FO1/2 interactions[]

I made a template at Template:Interactions FO1, although I still find it hard to use this conditional syntax. Any comments/suggestions? Ausir(talk) 15:20, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, items can be modified in FO1, even if it's just two of them: Plasma Rifle -> Turbo plasma rifle and Power Armor -> Hardened power armor. Ausir(talk) 23:40, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

Template:Create article/quest/Fallout:New Vegas[]

I am to understand that you protected this template, so just as a reminder, Fallout:New Vegas will come out soon. So, I'm asking that when it does, you could change the template heading from {{upcoming}} to {{Quest project}}, because then all of those quests will qualify for the Quest project. Thanks! Ghouly89 (Talk) 04:51, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Dialogue files[]

PorterBot didn't quite convert all of the dialogue files; it missed the ones in the Fallout demo, like SKIPPY.MSG. Wanna fire it up and get those? Nitty Tok. 21:22, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Verify template for use with bugs[]

Hi Porter. The template seems to be working fine within the articles; changing the message text and color after 14 days, but does not seem to be adding the page to the Category:Verification overdue page. Can you think of anything that might be causing this? Thanks.   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 06:05, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the update on progress. I'd been thinking that, if the pages need to be edited to force a refresh on the Cat page, a possible workaround would be to get the bot to check the pages in the Verify category (say once a week), and make an edit to any page that is showing as overdue. Feasible?   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 09:43, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Do you have to have admin/bureaucrat privileges to operate the bot?   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 10:38, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the update :) I am still considering my options, but would probably need some assistance/advice setting up and configuring as Python would be a new language for me. If I could analyse the script you're using on this site to do the updates, this might help with understanding the site-specific functions and syntax in a known context. Also, if I was actually to proceed, setup and operate a bot, I do think at the very least I would need some sort of nod from administration; 1: to set up a second account (for the bot), and 2: to verify that I am sufficiently trusted to operate a bot on the wiki. Thoughts?   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 10:48, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
Well you've convinced me :) The family file is one of the vital areas that I would have needed to be certain on. Currently downloading the packages to have a closer look. I have noticed the toolserver site seems to be down at present, so am unable to get a build of pywikipediabot. Will try again later. Thanks again.   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 11:28, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

Admin[]

I have started a forum, I'm just waiting for one of you (Ausir or you) to grant adminship. Nukey talk 19:40, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

No, i'm just a little giddy, sorry if it seems that way. Nukey talk 23:33, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Problems[]

The whole website seems really buggy right now. What's going on? Every time I hit "preview" for an edit, or "submit", I get directed back to the page I edited, with all the changes lost. Is this a major problem that is being taken to Wikia Central? Ghouly89 (Talk) 04:54, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry[]

Very Sorry for messing up the Fallout 3 locations project page, was just trying to add my name to the participant section and appearantly it screwed the whole page up.

Sorry.

Templates[]

You look like a really professional wiki editor, and I was wondering if you could help me out at one of my other wikis. We are trying to create a set of main templates for things like stubs, deletion and stuff like that, but we dont have that much active users, and I very little knowledge on the creation of templates so I was wondering if you could help me and the wiki out?Mr Zurkon 08:17, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Back from break[]

Oooh. I like the ideas for the quest charts. :) Now that I'm back, I can start making some progress on my too-large to do list also. Good to see you again. Cheers.--Gothemasticator 09:02, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Better late than never[]

Hahaha, no problem. It's nicer to have a user welcome you than some bot, anyway. =) Telos 10:20, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks![]

I also recommended you as a potential future hire. :) Ausir(talk) 11:15, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Sure, I'm somewhat busy lately, but I should have more time for editing The Vault soon. Ausir(talk) 23:45, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

???[]

It said in a box, you had left me a message, but there's no message from you. What's up with that? Edit: Oh, I think I saw what that vandal did, removed content and stuff from pages?

