The Silo is a quest in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Lonesome Road.

Getting to the bunker[edit]

From the pass to canyon wreckage, the player has to follow the canyon to the ridge from which the entire Divide can be seen. About halfway through, a large pipe provides access to a hill to the southwest and duffel bag. Northwest from the pipe is the Hopeville silo bunker entrance.

Entering the bunker leads to an access tunnel and on to a wrecked room. "You can go home Courier" and "Lonesome Road" graffiti marks the walls. This first room, offers exits to the north and the south. The northern door is activated through the middle terminal that's beyond the player character's ability to hack.

Find a way to open the blast doors to reach the Lonesome Road[edit]

To open this door, the player needs to follow the southern corridor and release ED-E from its pod, through the maintenance terminal. ED-E will inform the player of its ability to hack restricted terminals and demonstrate it by unlocking a commissary terminal on the wall. With the ED-E in tow, the door can be unlocked. The blinds in front of the console will open, revealing the ICBM resting within the damaged silo.

Reach Hopeville[edit]

The opened doors lead to the silo proper. The hydraulics access level three door can be opened through the Easy-locked terminal for minor loot. In the middle of the corridor lies a damaged eyebot with the first eyebot upgrade circuit board for ED-E.

The way to Hopeville leads through the silo. Inside the silo lie various containers, including an Easy-locked desk with the security code for the 2nd level of the silo. At the top of the stairs is a room defended by several automated turrets and a sentry bot, though these can be disabled with the terminal outside the room. Inside the Hard-locked desk is the 1st level security code for the silo.

Beyond lies a storage room with the first marked men the player sees. Beyond the room is the irradiated top floor of the silo chamber, with a damaged security terminal and a working turret that can be turned over to the player's side.

On the opposite side of the chamber the player enters is the office of the base commander, General Martin Retslaf. His body was mummified over the two centuries, following his suicide. His office give the player the opportunity to grab the maintenance codes for the mainframe, as well as access Retslaf's security stores, which contain a plasma rifle, a couple of plasma mines, and other loot. The security robots can be deactivated with the terminal.

Through the southern doors back in the silo chamber lies the main entrance area with a destroyed sentry bot and two marked men with arc welders in the main room. In the room to the right lies the mainframe which can be accessed through ED-E. This is necessary in order to unlock the silo doors.

When the doors open, several turrets and sentry bots engage in a full-out battle with several marked men. Should they eliminate them, they attack the player. They can, however, be hacked through a nearby terminal to become friendly to the player. Down the access chambers lies the last security checkpoint and the door into Hopeville.
