To do or not to do[]

Am i the only one that thinks that giving a bunch of crazies a bomber is a bad idea? They really could have added alternative ways to complete the quest.

Suggesting to NOT make the Rebreather is plain idiocy.--174.21.229.193 16:37, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Why? If you don't already have what's needed, it's not really worth hunting down supplies/skills for. The mission can easily be completed without it.Mehas 17:29, October 31, 2010 (UTC)
The mission aside, underwater breathing is convenient and 3% DR (applied before DT) for face/eye gear (wearable with 1st recon beret) is similarly ... convenient. There are also no power armor needed helmets that work with the rebreather ranging up to 5DT IIRC.50.71.99.254 14:40, July 1, 2012 (UTC)

i cant get the rebreather the guy who is supposed to give it to me just says go to hell and runs to his bed and falls asleep

Did you kill his girlfriend? Or mess up his personal quest in some other way?--109.110.26.67 06:17, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Lack of Wikia Continuity[]

Every other article in the wikia suggests that Volare is the umbrella quest for all the boomer quest's, yet the Volare specific article only refers to the very final part of the quest. This needs to be fixed!

How?[]

I spent good five minutes swimming around the lake, trying to figure out what to do. The article would do well to explain what "attach the ballasts to the underside of each wing" entails, because it doesn't explain shit to me, who only got a marker pointing to the middle of the sunken aircraft. --Mqduck 10:44, November 25, 2010 (UTC)

Swim between the engines from the front and a hazy shape will appear and the option to place the devices. Bwilderbeast 11:55, December 24, 2010 (UTC)

Loyal's Speech Check?[]

Am I the only one who thinks Loyal is hinting more than he says when you ask him about who is moving the bomber? He mentions robots are being sent to break the bomber into pieces for transport and mentions another person(s) assisting with this (this is the optional speech check with an intelligence of 7 required). Does anymone know? I think this should be added to the article, and if needed, add a spoiler alert if it reveals information about later events. Thanks. JessKa89 07:08, December 9, 2010 (UTC)

I second this, the speech check of 75 is required to succeed in warning that the salvage operation will attract the attention of the NCR, which implies that it doesn't go well if they continue as planned. Bwilderbeast 11:56, December 24, 2010 (UTC)

Mini-Boomers[]

I cant give them any rockets at all, Just the same dialouge option and the sudden change of voice actors.

  • I had the same problem, you need a charisma check of 7 to get the correct dialogue options; see here: [[1]].

Does anyone know if there's a difference in fame between giving them rockets compared to just sweet-talking them? I already finished but I'm curious about it. 24.19.227.186 22:00, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

Odd way to get there?[]

I dont know if this has happened for anyone else, and didn't want to add it to the bugs section for that reason, but I managed to teleport to Calville Bay. I walked to the Boulder Beach Campground from Boulder City, then swam to the B-29. I hadn't read the quest yet, any thought any shore would do, so I fast traveled to Boulder Beach Campground again. Then, I read more, and was gonna swim to the other shore, and remembered I could Fast travel to the B-29. But, when the screen loaded, I was in Calville Bay instead, with never having been there before. I was wondering if anyone else had had this happen as well.

That's not a bug. that's just so that you don't spawn in the water.Icommandoxx 22:33, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Fuel?[]

Has anyone else figured out how they are supposed to fly the plane without fuel, none of the boomers seem to have enough science to convert the plane to electric (there are plenty of small energy cells, microfusion cells, and fission batteries available in the Mohave Wasteland). Fuel has not been mentioned once in Fallout: New Vegas that I can remember. Yes there is the oil rig that the Enclave use to fly their vertibirds, but how are the boomers supposed to get some?--Firefly45 09:05, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Not sure. Cuddles managed to acquire some somehow, but I'm not sure if they'd be able to get enough to fly the bomber much. User:Great_MaraMessage 09:12, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
You missed the Boomer biodiesel refinery, I believe. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 10:21, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
I know I did, what section of Nellis is it on? User:Great_MaraMessage 10:23, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Problem with Equiping the Detonator?[]

I can't find the option to equip the detonator even I am standing next to it. Is there anyway to fix this? 221.127.28.9 09:51, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Actually never had a problem with that myself. After attaching the ballast under the plane, you have to go back to Callville Bay and stand on the platform which gradually submerges in the water. You should hear a beeping, the same as if you've activated a landmine. When you hear the beeping, you should be able to equip the detonator. brokentool (talk) 12:17, January 23, 2014 (UTC)

Decision Changing[]

If I have told the boomers to aid the NCR at Hoover Dam, but then switch to the Independent route, can they still help me?

Nearest pressure cooker for rebreather[]

Did some looking around on Nellis Airbase and couldn't find a single pressure cooker anywhere. Closest I could find is in Fields' shack, and it spawns reliably there next to the stove. Not the biggest hassle if one can't complete the 45 science skill check, and one can collect the money from George (Fallout: New Vegas) on the way. I like doing this early on as the Rebreather is very handy. RedSnt (talk) 19:56, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
