Bitter Springs[]

Because this is a game and not the real world, characters should not be expected to behave as they would in the real world. It's more likely differences between the graphic novels and game are due to seperate individuals working on them, human error, artistic license (horses appearing in the graphic novel), etc. Mictlantecuhtli 09:16, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Huh?[]

Whoops... I guess we did do it simultaneously. And hello! Are you "moved over" from The Vault now too? Brantmeierz (talk) 00:18, October 10, 2019 (UTC)

I came back from a pretty long spell of inactivity to find out about the merger, so ever since then I've been limiting myself to editing content here and seeing if I can do anything to facilitate the process. You should be able to contact a bureaucrat (the Discord has information about the merger, and I talked to Tagaziel there) and get your user rights transferred here as well (I didn't have any prior experience editing here, and that's how I got mine), although I still am trying to get accustomed to the new practices and community here. I'm not 100% sure about what's going to happen to The Vault and how the merger is ultimately going to get carried out, but it seems like for now the best thing I can do is get integrated here. Advertising[]

He had his website on his userpage so that counts as spamming links. I've blocked him. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 11:29, October 10, 2019 (UTC)

Questions[]

We use American English here, I was under the impression that the word dialogue was that. Also what I got from the GECK files, where the term dialogue is used by Bethesda. About the game statistic pages, we capitalize those. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:48, October 10, 2019 (UTC)

Navbox[]

Hey pretty useful change on the navbar links. Can you also change to color of the expand button to our usual color? Blue is hard to see. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:35, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Class[]

I'd leave it capitalized because it sounds a statistic to me, and we capitalize those. But if Tagaziel thinks otherwise, suppose decap it, if he has his good reasons. Jspoelstra (talk) 16:26, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

I've deleted them. Jspoelstra (talk) 17:09, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Alexis Iacono[]

You did the right thing posting that talkpage message on their page. We can't tell if it's really her being anonymous. See what happens now I reverted it. If it's really her, I'll probably ask her to create an account and we'll talk it over, maybe going through Fandom too. Jspoelstra (talk) 16:29, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

I've reached out to her on Twitter and confirmed that she'd like the information to be removed. This is a matter of courtesy and I've removed it - we should respect our creators. Tägäżïël 21:20, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Grammar and stuff[]

What exactly do you mean that my edits are being reverted? Am I doing something wrong that is requiring them to be undone? I'm a writer so things such as awkward sentence structure stand out to me. I just thought I was making things easier to read.-Isis Ad Victorian! 17:17, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Sorry[]

Hey, sorry for making a mess of the note over at the Med-Tek Research page, I was just gonna fix the name at first but then thought the note wasn't very good at describing where it was, in fact I didn't see it until I was right on top of it, but that didn't turn out so well. Someone undid the name fix though for some reason. Lord Inioch (talk) 04:35, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

Well, here you are able to speak in complete and comprehensible sentences. 😄
The reason for why "trash bin" was changed back to "can" is, this wiki uses American English – "trash bin" is BE. (I'm no native, and what I learnted in school was BE, so that didn't came to my mind, either.

In the sublevel to the east outside the room Prevent is found in there is a skeleton in a trash can which pulls the lid closed when the Sole Survivor approaches.

Give it a second try (with "can"!) after some rewording. 🙂 -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 05:33, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
That's a bit confusing since the object is literally named "Trash bin" in-game, but I guess that's not as important. I'll keep it in mind for the future. Lord Inioch (talk) 00:39, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
I'll keep that in mind when I ever visit that page again. Or find "trash cans" at other locations, where there are actually "trash bins" placed in-game – as an argument against a possible revert by the Great Mara. 😉 -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 03:29, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Response[]

All bugs need to be verified by someone else in order for the tag to change, I didn't see either a 'verify' or 'verified' tag so I put one there, That was the extent of my involvement/knowledge, don't really understand what you were talking about regarding JP. There wasn't any reason behind why i choose individual icons instead of single one, feel free to change them if you want. Branebriar1930 (talk) 15:24, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

A tiny favor[]

Could I convince you to instead make/use a category Category:Vault-Tec Workshop holotape and note images instead? I am in the middle of a big project to recategorize everything from "holodisk" to "holotape" so it will save me some time down the line. And of course, I would appreciate it a lot! -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 14:38, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Okay, will do.
What about splitting those into tapes and notes as for F76? For example, Automatron and Far Harbor have a combined category, but Nuka-World (and Creation Club) a category that's named only "note images" (though none for disks/tapes yet). -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 14:45, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
I plan on having notes and holotapes separate (Fallout 4 notes, Fallout 4 holotapes, Far Harbor notes, Far Harbor holotapes). But if there is only notes, we don't have to make the holotape page. Just got done with FO76, and FO4 is next. Just have not yet started. Anyway let me know if that sounds like a good idea. And thank you! -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 14:50, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
It does! Going to assist you, then. (But might stop the category thing for today.) -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 15:00, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
Sorry to de-rail your project! :( I appreciate your help all the time! -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 15:35, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
You "de-railed" nothing – my decision if, when, or why I start or stop doing something. 😜 As for that matter – when are you going to make a break? -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 15:54, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

