What's the message?[]

What is the message? I know it has something to do about the enclave and adama airforce base.. but can someone write down the log from ED-E and post it? I really would like to know what is says! :P

If you are playing hardcore, the armor.DarthOrc 22:21, June 26, 2011 (UTC)DarthOrc

Have to agree with DarthOrc, the damage bonus is incredible but in hardcore, higher companion DT is a better option especially when attacked by multiple tough opponents at short range (cazadors, super mutants, etc). Medeasin (talk) 00:07, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

The old page showed erroneus data regarding ED-E's upgrade. The errors were +8 dps and +15 crit damage. The actual dps increase is a lot higher. While the damage only goes up by 5, the ROF more than triples. This can be seen on the arts and sounds tab in GECK. With the 20% damage increase in the more than triple firing rate, the actual dps increase is +169, or almost quadruple. The crit damage is also not +15, but only +5. I wonder how many people have chosen the armor based on this erroneous information. I've fixed it with a comparison table based on the values from GECK--One eyebrow priest (talk) 06:54, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

I got a response while in the Brotherhood of Steel's gun range in Hidden Valley. I won't edit the page unless someone can independently confirm this. - Just a lurker

After talking to Michael Angelo, seems random. UraniYum 19:04, October 31, 2010 (UTC) <- Michael Angelo mentions Helios One

I talked to old lady gibson as part of another quest, after being asked to pay 500 caps for rocket parts I stole them instead of paying. Now I'm unable to trigger further dialog with old lady gibson, making this quest impossible.Powlee 04:24, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

I was able to get a response by talking to Old Lady Gibson, but talking about ARCHIMEDES illicited no response. I tried all dialog options.--OverlordXenu 07:13, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, but it seems to me that these recordings being unlocked are semi-random. I got the final recording after completing Wild Card: Change in Management, the robot just suddenly started talking to me once I left the Lucky 38 penthouse; he wasn't even with me, nor do I believe there was much dialog with Mr. House that could trigger anything. Maybe it's time based or .... something? 77.248.210.16

I believe the quest to be triggered by keywords spoken by NPCs in dialogue. Having already killed Old Lady Gibson, I was unable to start the quest with her. After arriving at Camp Forlorn Hope and speaking with the Major I received the quest "Restoring Hope". The first part of this quest is to talk to Quartermaster Mayes about some missing troopers he sent for supplies. Asking where you should start looking causes him to mention Helios One. I believe "Helios One" is the first keyword needed to activate the quest, regardless of who says it. 23:03, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Confirmed that after receiving ED-E back from BoS, his inventory is completely empty. (very annoying - lost the spacesuit and many other very nice things). - lurker

Fame/Infamy?[]

I saved before choosing which side to give ED-E to, and followed the quest to the end down the BoS line. I got 121 EXP when I picked him up in Primm and that appeared to be it. It seems odd because that's a rather paltry amount of EXP to award, and also because there didn't seem to be any fame awarded. Has anyone else seen something different? glitch?[]

when ED-E was done being repaired the quest marker kept moving towards me, this was bothersome and actually took a couple working arounds because i was at nellis air base and until he talked to me, he was pretty much guaranteed to get nuked, and whenever he died the quest marker disappeared, if anyone else has the marker moving towards nellis air base go to it from behind not from the base, if hes close enough you'll just have him blow up. ithinkimaddicted 08:53, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

FAST TRAVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was able to save him from being missile bombarded but fast traveling to other places didn't stop him from heading towards nellis air base, he wouldn't go within range of being bombed so i fast traveled to gun runner's and ran towards him, once i got to a certain range he turned around then came ran to me and rejoined my squad, also, please sign your posts... ithinkimaddicted 10:42, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

fixed[]

i fixed him but am now unable to get the quest to start dont know if i did something wrong or what.

Much confusion about messages[]

I believe that talking to either Old Lady Gibson or Ignacio initiates the first message and the start of the quest. Both SetStage 10. I used the ResetDialogueFlags to get the dialogue options for Old Lady Gibson to reset, but talking to Ignacio about ARCHIMEDES did not give me a second message. Finding the actors who are supposed to advance the quest in the GECK is like searching for a needle in a haystack. They are dialogue results and don't show up in USE searches.--BigMill 04:38, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

I can't recall who triggered my first message, but it was neither of them. Now, Gibson can't say anything outside of selling and repairing my stuff, and for some reason the NCR at Helios are enemies despite me having Idolized rep. I also can't seem to get the 2nd message to start from any of the people listed on the quest page, except Arcade Gannon who I haven't tried yet (cos I love Boone).--86.44.142.247 21:08, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Talking to a random no-name Brotherhood of Steel soldier in Hidden Valley initiated the second message for me. Maybe it's different for everyone; random chance? --BigMill 02:08, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

I got the quest while talking to the doctor in Jacobstown. Something was said about how he used to work for the enclave in the dialog is what triggered it for me.

