each.

Down the stairs, to the left on the lower level, is a large, multi-screen console through which one communicates with Mr. House. If House is killed as part of Wild Card: Change in Management, later Yes Man will upload himself onto the console and replace House on the main screen. In addition, there are miscellaneous items and furniture, including safe storage containers and a bed the player character can sleep in.

To the left of the console, tucked behind a staircase is a Hard-locked terminal that opens a hidden wall panel leading to the elevator connected to the control room. If it cannot be hacked, the terminal can also be unlocked with the access codes obtained by finding a Lucky 38 VIP keycard or the platinum chip. Opening the door via the terminal will immediately turn the Securitrons hostile and fail The House Always Wins if the quest is active.

Notes[]

  • If one kills Mr. House in the control room for any reason, Jane will disappear, removing the option of selling snow globes. The achievement can still be unlocked, as the player character just needs to collect all seven to get the achievement, but the snow globes will not leave the inventory and cannot be placed on the stand in the Lucky 38 presidential suite.
  • Almost everything in the Lucky 38 is marked "unowned" and can be taken with no Karma penalty, even if House is killed.
  • Accessing the exterior penthouse via the console command tcl will reveal a door that can't be accessed. In the G.E.C.K., this door is referred to as "HouseInnerSecretDoor."
  • Both the penthouse and cocktail lounge are considered part of the same "worldspace," Lucky38World, and are technically categorized as a single exterior cell rather than separate interiors. Using the console command tcl and traveling below the penthouse will reveal that the cocktail lounge is right under and can be entered via clipping.
  • There are three Protectrons in a room in the penthouse. They are statues, and one of them is a Nuka-Cola security Protectron.
  • During the demonstration in the basement, both Mr. House and Yes Man state that the Securitrons gain the use of a grenade launcher as part of the Mark II software. However, if the player character becomes hostile to the penthouse Securitrons, they will use grenade launchers to attack the player character even before starting the demonstration.
  • There is an unused world space climate intended for this interior called "Lucky38WorldSpaceClimate," but it was assigned "UrbanWorldSpaceClimate" instead. The player character will find that the interior of this space is floating high above a barren desert with nothing of note except a smaller version of Mr. House sitting on the ground.
