Jumping the gun[]

On my part but also this article's, arguably -- going to go ahead and pre-emptively call it: this place being described as part of the Los Angeles area is probably an error on the part of the Vanity Fair writer who based on the contents of the article is deeply unfamiliar with the setting, story, and overall concept of the Fallout franchise.

The numerous set pictures showing temperate forests that don't exist in the LA area even IRL (and the fact that this location's photo has said forests in the background, creeping over the settlement walls) suggests to me that this is probably the Philly mentioned in FO3, and the show is going to take place primarily on the East Coast, with the main character and her companions travelling there on some sort of mission very early on. --DirtyBlue929 (talk) 19:10, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Obviously we can't say that for sure, and I think we should go on the available information until proven otherwise. But I suppose it wouldn't hurt to attribute the statements to Vanity Fair within the text ("According to Vanity Fair,") LaymansReign (talk) 20:43, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Good call. Regardless of whether that particular theory of mine pans out (I'm less convinced a few hours later than I was immediately after reading the article) there's enough questionable phrasing and room for error that until release nothing outside of official Bethesda-released info should be taken at face value. Entertainment journalists make assumptions and get details wrong all the time, especially when it comes to stuff they're thoroughly unfamiliar with (and like I said, given the contents of the article this writer had probably barely heard about Fallout before doing these interviews). --DirtyBlue929 (talk) 00:27, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