I played through the game twice, twiggering ED-E's quests with no problem. The third time nothing worked. I talked with Old Lady Gibson, Torres, Ignacio Rivas, and others with no luck. I also tried the console commands without success ("resetquest 001572e8" and "setstage 001572e8 10"). What finally worked for me: drop ED-E as a companion sending him to Lucky 38, then re-add him; wait 10 days; talk with Ignacio Rivas. Of those things, I suspect the 10-day wait was the key. Probably a scripting bug of some sort: I know the second message will only trigger after 9 days, so maybe something happened to set a 9-day counter on the first message. Or maybe we have to wait 9 days between first activating ED-E and trying for the message? --HarshKarma

PC section[]

A PC users section for this quest would be in order, here is something I removed till everything can be worked out and confirmed.AryeonosWhat!? 17:03, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

"You can get all your equipment back from the old ED-E by opening the console (press the ~ key). Then in the console type the folowing: prid 1732D1. Some people report a different ID like 1732CF but 1732D1 worked for me. Its a base 16 number (hexadecimal). So just take a few values up or down from there and see what works. Then type in the console the following: openteammatecontainer 1. Then transfer all the items into your inventory. Do not dismiss the new ED-E before you do this. He might disappear forever."

The Three Keywords?[]

I'm having a bit of trouble with this one, but it seems like based on what I've experienced and read on here, gamespot/gamefaqs forums, and others that the keywords are:

Keyword cue - "HELIOS One" (I got Ignacio Rivas to cue this one I believe), but I think that quite a few people in Novac and other places could cue it. Keyword cue - "Enclave" I think that Arcade Gannon cued that one for me, but I think that any of the Remnants could potentially cue it or Old Lady Gibson. 3rd Recording) ???? I haven't been able to cue this one at all, now I am definitely doing this rather late in the game (Level 30 already, already done nearly all quests/side quests), but I have walked through the BoS bunker in Hidden Valley, talked to everyone there (and randomly talked to all named and even unnamed NPCs there), AND did Arcade's side quest already.

If you got the first cue from Ignacio at HELIOS One and you have no dialog left with Old Lady Gibson, a good person to talk to is Doctor Henry in jacobstown if you haven't been to see him yet, as he will talk about his time with the Enclave (the first trigger being HELIOS or archimedes or something like that, and the second one being enclave).

Any ideas on what could cue the 3rd one or is it just bugged/time based and the keywords have nothing to do with it? I've heard both but I have stronger evidence to support keywords for at least the first two. Fishngrits

  • I for one think that this is based on time, not on" keywords." My character has been through many of the dialog trees mentioned in this article, the only one that has been consistent was at the junkyard, for starting the quest. 97.141.160.205 11:18, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

O.k another thing i checked up in the geck, there is 24 dialogue options that can trigger ED-E to give you his logs, all of them trigger both logs, so long as you hear a second trigger 5 days after the first and not in the same cell as the first. Mr.House, Veroica, Old Lady Gibson are a few with those dialogue triggers. All key dialogue options trigger both logs as both logs are handled by the same quest stage. I'm off to bed, i'll give you the full list of the dialogue triggers tomorrow. Stewart Bates 20:33, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

OK after looking into this it's become obvious that the first two trigger keywords are HELIOS and ARCHIMEDES (made obvious by how they're capitalized in the captioning). However I first visited Gibson without ED-E while getting the rocket fuel-whatever for "Come Fly With Me" and she said her magic reference to HELIOS One to the north, never to be said again. So the trick is to get her to say it again, and the "setstage" command referenced in the bugs simply does not work. WTF?? Who else (other than the other two guys halfway across the game) brings up "HELIOS"? How can I get Lady Gibson (or anyone else) to say it again? (Neither of the two scientists inside Helios One say the actual word in dialog, afaict.)--173.30.116.159 07:53, November 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • I've read through the geck's scripts on how this actually works, it's not keywords that do it as such, it's merely a script on the dialogue options, of which there is 24, that uses "setstage vEDEDialogue 10" whenever the player listens to it, it's also scripted to prevent you using the same dialogue line twice to activate both logs. It doesn't matter which key dialogue you initiate, so long as you hear it with ED-E following you. if setstage doesn't work for you, trying manually adding the script package via the console the using evp. That bug fix is on the main page.Stewart Bates 17:05, November 25, 2010 (UTC)

Quick Walkthrough[]