Plants[]

Why was the Mojave Desert Plants article deleted? It isn't speculation because they are found in the screenshots. Also, the names of the plants weren't speculated, they were just given random names since none of the plants are given names, like the ones in Fallout 3.Tezzla Cannon 17:12, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hunter Man[]

I suspect abuse of multiple accounts, to wit, Halo Lover. Is there a way to check? Do we have a procedure? I know Wikipedia's got a whole battery of bureaucratic process for such a thing. Do we?--Gothemasticator 22:16, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, dude.[]

Just wanted to say, thanks to you and all the other admin's/beauro's for keeping all of we rabble's crap in line to maintain an orderly and fucking WAY useful wiki. THANKS! Nuka Kulcha 02:55, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Archive tool[]

Thanks for that. Works well, and I did read your warning about the case-sensitivity, so I'll watch out for that. But this will come in very handy. I intend to move ahead with cleaning up discussion pages within the week, and you just saved me an awful lot of manual labor. Cheers.--Gothemasticator 05:46, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

Adminship requests[]

Sure, I have no objections. Ausir(talk) 14:32, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

My Welcome[]

Hi, ive just made a new welcome, tell me what you think of it and if there's anything i should improve on. NOTE: If you have seen the film "Borat" then you will know what the yagshemash. and chenquieh things mean. I aslo copied and pasted the whole thing to your talk page so i think the welcome is a bit screwed up but i'll sort that out.

==Tezzla Cannon's Welcome==

Help Page[]

I also want to make another user page where people can ask questions for me to answer if they need help. How do i do that?Tezzla Cannon 18:32, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

Rollback[]

Hi, since most of my edits consist of undoing vandalism, I was wondering whether you could give me the rollback privileges.
With New Vegas coming out soon, I could certainly use it :) --Anon (Talk) 07:13, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!
I thought about applying for adminship, but not yet, as I'm currently busy on another wiki. Maybe before Nev Vegas comes out :) --Anon (Talk) 07:27, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Category[]

I feel that the "Category:The Pitt mentioned-only content" should be split into Category:The Pitt mentioned-only characters and The Pitt mentioned-only places (which already exists, but is under the Category:The Pitt). Is it okay with you if I do that? Ghouly89 (Talk) 02:32, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind. By using my better judgement (which is what I should do from now on), I went ahead and did it. Ghouly89 (Talk) 03:05, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

H4rkn355...[]

... is the preliminary name I've given to my bot. I've been running some tests using the add text, replace and touch scripts, and am now comfortable with the syntax for basic commands - actually going so far as to run a full touch on the Verify category in the process :) Have at this stage initiated a forum item to seek approval before proceeding to establish an account for the bot. Nitty has made a comment that he thinks it should be named Ph03n1xBot, and I am aware that a bot should be readily identifiable, so would this be recommended?   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 04:42, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Bot (yours)[]

Nah, I'd rather you don't have the bot add the blank template. I will manually add each one filled out, because new users might start filling them in with wrong information/not know how to fill them in, so I want to get it right the first time. :) Ghouly89 (Talk) 07:44, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Also, what's your final say on my adminship request? Ghouly89 (Talk) 02:21, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout Tactics: New Vegas[]

If it turns tu be true, I guess we'll need to make Fallout Tactics a disambig and change all existing FOT links to links to Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Ausir(talk) 08:15, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

I moved FOT back to Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel (didn't notice that Nitty moved it just to Fallout Tactics, I think it should be at the full title, since it's actually more of a part of the title itself than it's the case with "A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game" for FO1 and FO2. I guess we can leave the redirect, though. I'd still change the Fallout Tactics links to Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel if it turns out to be true, in order to avoid confusion for people who might assume that a link to just Fallout Tactics means the iPhone game. Ausir(talk) 08:28, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

Bot[]

I went on the handling bug additions forum and you want bot helpers. I would like to help. Please may i have a bot?Tezzla Cannon 09:47, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

New formatting template?[]

Just a thought I spontaneously had, but do you think this variation of {{Notebox}} could be used strictly for the transcripts of holotape-holodisk files from Fallout / Fallout 2? Again, I was just playing around with this, if green is the only color you want on the vault, then I will ditch the idea. Ghouly89 (Talk) 03:46, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Interactions template[]

Ouch... I should've been watching your edits a bit more closely :/ lol Thanks for your work - it's always appreciated :)   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 07:48, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

