Maxson is mentioned as one of the five states of the New California Republic. Little else is said about it in any of the games, but its name likely comes from the founder of the Brotherhood of Steel, Roger Maxson or other member(s) of his family. Since there is evidence that the Brotherhood of Steel itself is not associated with the NCR, Maxson was built in close proximity to the Lost Hills Bunker, and enjoyed the protection of the Brotherhood of Steel.[1] It must have been built after 2161, since no such town could have existed during Fallout.

The Maxson state does not appear in any of the Fallout games, but is mentioned in the NCR history holodisk in Fallout 2 and the Citadel archives in Fallout 3.