The Quick Walkthrough section is in need of serious rewrite. It's all messed up, y'see. It should be changed to the same format as Heartache By The Number, if possible. IncompetentMinion 11:17, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

There seems to be some confusion about the number of days required to wait between logs 1 and 2. The quick walkthrough claims nine days, whereas the detailed walkthrough only says five days. I'm not sure which one is correct. User:Neil (SM) 17:41, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

The geck says it's 5 days, it's a condition of the quest stage that handles conversation. There is in fact 3 conditions; 5 days must of passed, you must not be in the same cell and ED-E must be a companion. Stewart Bates 20:24, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

3 Logs?[]

In the article it mentions that there are 3 playback logs, I only ever seem to get 2 before being instantly contacted by the Brotherhood or Followers. Does anyone know what the third log says? I love anything about the Enclave.the third is Micheal Agilo at his shop on the strip. Adam James Walker 20:15, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • In the geck there is only 2 logs, I'm guessing they are refering to the request from knight lorenzo as the 3rd log. Stewart Bates 20:07, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Prounciation[]

Is it pronounced Eid-e or Eddy? I like to think it's Eid-e and that she's a female robot (if that's even possible). --Vault-BA 15:11, October 30, 2010 (UTC)

It can be pronounced however you want, to be technical it's creator in the first audio log calls it E D E, each letter sperately, but you can call it what you want. I personally can't help but call it EDI and refer to it as she but it has no specific pronounciation. Adam James Walker 15:16, October 30, 2010 (UTC)

Well for some reason I always say ED ED E or E-D30 (as a reference to C-3P0), but it;s most lilely just meant to be E D E, like the guy above said.JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 15:28, October 30, 2010 (UTC)

......Eddy. It's in the quest name. ED-E. Two distinct syllables. ED and E. EDD Y.

I believe it's a play on WALL-E. FNV came out two years after the movie.

I pronounce it Eddie, like it's written. Eddie was a common name in the 50s, for instance Eddie Haskell from the black and white Leave It To Beaver TV show. Medeasin (talk) 00:03, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

ED-E bug[]

If you retrieve the password from REPCONN BoS Soldiers before being contacted by Lorenzo you will not be able to validate the passwords in the quest, making it unfinishable (X360) (Seems to be fixed in Patch 1.2 on PC)

Can someone confirm this is fix on PC. Still bugged for me and asking me to find something from the dead bodies.

It is still bugged for me too on PC after 1.2 patch. ID01 01:12, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Unable to move...[]

I am hoping someone knows how to fix it as I cannot find it anywhere, when ED-E sends me the message from Lorenzo to meet up with one of the squads, halfway throught it turns into a hispanic accent, after which I am unable to move or jump, any idea how to fix this?

  • Solution:Xbox 360Xbox 360 Travel to The Fort. Lorenzo will contact you, and then Caesar's door guard will ask you to cough up your weapons. Give up your weapons to end the dialogue, and then you will be able to move again. (Confirmed on 360.) As of June 7th, this quest has not been patched, so this is pretty much the best option. Outrunning ED-E isn't possible if you quick travel (it shows up basically on top of you at the new location), so this is the easiest way. If you're enemies with the Legion, you're not playing your allegiances right! (Staying on everyone's good side until the very end makes things much easier)

When this happens, ED-E will not give the message to you, but will instead port back to Primm (unfortunately, the buff will be gone as well), but, you will be able to move around again and continue with whatever quest you were doing at the moment. same thing here on xbox as if 14 nov 216.67.8.244 03:29, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

hey i have tried EVERYTHING and nothing works, i have ran away from him, saved then reloaded, and nothing has worked, i really NEED A PATCH!

I too had this issue (Xbox). I'd trigger the 2nd log...wait 2 days...ED-E would approach me and trigger the 3rd (Lorenzo) log. The dialogue would get through a few screens and turn to some strange accent that didn't match the text. I become stuck and only able to look around (no pip-boy, weapons, conversation, etc...though still able to reload saved game thankfully).

On the main quest page, it says that people can knock-out ED-E (and follow some subsequent steps), however, I'm playing Hardcore, so this is not an option. I made a slight change to the described tactic, and have completed the quest doing the following:

- Save often, and keep a "clean" save before triggering the 2nd log...if this strategy doesn't work, you'll want a backup to revert to (hopefully the quest will be patched properly soon).

- Trigger the 2nd log -- ideally in the evening, so the 2nd full day occurs during sleeping hours, but this is not a requirement.

- Travel to Hidden Valley, wait 1-1.5 days and find Lorenzo. I've fortunately found him often in the "lower" level opposite the firing range. If Lorenzo is here, great. Wait the remaining time to bring you up to 2 days.