The showcase provides a good example of how the new demand-based template can be put to practical use, and looking through the data has also got me wondering... When I re-worked the FO1 template, I made the "Faction hostile if attacked" section into a yes/no field with no additional text. Should this also include the name of a faction made hostile?   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 08:02, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Well, you might have a bit of occasional company in the template zone now :) As to the interactions template, I'll temporarily add back in the ability to name factions, but feel free to overwrite the template with the showcase one. I've added a doc file with some basics, but there are a few fields I left without a description, also due to unfamiliarity with FO1.   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 09:37, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Help?[]

Hey Porter, I'm having a bit of trouble with one of the Templates at the C&C Wiki and I can't seem to identify the problem. I'd appreciate your help.

Burst[]

Hah! It ain't you that's done it to me. I'm job searching, upping my hours at work, I just moved... plus some personal stuff - all good, but less time for the wiki. I'm not ditching The Vault, but I surely don't have time for more than sporadic appearances, at least for a while.--Gothemasticator 15:29, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

TestPhil[]

You know that vandal who made that page, TestPhil, should i remake that article? As it is a location in Fallout 3, located outside of Anchorage, accessible with only console commands.Tezzla Cannon 16:39, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Template[]

Well, that explanation makes sense... if it wasn't for the fact that this template works perfectly, as do many other templates. It's just that one little bitch that doesn't want to suck up and do it's job. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 20:41, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Portal design[]

Hey Porter, I've been wondering, could you help me out in designing a main portal for navigation at the C&C Wiki? So far it's all FUBAR, making navigating a hassle. I'm not asking for actual content (that I can do myself), but the framework to fill in, since I suck at making nice, elegant portals. I'll owe you (another) one. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 09:42, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Both actually. Given that the portals on the Vault are based on generally the same templates, I was thinking maybe you'd be able to create a similiar layout for the C&C Wiki, except with placeholder links and content that I'd later replace and implement. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 17:03, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
That'd be very, very welcome. Also, congrats on hitting 50k. :) Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 21:42, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Hey[]

Hello fellow Wastelander! I sure wont make an atomic apocalypse destroy my mood:)

I just want to say that this page is awsome, it has helped me alot. Ask me for any services

you may. ANYTHING! :)

New info?[]

I think i found some more info on New Vegas here. Can you please tell me if it is true or not because i want to know first before adding it to the New Vegas articles. Tezzla Cannon 15:44, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

States[]

I think merging them in Commonwealth articles makes sense. Ausir(talk) 23:19, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

JES is the only source with a full list, but the list was originally made for Van Buren and given that Sawyer is now in charge of FNV, I'd consider it at least semi-canon anyway. Ausir(talk) 10:47, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

I need your almighty coding powers[]

I am the admin-o-crat on Fan Futuristics Wiki and I want to do a news feed like the one on the mainpage of this site but the right columns are too small, any idea how to widen them? [Composite 4] (My Talk)

Thanks so much, appreciate it. [Composite 4] (My Talk)

State maps[]

Done and added. BTW, 16 edits more and you've hit the 50k edits mark! Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 18:48, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Well, it speaks volumes of your ability to focus and dedicate yourself to a cause. Looks good on your resume. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 19:17, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Fixed width[]

What do you think of making the article area fixed width? It obviously has both advantages and disadvantages. Ausir(talk) 10:05, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

I put it at Forum:Fixed width. Ausir(talk) 10:43, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Melee category[]

Vegas (according to the Strength screenshot) is using Melee, not Melee Weapons, right? Right.

Should the Vegas (and Van Buren) Melee weapon articles use Category:Melee, or Category:Melee Weapons? Or should Category:Melee redirect to Melee Weapons? Nitty Tok. 17:12, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

I think a melee category would be better. Nukey - (Speak to me!!!) 17:14, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
Well, the category is supposed to contain weapons which use the skill in question, so it should probably rather be separate. I think the categorization needs a revamp in that regard though; currently people are using the various weapon skill categories both for "this weapon uses X skill" and "this weapon is X type of weapon". For example, there are FOBOS weapons in all these categories although FOBOS doesn't even have skills in the traditional sense (skills in FOBOS are roughly equivalent to perks in the other FO titles). -- Porter21 (talk) 17:52, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
Got it made, then. Thanks. Nitty Tok. 22:32, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