( You don't have to use the summary comment in the recategorization anymore. It's clear enough what you're doing now. Jspoelstra (talk) 14:00, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

You already posted the comment on dozens of pages. Just the first 5 or so and then maybe every now and then is enough to see the intention. Jspoelstra (talk) 14:10, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Impressive![]

Wow you are soo fast. Like, super fast. Teach me those skills sometime. I bet they are just those "learn from experience" skills huh? Angry face. Buuuut I really appreciate your help. If anything, I should be the one serving you certainly not the other way around! :D I am thankful none-the-less. -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 18:20, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Interwiki[]

Our Russian friends will be happy we did this, because they already had the notes and tapes split, so that's easy. For the other interwiki languages that don't have them split, take a pick between the holotape category or note category. I have to think some more about it if there's a better way. Jspoelstra (talk) 19:18, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Re:Yao guai[]

I can consolidate it on my next break, since I missed it while skimming. It should be mentioned higher on the list since it is a definite. Great Mara (talk) 19:32, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Hyphens[]

Because that is the proper format, as used on pretty much every other page.Branebriar1930 (talk) 17:52, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

You can propose a change in discussions, otherwise leave it how it is.Branebriar1930 (talk) 18:58, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Feral ghoul variants[]

I like what Ecks did to resolve the issue - he added a new parameter in the character infobox for subtype, so now the race is just "Feral ghoul" while a new line specifies what variant of the creature it is. AllYourFavorites! (talk) 04:23, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

UCP'd[]

I had a feeling that would not work anymore, since talk page and achievement pops ups don't, but I figured it would give it a shot. That is a shame, though. It was a good way to tell people there is something going on to pay attention to. -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 14:57, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Yes, it's UCP. Must be. Jspoelstra (talk) 16:10, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Kbd[]

Wait with those kbd codings on pages. We were removing the tt coding and now you're adding them again, with those kbd codes. We need to discuss this. Jspoelstra (talk) 17:19, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

The edid doesn't have the typemachine font in xEdit, so I suppose they don't get them here. Jspoelstra (talk) 17:21, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
I see. I've messaged Eckserah, I'd like to hear what he says to be sure. Jspoelstra (talk) 17:43, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

76 Navbox[]

Hey, I might've jumped the gun on that change.

Essentially, the terminology we use on the wiki is a little different than how it is presented in game.

  • What we call Primary Statistics the game presents as S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
  • In FO4/76, the secondary statistics image folders do not exist, so we are inventing a name for them.
  • In FO3/NV, there is no primary statistics. In the interface\icons\stats\, we see the images labeled "special_strength", "special_perception" etc. This shows that they're actually referred to as SPECIAL both internally and ingame.

The issue this creates, is that we cannot use SPECIAL to describe both the stats and the character progression system. I named it "Player" (short of Character Progression, which cosmetically affected the table. Characters was already taken) as a placeholder until I could come up with something more fitting.

I wanted to do this so the navbox made more sense to people that weren't dataminers or wiki veterans. This can be reverted if you'd like until we can find something that works for everyone.

I've already put a merge tag on the primary statistics page. Ideally, I'd just say we merge SPECIAL with Primary statistics and go from there. It's silly having 2 completely barebones articles on the navbox.

Tactics consumables[]

I don't see it. Feel free to change it. Jspoelstra (talk) 15:00, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Diamond City Blues[]

No, "The" shouldn't precede a quest name. You don't see it anywhere on this wiki to my recollection (unless the quest's name starts with "The"). Jspoelstra (talk) 16:20, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Re: Known members format[]

Thanks for the feedback! I encountered an issue with these userboxes on mobile - they don't display the image and the alignment gets messed up. I want to investigate other ways of implementing this that would be mobile-friendly, as a good chunk of our readers will be browsing on their phone while playing console.
Axed Scribe-Howard (waster93) (talk) 00:53, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Class[]

Class means nothing in this game, it would make more sense to include RACE data, as that actually assigns information like Base resistances, immunities, keywords (for things like Ghoul-slayers weapons, challenges, etc).

Realistically, this would be redundant if we were to include this information on the creatures page or subpage. Standalone, these lists don't really feel like a finished article. I want the info to be visible, I just don't want people jumping through so many links to find it scattered all over.

Add-on cut content[]

If you have 3 entries or more for the cut content page, you can create a category for it. Otherwise, just put it in the add-on cut content/items category. Jspoelstra (talk) 12:18, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Help pages[]

They do work, sometimes with a redirect. But all of them are showing up in Special:WantedPages, trying to get rid of them where possible. I deleted some in archive pages, also made some new http links on forum pages. Jspoelstra (talk) 20:29, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

RE: 1950's style[]

Haha, thanks for pointing that out to me. I originally was going to write "in the style of civilian 1950s clothing" but decided "styled like civilian 1950s clothing" sounded better, I just forgot to chop of the front part of the statement. - Sigmund Fraud Talk Contributions 14:57, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Far Harbor holotapes and notes[]

I copied them from the Far Harbor section of the Fallout 4 holotapes and Fallout 4 notes navboxes. Jspoelstra (talk) 15:07, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