- ED-E should be frantically trying to reach you to initiate the 3rd log (if he's not charging at you, wait some more). However, the low ceiling usually prevents him from getting all the way down the stairs (though he still occasionally can, and will, catch you).

- Even if Lorenzo is not on this lower level, ED-E can still get temporarily wedged...which is a KEY to this strategy. ED-E is super-quick -- I cannot outrun him. You just need him to sit still for a few seconds!

- Ideally, Lorenzo is sleeping in the next room. Talk to him to wake him up. Before he speaks to you, run towards ED-E.

- ED-E will trigger the 3rd (bugged) log. You'll encounter the "normal" error. Hang tight...

- Lorenzo will approach you about ED-E, which should pull you back into normal conversation and advance the quest.

- If Lorenzo is not in the basement, you can still use the lower level/stairs to trap ED-E while you locate Lorenzo.

- If you spot Lorenzo upstairs, follow him from the basement and pop up at the nearest staircase once he goes to bed.

- I actually progressed with Lorenzo upstairs, after many saves, swearing, and dodging ED-E.

- ED-E will occasionally un-stick himself and come racing after you without warning. With a good headstart, line of sight at ED-E (and/or saved games) you can run down any of the stairs, which should stop his progress.

I have since got ED-E back from the Brotherhood. I did not experiment with terminating Lorenzo's conversation and trying to complete the quest with the Followers. So far, he's acted properly -- without any of the many other bugs listed (fingers crossed). Sorry for the length, but I hope it helps some of you out there! Cheers, --66.227.219.174 04:08, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

This may have something to do with starting the brotherhood quests after receiving both of the first two logs from EDE, or trying to do this while doing "I Could Make You Care" at the same time.(Xbox 360)

- The above directions seem to fix the bug, but it looks like you have to give ED-E to the BoS for it to work. Canceling dialogue with Lorenzo without lending him ED-E did not return the HUD or mobility for me. This sucks because I really wanted to give him to the FotA. Does anyone know if it is possible to complete this quest with the FotA AND fix the bug? If so, please explain. Thanks. FourDog 19:58, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

Alternate Fix [X360]: If you really want the FotA buff... Kill Lorenzo at the risk of becoming hated by the BoS before ED-E can deliver the message. I think this bug occurs mainly when you've already visited the BoS Hidden Valley Bunker beforehand. I tried the above fix in several different ways and the only thing i could accomplish was giving away ED-E for the crappy armor upgrade. So instead I killed Lorenzo and booked it as fast as possible from the area until they did not aggro me anymore. I came back with "merciful thug" status and was met with a single knight who told me they'd "have a talk" with me if they saw me topside. Alternatively, you can just send ED-E back to the 38 and never ever finish its character mission. This was after I had completed "Still in the Dark" by usurping McNamara and was in the middle of the "I could make you care" quest line. Veronica keeps saying "What's up" to me but I heard you can correct this by restarting the console. Also you might want to have the bunker key from pickpocketing beforehand since the exit door will lock down and spell your doom. The fix above this can be considered the BoS route and this one can be the FotA route.

Just did it again by sending ED-E back to the base and stealth killing Lorenzo with C4 (as much "stealth" that C4 would allow of course). Quest Triggers fine and Veronica (who was outside at the time) has no problems. The thing is though that even though ED-E was upgraded with the energy zap and it's in his inventory, he can only use the red laser... --71.198.205.217 March 24, 2011 running oldest FO:NV version

BOS all dead[]

I blew up the brotherhood bunker, will this quest still be possible to complete?

It depends, are the Followers dead? If not, then yes it is still beatable...

ED won't attack?[]

So I gave her to the Followers for the weapon upgrade but now I got her back and she won't attack anything. I tried putting her on aggressive and she didn't do anything, and when I go to the wheel she has no weapon when I tell her to sue Ranges. Is this a glitch? Should I just drop her and get Rex is she won't shoot?

do you have her set to use melle?--JoeHanSon 03:03, November 14, 2010 (UTC)

I was checking it's setting after I got it back and it was set to melee after the upgrade on the PS3. Reset to long range and Great Blue Balls of Fire!!!! --Drkkgt 07:08, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Tried switching from melle to ranged attack and back again (several times), even tried switching between agressive/passive a couple of times and still Ed-E won't attack??? It will play the music, but doesn't fire??? Now I can only use it as a mule (with annoiyng music). Can someone patch my Ed-E up please; because out of all the "compagnions" I like it best, but could use some back-up once and a while... RezAdieu 12:23 May 20, 2011 (NL)

BoS option[]

After I handed ED-E to the brotherhood I waited a few days and a message told me yo go to primm. I went there and fou d ED-E in the Nash residence, and I spoke to him and I think I told him to follow me, but he seems to have disappeared since then. I don't have his perk so I know he isn't waiting ( I should be saying it) and I've checked the lucky 38 and I do not have Rex with me. I have searched all over primm, does anyone know where my shiny amoured ED-E is?