WTF?[]

why did you remove my edit on the super mutent page there was no info on the new vegas super mutents so i added some and a picture are you a f****** idiot the point of wiki is to add info about things when its not there and improve what over people have added not to completly remove articles because your afraid of change thats vandalism and if it isent changed back or edited to it is somehow acseptable i will put it back over and over i have had to deal with you vandalising pages i have made in the past and i dont want to have to deal with such stupid crap again

modify lol

i added information that wasent there no one had made a section about FNV super mutants and i added one you did not replace you just auto deleted what i added your a backward **** and im not swearing im saying for you to go f*** yourself whats so offencive about 3 little stars and a f infront of it huh —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crisscross1993 (talkcontribs). TM[]

The Reflection's name is ReflectionTM. Should it stay as Reflection, or can we put the superscript TM in there somehow? Nitty Tok. 22:32, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Alright, thanks. Nitty Tok. 12:12, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Command line parameters[]

Hi Porter. Just noticed you have your bot changing the base/ref ids to 8 digit format, and was interested in what parameters you are using to achieve this? Assuming a starting point of replace.py with base id and ref id tags   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 08:16, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Would adding -nocase to the command line allow the pattern matching portion to be simplified to "([formid|additem|refid)([ ]*?)=([ ]*?)([0-9abcdef]{5})\r\n"? P.S. That is a useful example, as it is something I've been considering ie how to incorporate conditional searches and replacement. :) P.P.S Happy to play my part, although I recognize some people have more qualifications and experience, that I tend to defer to ;)   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 08:38, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Vandal[]

I'm a vandal? I'm going to ban you for being a bot without a flag. No human could make this many edits so fast. :) Ausir(talk) 12:11, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Shush, Porter! He's mad at me. Nitty Tok. 12:12, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

hey[]

i tried to do something about that testphil page you deleted but was unable to delete the page or flag it for deletion. is it impossible to do that or did i just miss it. i just deleted the page content tho =) Lachanadan 22:36, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up[]

Hahaha. That was actually my mistake, and not the bot - well spotted! I have been running it semi-automated, due to the complexity of some of the variations, and that particular line was a manual edit. I double-checked my old user-fixes section and all is good there ie no |360}} replacement tags. Currently, I'm using nocase regex variations based on \(confirmed.*?pc.*?ps3.*?xbox360.*?\) which is better suited as a catch-all for the vast array of punctuation permutations, version and GOTY notes.   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 09:09, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

I'd hate to have to do each one individually, as I find the connection to the API often times out, meaning it generally takes a couple of hours to do a single pass on Fallout 3 pages even with -excepttitle:"jpg|jpeg|png" :( I've actually got my functions saved in sections in the user-fixes.py file (bugs, spelling, moving tags etc) and call the relevant operation from the command line with -fix:bugs (for example) - much easier to edit the file as required :)   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 09:43, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for that Porter - that will make a difference! I had noticed the namespaces in the family file, but wasn't aware that this option would keep it to articles. As to namespaces, is there an option to access Special pages? I was thinking something along the lines of double redirects, or uncategorized images...   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 10:09, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

FO3 NPC project Interactions sections[]

Remember this conversation?

::I agree with renaming the "Related quests" section. I'll have the bot make any change that is agreed on; I only used my own suggestions because I didn't have the time to wait for the result of a discussion before leaving.
Regarding "Other interactions" and "effects of player actions", I'd just like to explain how I meant these to be used before the discussion continues. "Effects of player actions" was meant to list all player actions which can have an effect on the status of the character in question, both directly and indirectly. It wasn't meant to be a third category of interactions (if that makes any sense), more an "additional info" section. I figured that listing these seperately would help to stop the quest interaction sections from becoming bloated, and that it would also allow us to list effects on the character which are not the result of a direct interaction with the character. As an example for the latter, the effect of the player's choice in The Power of the Atom on Moira Brown and the effect which the player choosing to kill Moriarty has on Gob were two examples I was thinking of. Neither of these are the result of the player interacting with the affected character directly, and I wouldn't consider Moira as being involved in The Power of the Atom. Just as a clarification.
On a sidenote, for the quest involvement section I'd personally prefer the "Quest name/link: Description of interaction" list format I used above instead of going into h4 headings and using {{main}}. Might just be personal preference, but I think it might help with keeping these sections brief and concise (plus h4 headings are hard to tell apart from h3 ones). -- Porter21 (talk) 18:23, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
Seems I killed the discussion - I should really stop posting such walls of text :P Anyway, let me know how you want the headings to be changed and I'll set the bot on it. -- Porter21 (talk) 09:38, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

