Sister is a slaver found in Rivet City in Fallout 3.

Background[]

One of the least personable denizens of the City, the 29-year-old Sister is a beast of a man with an incredibly short fuse. Nobody knows where he got the nickname from, and even fewer manage to walk away if they make the mistake of asking him about it. Despite numerous altercations with other citizens, he managed to avoid getting thrown off by Harkness and Lana Danvers.[Non-game 1] However, he is on notice and if it continues - especially after the latest run-in with Brock - he will be kicked off the ship.[1]

Sister is well-known among the citizens of Rivet City as a murderous sociopath[2] and most steer clear of him. The mystery of his stay at the Weatherly Hotel drives Mei Wong to anxiety, as she recognized him as a Paradise Falls slaver and is afraid that he might be coming for her.[3] However, Sister is after a much greater prize. He was sent to Rivet City by Eulogy Jones to be the slavers' eyes and ears inside the city,[4] to find and secure a runaway synth, A3-21.[5][6]

Sister has been looking for it for a while, but the trail has gone cold. Most of his fellow slavers think that Sister just abandoned his mission, but Sister is still trying to find any clue, unaware that his prey hides in plain sight. His biggest worry is that Zimmer, the source of the contract, might hire someone else for the job.[7] If they do, he is ready to beat sense into them.[8][9] However, the lack of any leads is starting to change his opinion, and Sister is just about ready to give up and stay at Rivet City permanently.[10]

He is a regular patron over at the Muddy Rudder, drinking any alcohol he can get his hands on, including whiskey[11] and beer.[12] He tends to get aggressive with anyone trying to distract him from his drinking[13] or worse, try to lay their hands on his cold one.[14] Father Clifford tends to run afoul of Sister's temper with his sermons on sobriety, and Brock has to step in to keep Sister in check. Thankfully, the Rudder's bouncer is not scared of Sister or his size.[15] At the hotel, Sister is a paying customer, and an especially rude one. He prefers meat dishes, of any kind, and is very quick to anger when addressed as "Mister Sister."[16][17]

Quests[]

  • The Replicated Man: Sister's room contains a recording of the android. He can also be interrogated about his mission in Rivet City, which may require passing a Speech check, or Evil or Very Evil Karma.
  • Slave Hunt: The player can learn that Mei Wong is a freedwoman who took shelter at Rivet City and is deathly afraid of Sister, correctly identifying him as a slaver. It is up to the player to decide how to handle her case. They can report her to Sister or remove the slaver.

Other interactions[]

  • Sister has little to say outside the quests. Asking about his name will not cause him to attack, but it can potentially lock out the Slave Hunt resolution if his attitude towards the player character drops too low.
  • While killing Sister, picking the lock on his room, or stealing his belongings does not cause a loss in Karma, it will turn Rivet City hostile.

  2. The Lone Wanderer: "Well, can't you tell me anything about it?"
Belle Bonny: "Oh, sure. See, it's tied into the story about how Sister got his name. You ask him about that. He'll clear up all your problems. For good. Hell, take a dive off the flight deck while you're at it. Long as you stop pissing away my time."
    (Belle Bonny's dialogue)
  3. The Lone Wanderer: "I'm not going to hurt you. What are you so scared of?"
Mei Wong: "I suppose it doesn't matter if I tell you. I used to be a slave. I saw a Slaver on this ship, his name is Sister. I'm afraid he's after me."
    (Mei Wong's dialogue)
  4. The Lone Wanderer: "I found this recording from the android. Care to elaborate?"
Grouse: "Trail led to Rivet City. Sister's our inside man. I think he's long given up looking for that android, and is just living it up on that boat."
    (Grouse's dialogue)
  5. The Lone Wanderer: "I found this recording from the android. Care to elaborate?"
Eulogy Jones: "We got a man at Rivet City. Been looking for a long time. I doubt he's even still there. Either way, don't go sticking your nose in our business!"
    (Eulogy Jones' dialogue)
  6. The Lone Wanderer: "I found this info about an android from the Commonwealth. Care to elaborate?"
Sister: "It's none of your God damn business. Nothing really. Just some run away slave from the Commonwealth. Naturally they asked the Paradise Falls crew for help retrieving their property. The job pays well, but so far it's been mostly a distraction. I think most have pretty much given up and forgotten about it."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  7. The Lone Wanderer: "I found this recording from the android. Care to elaborate?"
Sister: "Why has Zimmer hired you too? I can't find a trace of that robot. I'm sure he's here somewhere though. Don't tell Eulogy I told you, though."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  8. The Lone Wanderer: "You know anything about an android who needed some surgery?"
Sister: "Don't know anything about a surgery, but I do know that Zimmer has put a bounty on his head. A word of advice. You don't want to be competing with me for this one. I'd hate to have to waste a bullet on you."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  9. The Lone Wanderer: "You know anything about an android who needed some surgery?"
Sister: "I guess I can trust you not to spread it around. Zimmer has put it out that he will pay to find this slave, but he wants him alive. Hey! You aren't thinking of signing up with him are you? It wouldn't be healthy for you, if you know what I mean."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  10. The Lone Wanderer: "What do you know about an android from the Commonwealth?"
Sister: "Here's a copy of the so-called 'android recording.' I'm done wasting my time on that old job. Don't tell Eulogy though. I kinda like it here."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  11. Sister: "I need another whiskey, Belle."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  12. Sister: "Beer. And don't let it get empty."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  13. Sister: "You can shove your sermon up your ass, Father. We're busy drinking down here."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  14. Sister: "Step away from my beer, Father, or I'll be raising my fist."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  15. Brock: "Size doesn't scare me, Sister. Don't start anything that I'll have to finish."
    (Brock's dialogue)
  16. Sister: "Hey, you rusty tin can. Get me some food. Meat, any kind. And don't call me Mister Sister."
    (Sister's dialogue)
  17. Sister: "Don't call me Mister, you goddamn bucket of bolts! Just bring me an iguana on stick."
    (Sister's dialogue)

Why do they call this large hulking man 'Sister'? No one knows because whenever anyone asks, Sister beats them to within an inch of their life. Sister, 29, is a bully with a bad temper. He is one step away from being given the boot by Harkness or Danvers. So far he hasn't caused enough trouble to warrant exile or worse. Most of the citizens of Rivet City stay clear of him if they can."