Save corruption glitch (360)[]

I would like for someone else to test this. While playing on my 360, I entered the Scrap Yard garage, talked to Old Lady Gibson, and got the dialogue for the first log. I promptly went outside, waited 9 days, and fast traveled to HELIOS One. The game froze, and when I attempted to reload the autosave from waiting, it continued to freeze over and over. When I attempted to load it from the "load game" option at the main menu, I received a message something like

This save has downloadable content which is no longer available. Certain items will no longer be available. Do you want to load this game anyway?
Yes
No

I chose "yes" and it said

The storage device is no longer present. The game could not be loaded.

I tested it and it did not occur when I saved the game without waiting. I don't know how far-reaching its effects are (for example, I'm unsure if leaving the Scrap Yard will allow me to wait safely again). I would simply like for someone else to try this to see whether it's my game or an actual bug so we can add it to the page if it is.—Neo(talk) 07:22, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Edit: Just found out that fast traveling even without waiting froze the game. My save remained intact, however.—Neo(talk) 07:24, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Strange Voice?[]

I just had the weird spanish voice thing happen, right at the end of the message from Lorenzo the last sentence had the weird voice and what was said in the audio didn't match the text. Then, right afterwards April Martimer contacted me. She even mentioned something like "Hi, didn't want to interrupt, he sounded truly riveting. I'd like to make a counter-suggestion." This was inside the BOS bunker, and I hadn't just spoken to anyone. I just walked down a flight of stairs and ED-E just ran over and initiated conversation.

Also interesting was that instead of marking the location of the BOS patrol in the REPCONN building, the quest objective had me come directly to Lorenzo. (Or, obviously, to the Followers lady). Therefore this might only occur if you've already visited/done stuff in the BOS bunker.

Right, same thing happened to me. I had already gained access to Hidden Valley, and that is how it played out for me too. Strange alternate Lorenzo voice for one line, and an immediate follow-up message from Mortimer in which she has additional dialogue acknowledging that Lorenzo had just finished talking.

Okay, for the third paragrapgh, which i'm assuming is a third person, i can answer why you got a different message. There is four radio dialogues for ed-e to play based upon conditions, if Lorenzo is dead before ed-e plays his message then April will contact you directly first with a new message. There is one each for Lorenzo and April as normal messages. The fourth has the condition that you visited Hidden Valley prior to ed-e giving you the message, which is the message you recieved. Log 1 Triggered By Brotherhood...[]

It says on this topic that only the second log is triggered after talking to Lorenzo, however I just finished talking to him and got the very first message afterwards. Anyways, just figured I'd mention this in case anyone thinks it may be useful to add to the topic or not (I won't do it unless anyone else feels it should be added). Vulpes Inculta 08:59, November 14, 2010 (UTC)

There isn't actually a third log, is there.[]

It's claimed in the article that there is a third log, but I can't corrobate that claim ANYWHERE. Not in my own game experience, or my best efforts with google.

I think it's bunk, something someone irresponsibly added to the article.

Can anyone here prove otherwise with details about this supposed third log?

See the above article on the 3rd log, i checked throught the geck and there is only two. Stewart Bates 20:08, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Quest Rewards[]

I am the sort of person who has to know every possibility exhaustively before I will accept quest rewards like the one for this quest, but alas, there is no data on the wiki about the stats of the attack upgrade, only the defensive upgrade!

So I did some snooping, and while I don't have the PC version (so no GECK), I found a post on Gamefaq's where someone looked it up. I don't know how to cite this and it's from gamefaq's forums... but it's apparently based on the GECK, so if someone wants to check and verify, I think this would be delightful to add to the main quest page.

From: Gamefaqs Forum Posting

" Cutlass_Jack Posted 10/29/2010 12:43:45 PM I decided to be less lazy about it and look in the GECK. The Defensive Upgrade is +8 DT. The Offensive upgrade makes the weapon 45 DPS (up from 37 dps)

Oh and before I forget, make sure you dont leave anything in ED-E's inventory when you upgrade. You get a whole new version of him technically. Vapid_Zero Posted 10/29/2010 12:49:24 PM So they are exactly equal bonuses.

Well, since I absolutely abhor the BoS, and I rather like ED-E's normal look, I guess I'll just get the offensive increase. I knew the inventory in ED-E would get emptied out, but thanks for the heads up. The wiki info on the rewards lacked a statistical result of the rewards, hence this thread. --- This Game Is Broke, Gives All Points To Target Holder!1! - DS Cutlass_Jack Posted 10/29/2010 12:56:04 PM Its very odd though. I can't see any base DT value for ED-E. So he may have no armor at all unless you take the bonus. (But I'm not the most geck-savy player around.)