If possible, I would like the Interactions section to contain only two subsections:

  • Quests (replacing "Realted quests")
  • Effects of player actions (already exists)
    I would be grateful if you can set your bot on it. I'm revamping the NPC project discussion page to highlight current guidelines, and I'll hold off on this subsection until/if you are able to make the changes. Thanks.--Gothemasticator 17:30, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. There's no rush on my request. You can check out the current NPC project talk page to see what things look like.--Gothemasticator 17:42, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Other Interactions seems to me to be unneeded in the majority of pages, and even on the pages it could be useful it just encourages random comments. I think random encounters, like Amata's, can be safely included under Quests. Minor stuff can be handled under Notes. If we run into a specific case that is troublesome, I'd prefer to handle that individually.--Gothemasticator 17:47, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. And I agree about not removing filled-in subsection titles.--Gothemasticator 18:19, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Again, thank you! :) Check out the project talk page where I've written up usage of the Interactions section. Let me know if you think it could be clearer.--Gothemasticator 19:35, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

FO3 NPC project[]

Thank you for your continuing work on the ongoing Fallout 3 NPC project. Please visit the project talk page for the latest updates and current discussions. Our goal is to finish this project before the release of New Vegas! Cheers.--Gothemasticator 18:05, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Did you know...?[]

How do I make it work for the C&C Wiki? I'd like to rig the code so that it'd display one of several images in the right column for the game-specific portals. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 22:19, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Unused files[]

I'm assuming one needs admin privileges to tackle the Unused files category (beyond tagging obviously spurious images with {{delete}})?   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 12:57, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

You may have noticed from some of my recent initiatives that I really would like to get into file management areas that I suspect would need admin rights to achieve effectively.   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 08:06, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. I have no objection to integrating the two category groupings along the lines of your proposal to simply maintenance from an admin perspective, but was not going to alter the existing format unilaterally to achieve my aims. You have correctly identified the basis for establishing the category :). As can be seen, it is my intention to streamline and simplify processing of images that need to be addressed. Primarily the existing structure is setup from an article perspective rather than a file management one, and the {{badimage}} template is currently flawed in practice, as it lumps poor quality images in the same category with image requests for article pages. Your suggestion of a merge sounds appropriate with a change in the main category name as mentioned, and would satisfactorally meet my requirements. The three sub-categories could then be transferred across, and the {{badimage}} template could be modified to point to the Image improvement needed category (or similar title you think is appropriate). Thanks for your thoughts - any other suggestions?   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 08:14, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Achievements[]

Looks like an achievement system for Wikia is being tested and will be rolled out on all wikis at some point (see: Iron Man Wiki). Not a fan of achievements myself, but I guess that when they're introduced, it would be nice to change the default pictures and names to Vault Boy/perk ones. What do you think? Ausir(talk) 01:20, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

I personally think an achievement system would demoralize the wiki... Since when did everything become about earning points?! Having this system would make new and less mature editors want to hoard achievements, not contribute meaningful edits. And with these news editors rolling in to boast about their points, we would only have more useless edits to revert. I hope there is some say in which wiki chooses to have achievements implemented. But, if that's how the cookie will crumble, then I agree with Ausir that the icons for them should at least be Fallout related. Ghouly89 (Talk) 00:37, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry[]

I hadn't figured that out yet... sorry. Thank's for helping me. :). Nukey - (Speak to me!!!) 21:40, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

I know it might seem like I think you have all of the power to do this, but what if you contacted Wikia technicians and got them to add those things to the image box? Nukey - (Speak to me!!!)

