Biography[]

The Lone Wanderer was born Albert on July 13, 2258 to James and Catherine at the Jefferson Memorial, the staging ground of Project Purity.
Catherine died shortly after giving birth due to cardiac arrest as a result of complications with childbirth. After this, James abandoned the project provide a safer upbringing for the child, fleeing with him to Megaton, and soon being able to gain access to Vault 101, with the help of then-Paladin Cross.
Albert's childhood is kept a secret in order to shelter the child from the outside world, and to keep up the pretense of the social experiment for which the Vault was constructed.

Much of the Lone Wanderer's childhood is lost in a blur of white light and voices, which the friendly tomboyish Nadine much later on in his life attributes to a brain surgery operation conducted by tribal cultists from Point Lookout.

What is known is that for the first 19 years of his life, Albert lived happily in Vault 101 without incident, but in 2277, 200 years after the Great War, his beloved father James disappeared from Vault 101 without any explanation.
With the help of his friend Amata -the daughter of Vault 101's Overseer-, the young Vault dweller managed to leave the safety of the Vault to begin a new life on the surface while following suit in search of James in the ruins of Washington, D.C..

Upon first leaving the Vault, he had to adjust to the magnificent bright sunlight that hit his eyes. As soon as his eyes were alright with the brightness, he built up his skills and then walked over to the settlement called Megaton, where he got approached by the town's sheriff and mayor, Lucas Simms.

Mister Simms promised to give the Lone Wanderer information about who could possibly know more on the whereabouts of his father if the Wanderer himself would disarm the nasty atomic bomb. Upon agreeing to this, Lucas told him that Colin Moriarty may know more, so the Wanderer walked over to Moriarty's Saloon, and got the information he wanted.

With this new information, Albert deducted that the Wasteland would most likely be too dangerous to tread in the security armor he took from the security officers that tried to prevent him from escaping Vault 101. He needed some better armor. So he asked Lucas Simms if there's a place where he could get it, like a general store. Sure enough, Lucas directed him to Craterside Supply. Over at Craterside Supply, he met up with Moira Brown, who gave him the Armored Vault 101 jumpsuit. This appeared a much better armor than the security armor he wore, so he put it on. The armor not only made him feel more protected, but also seemed to have given him a better understanding of conventional firearms, which ultimately proved to have him be more sufficient with them.

Moira then asked him to assist her in writing the Wasteland Survival Guide. One of the missions he had to do to was to traverse a Minefield. Figuring that he might as well do this and making his way over to the Minefield, he came across the Scrapyard, where he heard sounds of violent struggle and gunfire. Walking over to the noise in order to see if anyone needs help, he came across the first friendly dog he ever met; Dogmeat. Dogmeat and the Lone Wanderer soon became pet and master, but their relationship slowly but surely developed into best friends.

He made his way further over to the Minefield, where he managed to disarm and take a considerable amount of land mines. However, he soon felt a very sharp pain in the shoulder; someone shot at him! Using V.A.T.S. to scout the area, he noticed an elderly Wastelander named Arkansas, armed with a Sniper rifle! Knowing there was no way to talk himself out of this, Albert shot and killed Arkanas, went to explore the Minefield a little further and stopped at the playground before returning to Moira Brown in Megaton. He informed Moira about how he was successful, but the dangers of walking through a minefield with a sniper shooting him caused him to take a break from completing the Survival Guide.

After this, he went on to venture forth into the Capital Wasteland, fighting creatures such as Radscorpions and Super Mutants along the way, and eventually came across Galaxy News Radio. Using a Fat Man he found nearby, he killed the threatening Super mutant behemoth and entered the building.

Inside the building, he came across Three Dog, who asked him to go to the Museum of Technology to retrieve the Virgo II dish and install it on the Washington Monument, after which Three Dog will help him. Not only did this result in Albert achieving information of James possibly having set off to Rivet City, he also got information on a location of an old weapons cache.