On the weapon upgrade the damage per shot (not overall dps) goes up by exactly 5 points. (from 15 dmg to 20 dmg) Vapid_Zero Posted 10/29/2010 12:58:39 PM Damn, I didn't notice the DPS, I usually ignore DPS because it's just a way of estimating. I really don't know why they bothering showing a DPS, a raw DAM rating is all I need.

The defense perk seems to yield more, statistically. --- This Game Is Broke, Gives All Points To Target Holder!1! - DS Cutlass_Jack Posted 10/29/2010 1:11:16 PM On a whim I looked beyond flat damage on the new gun. The Crit rate and Crit Damage are also slightly improved on the new model. From 1% rate/10 Crit dmg to 1.5%/25

I also looked at the visuals for both in the Geck. He loses the bumperstickers/licence plate on either upgrade. Main difference is the body look shinier on the armored one and rustier on the weapon one. Gun on the latter has a slightly longer barrel. "

So in summary, Defensive bonus = +8DT (which we knew), and Offensive Bonus = +5 DAM, +8 DPS, +.5% Crit Chance, +15 Crit Damage.

Thanks. --Njofreak 14:54, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

ED-E Disabled?[]

I know it's in the page already under the bugs section but does anyone know how to fix ED-E when she stops attacking and following after a battle?

I basically gave her to the BoS and when i retrieved from Primm, everytime we got into a battle she would get stuck in the one spot and eventually teleport to my position if i got too far away or went through a door. Im really pissed at this as now she's useless. Anyone know how to solve this? Ive tried firing her to lucky 38 and Primm, but it didnt work.

Happend to me as well, the only thing I could do to temporarily fix him was to fast travel or go through a doorway, but it will happen again later. I eventually just gave up and got Rex instead :/ --Pongsifu 23:10, December 9, 2010 (UTC)

Won't get the message from the BoS[]

I've got both of the messages unlocked, but no matter how long I wait, I won't be contacted through ED-E, I've waited about 10 days now, sent ED-E back to Primm, got him again, and still, I don't get the message, Does anyone know why?

BoS bodies don't spawn in REPCONN[]

Playing the Xbox version, latest patch; upon reaching the top floor I get the quest update prompt to search the BoS bodies but unfortunately there aren't any! If I get the BoS password from another body elsewhere in the world will I still have the opportunity to upgrade ED-E's guns with the Followers? --Mister Six 18:49, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Gave ED-E to Lorenzo TWICE[]

Xbox version here with patch. I gave ED-E to Lorenzo for ED-E My Love. ED-E went back to Primm after a few days. I never picked it back up, but got its perk back, so everything was fine. Fast forward a few days. I talked to Lorenzo again and he still had the "Let me borrow ED-E for awhile" conversation option. I selected that and lost ED-E's perk. I waited a few days. Never received a companion returned message. I followed the "ED-E My Love" quest marker and found ED-E battling cazadores near Camp Golf. Further, though I'm not playing hardcore, ED-E was mortal and actually blown up by the cazadores. I had to reload and rush over to prevent its demise. I talked to ED-E and successfully made it a companion again.

Maybe not related, but Lorenzo has now disappeared from the Brotherhood bunker, which is preventing me from completing the "Still in the Dark" quest.

Lorenzo disappeared for me as well - but he returns when ED-E is completed, so you can turn in the filter components then. Not sure what the results of giving him ED-E twice will be.

Companions can be killed if they aren't companions I believe, even in non-hardcore mode. Erusun 06:17, January 20, 2011 (UTC)

You can use a human follower in the quest beyond the Beef. That eliminates them.DarthOrc 04:15, July 12, 2011 (UTC)DarthOrc

Inventory not Reset[]

On the PC version, my inventory was not reset upon regaining ED-E. It still had everything I gave it before.

It wasn't for me either, I upgraded him through the Followers.