Work and edits, just work and edits[]

Say, would you like asistance with adding all the FO3 quest stages on your respective User page link? If you are doing something else/ don't want help, then I'm just giving a friendly offer :). Also, I think alphebetizing the Navboxes for Fallout pages is my next main quest. For example, Template:Navbox characters FO1 is listed in approximate order of when you meet major characters in the game. I think since that varies with every user, and since it is very easy to read things that are alphebetized, that this should be done. Just tell me if you intended it to be the original way. Ghouly89 (Talk) 00:54, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I am completely unfamiliar with the GECK :/. However, I am good at filling in the emplty shells called templates that you are rather good at creating. :) So, are you talking about adding those directly to the quest pages? Ghouly89 (Talk) 23:00, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Configuring the bot[]

Hey, I was wondering if you could help me configure the PYWbot for the C&CWiki. I have it installed and can run python scripts no problem, but whenever I try e.g. replace, it just prints the manual for the script instead of actually doing it. Please help - I've already suffered enough recategrizing this shit by hand. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 22:59, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

New categories for merge[]

I have established Category:Attention required and Category:Nominated for deletion as per your recommendations, but would just like to check on something with you before proceeding any further. Is there an ability to move categories as with articles, or is this an admin level task? I am happy to implement the changes but don't want to break anything in the process, namely the Article management section on Special:RecentChanges, which I currently do not have sufficient privileges to edit. See you when you get back :)   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 06:24, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Summary of changes: After giving the process a bit more thought, I figured I should be able to complete most of it, and have done so :). Created Category:Attention required, and changed all sub-categories to be nested under this header. Have initially set up redirects as a catch-all for Category:Articles requiring attention and Category:Files requiring attention to point to the new cat, but have updated links of pages that were pointing to the old cats (with one exception, mentioned later). Nested Category:Articles nominated for deletion and Category:Files nominated for deletion under subcat Category:Nominated for deletion as a temporary measure, so nothing ends up breaking just yet :). Templates {{Delete}} and {{Unused}} have been updated to point to the newly merged Category:Nominated for deletion. Have merged {{badimage}} and {{image quality}}, retaining the former with a few modifications and nominating the latter for deletion. Only thing remaining at this stage that remains a priority is to update the MediaWiki:Recentchangestext page, which requires admin privileges to change (which I do not have at the present time, pending the result of my admin application). Well, that's where things are up to so far. Does the method and approach I have taken sound reasonable? Did you have any suggestions or recommendations for any changes that could refine the merge? Thanks again.   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 09:59, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

FO1/2/T items[]

If the weapon stats for FO1/2 and for FOT are identical and the only difference is the inventory image, do you think we should still split the page or just redirect e.g. Power fist (Fallout Tactics) to Power fist (Fallout)? Ausir(talk) 19:16, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Weight is also different (7 and 9), but I think it's close enough to just include both in the same infobox like with the Turbo plasma rifle (Fallout) differences. Ausir(talk) 19:18, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Interactions[]

How about changing "interactions with the player character" to just "interactions" in character articles? It's shorter, it's pretty clear anyway, and could also cover in-game interactions between characters. Ausir(talk) 07:18, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

I'd say that relations with other characters covered by background and relationships are a different thing, as they should be covered from the in-universe perspective regardless of whether they actually interact with each other in-game, while in Interactions, only actual interactions between characters would be covered. Ausir(talk) 12:27, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Bot edits on Templates[]

Unfortunately the bot seems to have stripped all the tagged categories from the templates, rather than just changing the cat from Article to Page management. I'm just going through them now to fix up.   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 14:35, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

That's useful to know, just in case I'm inclined to dabble with category.py - at present I'm right at home with replace.py ;) Now with the DEFAULTSORT on the doc files, what is this handling? I'm assuming Template ordering is done alphabetically by default. P.S My internet is reeeaaaalllll ssslllllooooowwwwww at the moment - as in dial-up slow, as in 2 minutes to load a page slow! :O Gotta get to bed now, as I've got work in the morning, so I'll catch up with you tomorrow. :)   phoenix  txt  Mini-FO3 Logo2 15:06, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout Tactics missions[]

