Sgt. John Reise was a soldier in the US Army Reserve. Posted at the Boston Police rationing site in 2077, his skeleton can be found next to his holotape in the Mass Pike Tunnel.
Background[]
John Reise was a part of the 708th Infantry Division. Working at the rationing site, he struck a deal with Det. Francis Perry of the Boston Police Department's 3rd Precinct. Both men were responsible for scheduling guard shifts at the site, with Reise managing the Army's shifts and Perry the police shifts. The pair stole supplies intended for civilian distribution and gave them to Perry's cousin Jack to sell on the black market for profit.[1]
As reports about stolen supplies grew, Reise grew increasingly anxious. Perry's partner Detective McDonnell began an investigation into the thefts, which Reise attempted to block by claiming that the police were mismanaging the supplies and trying to blame the army for it. He ordered his soldiers to deny the police access to the warehouse housing the supplies, and ordered them to arrest McDonnell on sight.[2]
Reise then tried to set up a meeting with Perry to ask him to pressure McDonnell to end his investigation, threatening to kill him if Perry could not make him stop.[3] Reise discovered Perry while he was part way through recording a holotape, and learned that Perry planned for Reise to take the fall while he escaped to New York with Jack.[4]