Not for me on the PC either. The inventory disappearance problem was solved in a patch a couple of months ago and has not recurred since. Given how sloppy Bethesda is about correcting bugs, we should certainly acknowledge it when they do correct one. Wunengzi 01:20, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Quest rewards backwards?[]

Doesn't it seem strange that the Followers of the apocalypse, who are all about peace, love and prosperity, grant ed-e a stronger weapon, while the Brotherhood of steel, who love to blow things up with high tech gadgets only increase his armor? Seems like they should have been the other way around. Zac hemker 05:51, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

They are peace, love, and prosperity but don't seem to be above enforcing their ideals (humanity zealot types) so guns makes sense for them. Whereas the BoS are all about hoarding technology so they aren't about to share some cool technology with the likes of you, but giving your bot some extra metal so you can run "their" missions is ok. --Drkkgt 00:57, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

ED-E Doesn't become hostile on XBox 360 after completing Dead Money[]

I had ED-E and Veronica as companions when I started Dead Money, ED-E was upgraded by the Brotherhood of Steel. I got the message he had returned to Primm and after completing Dead Money, there was ED-E in Nash's shop, he came right along when I asked. Erusun 06:13, January 20, 2011 (UTC)

He was hostile for me after Dead Money. I had not upgraded him however and my other companion was Cass. I was able to re-recruit him using the VATS trick. 83.209.237.86 18:39, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

BoS Upgrade and Still in the Dark[]

According to the article, "# ED-E cannot be upgraded by Lorenzo if you have completed the quest "Still in the Dark". I have completed that quest, and did get Knight Lorenzo to upgrade ED-E after doing Still In The Dark. Maybe it should say that you can't get Lorenzo to upgrade ED-E if you HAVE NOT completed that quest? Maybe it's for an old version? But anyway, I did that quest, and Lorenzo upgraded ED-E, and now it weighs 2 pounds. Snooldex 10:43, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

What is the console command to trigger the second log?

April not calling till BoS found in Repcon HQ[]

I had found hidden valley but not entered and trigger the first two messages. Later I got the BoS message but not April. Once I was in Repconn and found the two BoS soldiers then April contacted me thru Ed-E. PS3 1.04 --Drkkgt 07:03, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

First of all, it's "through." And yes, that's supposed to happen.

I just realized now why (I'm having that issue). You're told to take it to either them or one of their patrols. That's kind of an issue if you aren't welcome there yet because the patrols are all dead. The BoS doesn't know it, so unless you found a patrol before you did this quest, taking it to a patrol is still an option (as far as anyone in the game knows). Ganondorf 01:35, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Boone's gun?[]

My brother was playing for awhile. Boone was his 1st companion. Strange thing is, my brother has Boone's Scoped Hunting Rifle. He can't use it because the ammo is non existant (MFA is the ammo used). He dropped the gun, Boone didn't pick it up and neither can my brother.Right now, Boone is stuck with a machete. How do I fix this?

- This shouldn't be on this talk page, not related.

LMFAO Boone-related article on ED-E's talk page?

Scrap Metal or No?[]

Regarding the following three criteria -- 1 Repair Skill of 65 (no need for Scrap Metal is listed); 2 Science Skill of 65 and Repair Skill of 35 (no need for Scrap Metal is listed); 3 Scrap Metal plus the other required ingredients.

My mistake regarding my earlier note. It appears that Scrap Metal is not needed unless the Repair or Science skills are too low.

Constant Freezing[]

On the Xbox 360, every time I try to talk to Gibson while ED-E is my companion, the game freezes when I try to exit the dialogue (when ED-E would try to give me the first log). I've tried this several times all with the same effect.

I believe this to be a bug but have no idea how to fix it.

I've encountered the exact same problem as you and I finally got around it by visiting an NPC other than Gibson to trigger the 1st audio log recording (Doctor Henry in Jacobston, in this case). When I returned to Gibson, my dialogue with her triggered the 2nd audio log recording and the game didn't freeze on me.--174.0.106.101 18:07, June 19, 2011 (UTC)

Mobile Version Vandalism[]

The mobile version of the page has been vandalized. Instead of giving a detailed walkthrough, it just says "PENIS".

EDE MyLove vand

Really?

Is there a different programming format in the mobile version that allows this to happen? Answers would be welcome, and a fix, more so.

Thanks,~~BiaxialEmperor~~

How useful of the vandal to leave his real name! Wunengzi 01:18, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Searching Ed-e[]

When I was fighting some enemies, Ed-e died by blowing up. I came back to the area later when i realised that I had given him some valuable items to carry (alien power cells and other valuable ammo), but there was no body there to search... Is there any way I can get my stuff back or am I fucked..? -DazMan-86.46.171.13 14:27, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

Holorifle-Shots after finishing Dead Money[]

I had Ed-E in the party when i was knocked out in the Abandoned BoS Bunker and he was automatically send back to Primm (didnt speak to Mr. House before). After finishing the DLC I fast travelled to Primm, recruited Ed-E and fast travelled back to the bunker to pick up my stuff.