Hey Porter. I've been playing through Tactics, and I was wondering if it would be possible to split up the mission/town articles into, say, Brahmin Wood (town) and Brahmin Wood (mission), or give the missions unique names? Nitty Tok. 02:20, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Admin Request.[]

Don't let the title mislead you, I probably aren't active enough on this wiki to be an admin here anyway. But what I want to know is how to grant someone admin rights, and also, if an admin can grant those rights? I am fairly "green" to the tehcnical side of the Wikis. I am currently the only "authority" if I should call it anything, at the Metro 2033 wiki, and it's been under attack by many spammers, vandals and whatnot for quite some time now, and I can't ban every single one or correct every single problem on my own there. I just don't know where to turn, so... can you help me out with this problem? How to give admin rights?

Wow, thanks for the help then. I really appreciate it, I truly do. Sadist King 06:25, May 15, 2010 (UTC)Sadist King

Unlisted Copyright templates[]

In MediaWiki:Licenses a few copyright templates (such as OtherAuthor, PD) aren't listed when you need to select a license for an uploaded image. I'm not sure of they should be there or not, but I wanted to notify you either way in case you missed it or something. And good job on all the templates and documentations! --Light Daxter - Talk 11:33, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Templates[]

How often is the data cached for the Wiki's Templates? I have been working at correcting all the links that lead to the wrong article name on a template, and it seems it hasn't cached, so it still directs to the wrong page. Ghouly89 (Talk) 02:33, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Advertising Age interview[]

Hi Porter. A reporter from Advertising Age is writing an article about how user-generated articles are becoming more valuable than paid-for articles. He wants to interview a couple Wikia editors to learn about their motivations to contribute to a wiki. You were one of the editors I suggested, so now I'm contacting you to see if you would be interested in participating. If not, just leave a reply on my talk page. If you are interested, send me an email and I will follow up there. Thanks. JoePlay (talk) 17:08, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Not helping the situation much, am I? :P Nitty Tok. 21:30, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
Well, if it's in the guide it could be added to the article (with a reference). I guess there is a difference between "editor speculation" and "official speculation" (for lack of better terms). -- Porter21 (talk) 21:34, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

Ah. I see the question. Well, the color-coded stars work just fine, I think, as formatting goes. What really helps the gamearticle doc, though, is the "Examples" section. For clarity you just can't beat examples.--Gothemasticator 22:32, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

Capitalize or not[]

I see you undid an 'undo' edit that I made in reponse to an anonymous contributor who uncapitalized a number of links on the Tenpenny Tower (quest), and you pointed to the rules on the FW:EDIT page. However, I feel there is a contradiction between the rules posted on that page.

Language[]

  • Game-specific words should always use the ingame spelling, even in cases when it is incorrect.

In my interpretation this means that if you speak about assault rifles or combat shotguns in general, the word should not be capitalized, however, when you speak about, and add links to that specific assault rifle or combat shotgun model that appears in the Fallout games, the spelling of the word should adhere to the in-game spelling so the reader can recognize that the author is referring to an in-game item.

But then the below section contradicts this interpretation:

Capitalizing[]

  • Article names and links should not be overcapitalized, regardless of whether they relate to in-game subjects or not, and regardless of in-game spelling. For example, we use "Fallout series" and "Fallout setting", not "Fallout Series" and "Fallout Setting". Proper names, such as Pancor Jackhammer should be capitalized, but common words, like combat shotgun, should not.

In the light of the fact that you reversed my undo, the first rule under the Language section should be clarified because right now it is confusing. Also, Ghoul Mask, that was uncapitalized is not a common word, as it refers to a specific and unique in-game item. Desyndra 07:33, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

Navbox[]

Looks good! I think I prefer the standard version myself. The other versions are somewhat confusing. BTW, I think {{Navbox Enclave}} is too big in general and should probably be divided into a general Enclave template and an Enclave characters one, perhaps. Ausir(talk) 10:39, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

Just another thank you[]

