[edit] Background
Rubin and Professor Malleus began Vault 92's secret experimental program by piping white noise containing subliminal combat messages into the recording studios used by the musicians who were the Vault's primary residents, while they were listening to their recorded performances. Rubin stepped up the experiment according to Vault-Tec's instructions without informing Malleus, however, and the two of them argued about the situation. Rubin decided he would be better off having Malleus killed to get him out of the way. However, it is not known if he was actually able to kill Professor Malleus or not.