Heading off to Rivet City, he found an old friend of his father's; Doctor Li. Li told him that James went over to the Jefferson Memorial. Killing the Super Mutants that inhabited the Memorial, Albert came across some of James' personal Holotapes. One of these tapes indicated that James has left for Vault 112 already.

Walking over to Smith Casey's Garage, which held an entrance to Vault 112, he progressed past the front desk and into the back room, killing some Radroaches and Mole Rats.
He activated a switch located on a wall that operated a large hole in the floor, opening the door. Proceeding down the stairway, down the next set of stairs and to the bottom, he soon enough found the Vault 112 doorway. Putting on the Vault 112 jumpsuit he received from a friendly Robobrain, he went down into the tranquility lab, entering the single only operational tranquility lounger.

The tranquility lounger set Albert off into a virtual reality simulation called Tranquility Lane. After having talked to some of the locals, he walked over to a girl named Betty who wanted to play some sort of game.
The first game he got from her sounded fun enough; make Timmy Neusbaum cry. He refused, and went walked around Tranquility Lane, being approached by an old lady named T. Dithers. She confirmed him that none of it all is real, and informed Albert about the fail safe.

He soon enough located the abandoned house that contained this fail safe, where he found some objects. Activating those objects gave off individual different tones. He compared those tones to the music that played around, and used that information to activate it.
He did so, selecting "Chinese Invasion" that summoned a number of Chinese Soldiers who proceeded to murder the residents of Tranquility Lane, with the exception of Doc the dog, Betty, and the Lone Wanderer.

Betty/Dr. Braun told Albert that Doc the dog was in fact James, upon which the Lone Wanderer exited the simulation.

After having a conversation and short reunion with his father, Project Purity was put back on track. James and his son went back to Rivet City, where James was talking to Madison Li.
After this, James decided to take Madison, Albert and other scientists and assistants along to the Jefferson Memorial to re-start Project Purity.

Albert made sure the Memorial was safe of all Super Mutant threats, so that the scientists could enter the Memorial safely. It was then when James asked his son to perform some repairs around the Memorial.
However, the entire reunion was cut short when the Enclave storms the Memorial, demanding ownership of the Project. James refused to cooperate with Colonel Autumn, and -for the sake of humanity- flooded the room with radiation, attempting to kill Autumn but killing himself in the process.
This was the last time Albert ever saw his father alive, as James then pressed himself against the glass door of the activation room, telling his child with his dying breath to "Run!" as he falls to the floor, sacrificing himself so his child could live.

After fleeing from the Jefferson Memorial building with the remainder of Project Purity staff, Albert got overcome with the grief of losing his father and went back to his house in Megaton, where he reflected on the situation for a while. He then decided to go take his anger out on some Raiders, recalling that Three Dog announced them having some sort of camp at Evergreen Mills.

He made his way over to the camp, taking out every single Raider he saw, as well as the Super mutant behemoth that was held captive there. He then made his way inside, and eventually obtained The Terrible Shotgun.

This Combat shotgun being unique and more powerful than a regular one made him realize that there must be more such unique weapons across the Wasteland. He deducted that weapons are a form of technology, and thus headed on back to the Museum of Technology, checking its terminals for information. He did not find any direct information, but did see something that peaked his interest; #000 on one of the terminals. After reading this entry choice that was signed by "Prime", Albert noticed it had changed to "#001". Curious, he opened 001 and took a look at the next screen. It showed a series of numbers; 9, 19, 30, and 49. Taking note of the name of who signed the first entry, Albert deducted it to likely be a nickname or something, then took a look at the numbers. He noted that 19 was a prime number, only divisible by 1 and itself, and selected it. The screen changed to show "#001 confirmed". He continued to do this on 2 more terminals, choosing the prime number that showed on each one, eventually successfully obtaining a note that instructed to meet up with Prime in the old diner near Jury Street Metro Station.

He made his way over to the aforementioned diner, where he found Prime's dead body and the Xuanlong assault rifle, a much more powerful unique Chinese assault rifle.