I stored my Holorifle in Ed-E's inventory and moved some items into my own to perform repairs. I was low on ammo, so I decided to keep the Holorifle in Ed-E's inventory and to buy/find the required ammo first. Later I moved the Holorifle to my inventory again. From there on I recognized Ed-E was using Holorifle-Shots beside his usual Laser-Shots. Ed-E seems to randomly choose between the Holorifle-Shots and Laser-Shots but also seems to prefer the Holorifle-Shots for very long range and the Laser for mid- and low-range. Ed-E has no upgrades yet.

Is this a bug or did I overlook something?

Page cleanup[]

Can someone check through the article? I saw a few instances of he and it, shouldn't it be one or the other? I just don't have time atm to do it myself.--SilentDays 13:18, July 11, 2011 (UTC)SilentDays

Pictures[]

I was wondering if anyone could take pictures of the two options and post them.

ED-E my love question[]

IF ED-E wasnt present with you throughout the trigger conversations such as the one with Old Lady Gibson can it be re-triggered while he is present?

Brotherhood's gone[]

If the Brotherhood of Steel has been destroyed (I'm going through this playthrough with House), and Lorenzo is the only one who contacts you, does that mean this quest can't be completed without the Brotherhood present? --Kastera (talk) 03:03, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

One would assume (without testing it myself) that the game would force you to choose the Followers of the Apocalypse. I'm not certain on this, but it's the most logical solution. Yes Man default 04:02, August 31, 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm, we'll see. Now if only ED would respond to the triggers like he's supposed to. --Kastera (talk) 21:28, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

brotherhood vs followers[]

i was wondering if there is a difference when it comes to ede my love. not on the subject of ede but other changes, ie if you give ede to lorenzo does he come up with any new weaponry, since he was looking at Poseidon research, or do the followers develop anything beneficial if you bring ede to them.

also when you upgrade ede's weapons does the laser look different , cuz i upgraded with the followers and the laser looks the same.

Hi, I gave my ED-E to the Brotherhood for the upgrade. In it's inventory were several items, all were returned, except for the Fatman it was carrying. During the time it was gone, I did buy a Fatman in similar condition from the Brotherhood merchant. This sound familiar to anyone?

Another possible topic to trigger ED-E's messages.[]

Speaking with Thomas Hildern at Camp McCarren will trigger ED-E's messages. To be specific, his statement when he is asked "Tell Me More About The OSI". 96.238.26.56 05:02, January 24, 2012 (UTC)

Thomas Hildern triggered log 2 for me. I exhausted all conversation topics with him having ED-E and Arcade Gannon in tow. --FordGT90Concept 05:44, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

got bot the 2 dialogs and.... nothing

i've been waiting maybe 1 week in game after i got the second dialogs with ed-e and for some reason, the BOS won't contact me, neither the follower of the apocalypse, is it something i'm missing?

NOTE: All of the non-player characters that can trigger audio log 1 can trigger the second audio log so long as they haven't triggered the first one.

I was able to get both log 1 and 2 from Ignacio Rivas. I already used up the option for Old Lady Gibson. Upon talking to Ignacio once about the ARCHIMEDES, I exited dialog and was given audio log 1. I went back to Ignacio and hit all of his dialog options. Upon exiting dialog again, I was given audio log 2. The quest seems to be progressing normally after that.

Deletions without explanation.[]

I have had two users delete a large amount of accurate information in a concise chart form in an appropriate format without a word of explanation. Is this some sort of rule? This does not encourage participation when work is deleted without explanation.--One eyebrow priest (talk) 11:15, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

No reason in the edit summaries, although the one person used rollback so they couldn't put one. But from the look of the information that should go on ED-E's page, not the quest page. User:Great_MaraMessage 12:26, September 9, 2012 (UTC)
I am more than happy to abide by whatever format is preferred, but I feel that the chart gave a great deal of clarity. The deletion without comment is what is discouraging.----One eyebrow priest (talk) 13:44, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

Major Quest Bug[]

I've encountered a major bug in this quest that is aggravating me to no end. I waited the appropriate amount of time between the first and second logs, but after taking ED-E to half a dozen options to trigger the second one nothing has happened. And I spaced those attempts out just in case I was wrong about how much time has passed. After a number of quests and the entirety of Dead Money, not to mention multiple spurts of waiting and a lot of fast travel, I finally gave in and just forced the second log with the console- but now it's been long in excess of two days and I've still yet to be contacted for the next section, and I can't seem to find the command which would trigger that. Can someone provide a workaround or the console command to progress? 24.224.103.204 02:43, June 26, 2014 (UTC)Frostwyrmwraith

April wont call and console doesn't work[]

I got to the point of a quest where I must be contacted by Lorenzo and April. Lorenzo called me and April didn't. Is there a specific triger for her to call??? I tried to move the quest where I must deliver Ed-E but nothing happened. 84.240.12.176 18:11, January 27, 2018 (UTC)
