The dress[]

The article says the player should take the dress from Vera's skeleton; this is wholly unnecessary, to disturb her remains, since there is the second dress in the safe right after the door to the elevator and the speaker. 109.230.141.22 17:49, August 5, 2014 (UTC)

Last message in BoS bunker[]

The final goodbye message played in the BoS bunker after leaving the Sierra Madre is obviously Christine, not Vera. It's a personal message to the courier, not a pre-recorded message by Vera. She would have no reason to record a message for someone she's never met, regarding event that happen more than 200 years after she died.

What does she say that makes it a personal message for the Courier? Paladin117>>iff bored; 21:27, February 20, 2015 (UTC)

"Wait a moment. Before you go, I... we... hope you've enjoyed your stay. Farewells can be a time of sadness -- letting go, difficult. As a guest of the Sierra Madre, you know that truth more than anyone. Frederick Sinclair believed that one's life could be made anew every day, that fortunes were more than the wealth in your hands. Love, life, family, those to care for and those who will care for you: to those who know these joys, the Sierra Madre holds little they don't already have. Out in the world, beyond these walls, that is your chance to begin again. I hope that you will return in happier times. Until then, the Sierra Madre, and I, will hold you in our hearts."

The original welcome message would have changed unless Christine changed it, and if it was really Vera talking, when did she record it, and why? Who would she have been talking to and why would it play that message from her after you leave? It makes no sense that Vera would have recorded that.

Perhaps it's a generic departure message to guests that are leaving the Sierra Madre? A sort of good bye, thank you for your stay perhaps we'll see you again? Either way, without proof that it is being spoken by Christine it's speculation. Plus, what would Christine know about Frederick Sinclair? Richie9999 (talk) 04:09, February 21, 2015 (UTC) EDIT. Heck, it says that in the broadcast "I... we... hope you've enjoyed your stay." That's the staff of the Sierra Madre wishing their guests well. A message from Christine wouldn't include that. Richie9999 (talk) 04:14, February 21, 2015 (UTC)

I think we're all also forgetting one important piece of info. This message plays at the end of the add-on no matter what. Even in the event of (guess what) Christine's death. Is Christine radioing you from the afterlife then? Paladin117>>iff bored; 04:17, February 21, 2015 (UTC)

A generic message meant for anyone doesn't fit. Vera wasn't even working for Sierra Madre. She was just one of the headlining acts, and she recorded the promo for it, but she wasn't an employee. Of course Christine know who Sinclair is, she's been there the whole time the Courier has and know the same things about the backstory. Having Vera record a message like that to anyone who leaves the casino makes no sense at all.

Vera's voice was used for all starlet holograms, she was used as voice talent. As such it makes sense. Christine would not hope that the Courier enjoyed their stay as she is well aware that the Sierra Madre is a heavily polluted cesspool that slowly kills you. A pre-War recording would be unaware that the Sierra Madre is far from pleasant. Additionally, as the message is broadcast to a radio, the same one that invited you to the Sierra Madre in the first place (which COULDN'T have been Christine), it is even more without doubt that it was a pre-recorded message. Additionally, having Vera record the message makes a great deal of sense look at it the same way people in customer service industries wish you a pleasant day, or the flight attendants with their goodbyes, it's a farewell in that vein, but much less personal as it is pre-recorded. Richie9999 (talk) 18:46, February 21, 2015 (UTC) Furthermore, how would Christine know the backstory of Sinclair? Did she read all the messages the Courier found? Listen to all of the Holotapes? Interview Dean Domino about Sinclairs motivation? That's somethign the Courier might do, and something that Vera would be well acquainted with. Richie9999 (talk) 18:47, February 21, 2015 (UTC)

There is no was this is a message from Christine. It is clearly a generic goodbye and look at certain parts of the message

  1. 1 why would Christine say "Before you go, I... we... hope you've enjoyed your stay." your stay was horrid and she knows it. There was nothing to enjoy. And who is the "we"?
  2. "As a guest of the Sierra Madre" the courier was never a guest of the Sierra Madre, (s)he was a victim of kidnapping, and the this is obviously a message from someone who speaks for the Sierra Madre, something Christine could never (and would) never do, Vera on the other hand was a headline act and was Sinclair's muse. The conclusive, and only, correct answer to the "argument" above[]

Allow me to put this argument to rest once and for all, even though Paladin117's answer should have already done so. The message is not from Christine, because if Christine dies before she ever finds out it's possible to escape the Sierra Madre, the farewell message still plays. It's that simple. Freezing[]

I went through the hell of the Villa and and the Sierra Madre, only to find that every time I try to save in the casino's basement on the way to the vault, the game freezes. When I use the elevator to go back to the executive suites, though, saving works just fine. This is the third time I have played through Dead Money, and it is the first time I have seen this bug. Has anyone else experienced this? - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:21, November 8, 2015 (UTC)

Hostile?[]

Why does he become hostile when you've opened the Vault door when he's in front of it? Why do the alarms ring when he's in front of the door? Does Christine do that? --User:SaiyanElite (talk) 17:23, March 20, 2016 (UTC)

what am i supposed to do when christine refuses to move???

No way out[]

To quote the article: "Elijah is immune to damage as he approaches the vault, up until combat is initiated and he reactivates the forcefield barriers blocking access to the elevator." The article has no mention of the barriers ever coming down again, and AFAICT they never do. The terminal inside the vault loses the options to enable or disable the security system, meaning that killing Elijah at the vault just breaks the game. There's no way to reach the elevator without using console commands. 66.214.99.253 03:34, March 26, 2020 (UTC)

The barriers leading directly to the elevator never come down, you're meant to run back the way you entered the vault, being forced to take the long way to the elevator. Aiden4017 (talk) 03:53, March 26, 2020 (UTC)
Thanks Aiden. I was in the middle of adding to my comment when you made yours, so forgive me if I mess up the Edit Conflict, but: "... and even with Travel Light there isn't QUITE enough time to make it back via the Maintenance tunnels. The "sneak past him" option works easily, but I can't get killing him and taking the long route out to work at all, even with no mistakes in the run: it seems just plain broken." 66.214.99.253 04:00, March 26, 2020 (UTC)
Try jumping down from the catwalk in the room with all the speakers rather than taking the stairs, usually works for me. Aiden4017 (talk) 04:11, March 26, 2020 (UTC)
I can't believe this needs confirmation, but yes, as Aiden4017 said, you can indeed kill Elijah and escape the vault. That's the way that most players beat this DLC, and, of course, there is absolutely no way the DLC would ever have been released if that weren't possible. That the DLC was released means that you can kill Elijah and escape the vault. The idea that it "breaks the game" is both wrong and comically, laughably absurd. Escaping with the gold *is* possible[]

According to the article, "If the Courier is overencumbered by the gold bars they picked up from the vault, they will not be able to escape in time." Shouldn't that be qualified by saying it's the case if the Courier is taking the vertical "parkour" route back out again, but that with the right stats and good timing, a gold-laden Courier can sneak out the way Elijah came in...? --MiaowMinx (talk) 22:09, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

I removed that part altogether, thanks for pointing this out. Honestly, the whole article could require a makeover, as right now it is hard to read and bloated as can be imho. –FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 04:15, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