Vowing to use this powerful gun to put an end to the Enclave and all other evil in the Wasteland, Albert needed to just get his mind off of things for a while. So he went back to Megaton to continue helping Moira on completing the Wasteland Survival Guide. One of the missions he had to do to was to encounter some Mole rats on Tepid Sewers to test the Mole Rat Repellent. After noticing and informing Moira that the Mole Rat Repellent was useful for little more than playing games of Wack-A-Mole Rat, he soon got asked to see if Mirelurks have any sort of intelligent and organized way of life.
Not killing any Mirelurks along the way, he reported back to Moira, who gave him the Shady hat as a reward.

Finally doing everything he could to help complete the Guide took him just long enough to be able to cope with the grief he felt, for the time being.

So after completing the Guide, he made his way back over to the Citadel where he enlisted the help of the Brotherhood of Steel and Star Paladin Cross to retrieve a G.E.C.K. from Vault 87 for use in a soon-to-be-recaptured Project Purity. Because the G.E.C.K. was in a highly irradiated chamber, Albert unlocked the cell doors to free a friendly Super Mutant called Fawkes, who decided to repay the Wanderer by helping him retrieve the G.E.C.K. - Fawkes didn't want the Wanderer to face the deadly amounts of radiation alone.
Once the G.E.C.K. was retrieved, Albert got captured by Colonel Autumn -much to his surprise to see the Colonel alive- and taken to Raven Rock. There, President Eden presented Albert with a canister of modified FEV for insertion into Project Purity, which would poison any mutated creature drinking the purified water. Instead, Albert refused to obey this instruction, taking the modified FEV along to have it studied at the Citadel. He then talked Eden into self-destructing himself along with Raven Rock, leading to its destruction.
Upon exiting Raven Rock, Albert met up again with Fawkes - who got himself a new toy. Asking Fawkes to come along with him, the friendly Super Mutant joined the one who gave him freedom and he considered a friend.
The Lone Wanderer and Fawkes then made their way back to the Citadel, and soon after, Project Purity got recaptured with the aid of Liberty Prime.

There, after finally having killed Colonel Autumn with a .32 pistol to avenge his father's death and his own capture in a poetic way of sorts, Albert and Sentinel Lyons were faced with the dilemma of who would enter the radiation-flooded chamber and activate the project.
Being a true hero trough and through, Albert decided to follow his father's example and activate Project Purity himself.

The Wasteland was then finally given the greatest gift of all: fresh, clean drinking water. But not long before Albert got knocked out as a blinding light flashes before his eyes.

He awakened two weeks later, and found himself in some sort of bed, being greeted by Elder Lyons. Lyons explained that the Lone Wanderer and Sarah Lyons were both knocked unconscious due to an energy spike in the purifier and were found and brought back to the Citadel. Sarah had not yet recovered from her coma.

Elder Lyons also explained the consequences of Albert's actions, including the destruction of Raven Rock. This made him decide to join the Brotherhood in their mission to distribute the newly-purified water and to hunt the Enclave remnants. This hunt would eventually put Albert in control of the orbital strike that destroyed Liberty Prime, which he in turn used in an ironic way to to destroy the Enclave Mobile Base Crawler.

Physiology[]

Albert is a real Daddy's Boy and an Educated Swift Learner due to the high Intelligence he inherited from his father, with a knack for Medicine and Science who, due to having grown up in a Vault, had almost no need to fight or exercise. Hence, his physique is average at best. Having grown up in a mostly-dark environment also affected his overall perception on his surroundings in the outside world. Indeed, he has to rely on his wits, luck and charm - the latter of which reflects on how his fellow Vault dwellers had nothing to do but talk to each other and read. It is mostly owed to his luck that he ended up surging the Wastelands, saving the Capital Wasteland, and surviving various doses of radiation and violent encounters, due to being very inexperienced in combat. However, despite being aware of the necessity for violence for survival, Albert has always remained a Child at Heart and friend of the animals.

Aquired Training[]