Every time I see your latest batch of work I wish afresh I had more time to give to The Vault. It's just great work you do and so much of it! I really am going to be largely gone through sometime in August. I may have a new city to live in and a new job with it. So, I'm preoccupied with uncertain preliminaries at the moment. I'll keep popping my head in now and then. Hopefully things will settle somewhat for me by the time New Vegas is released. I know the busyness around here increases with every tidbit of new teaser info, but there really will be a flood when the game hits the consoles. Cheers.--Gothemasticator 19:08, June 13, 2010 (UTC)

FOOL[]

Thanks for moving all the categories and portal templates. Could you also make a logo pic and make the bot change V13 abbreviation in games template etc. to FOOL? Ausir(talk) 00:40, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

Well, FOOL sounds funnier, and has been used by fans for years, so I'd go with that. :) As for merging, sounds like a good idea. Ausir(talk) 09:04, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

I would appreciate it if you took a look at this forum, as well as this one. Then, message me on my talk page over there. User:Vault-Tec_CEO reports that he still cannot edit the FNV weapons page. Any idea why? --Gothemasticator 21:51, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

I never realized that. Just read through Anon's linked permissions page above. Guess it just never "registered" with me. Haha. Thanks for the reply.--Gothemasticator 07:45, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

FOOL forum[]

Given that it's officially announced, what do you think about setting up a separate forum board for FOOL? Ausir(talk) 01:30, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, thought so too, maybe "Fallout series general discussion"? Ausir(talk) 08:22, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

Fixed width help[]

Having noticed that this wiki is going to be reformatted with a fixed width page layout, I was wondering if you could help me (you appear to know what's involved). I edit primarily on the Mass Effect Wiki, and want to alter my settings there to display the fixed width format while logged in. Is this possible, or does such a format change have to be wiki-wide and for all users? If it is possible, then how? I'd appreciate any answers you can give. -- Commdor (Talk) 23:33, June 20, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, it worked liked a charm. -- Commdor (Talk) 23:33, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

Digest[]

It would probably be a good idea to post a new digest now, with e.g. info on how to disable fixed width, and link to Tezzla's admin request? Anything else it should cover? Ausir(talk) 13:55, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, sounds like a good idea. Same with portals. Ausir(talk) 14:21, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion[]

Is there any possible way that you can implement something on this page where the page updates itself in the "My Home" section instead of having to refresh the page? I'm not sure if this is already implemented on this website; if it is, I guess my internet is below par. TrailerParkApe 21:08, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Fixed width[]

First off, I am enjoying it. It's great for tables and images. Great move. Second, here's a page suffering from the changeover. Cheers.--Gothemasticator 05:52, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

I put in a report at Help Wikia as well as at Wikia Central. We'll see if they reply. I just wanted to make you aware of it. :) --Gothemasticator 14:01, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Hi[]

Heyy Porter? How the hell do you make templates that good. Like, you only go on the vault wiki so how did you learn? and you should use your skills on other wikis. You're a talented wikian if you only started in 2008. I think you should work for wikia, making them templates and make a wiki for users to request templates and other help. I could help too. I'm not really asking for anything but a talented wikian shouldn't be ignored. I made most of these templates on this [1]. Please give me some feedback on my wiki Matt OF THE Wastes 10:40, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout 3 achievements and trophies

The very first achievement says "Got the Pip-Boy 3000 "

it should be "Get the Pip-boy 3000"

after all it is under the Requirements.

Ishotamaninnewreno[]

By the way, seen the Dot/Reno/Gothemasticator drama? I think Gothemasticator was a bit harsh on Reno given that it's Dot that's been doing most of the insulting (some of it from another IP, for which I blocked him) and that unlike him, Reno is a valuable contributor even if he hasn't edited much lately. Hopefully I'll be able to talk him out out leaving. Ausir(talk) 11:43, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I don't really blame Goth for trying to be impartial. As for us basing decisions on whether someone meaningfully contributes to the wiki, I don't see anything wrong with giving active contributors some benefit of doubt (of course to an extent). Ausir(talk) 14:19, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Achievements[]

By the way, as a Wikia helper, I'm to ask admins of wikis on our current focus list whether they'd mind achievements being set up now on the wiki. Since The Vault is one of them, I'm asking you (they will most likely be activated sooner or later anyway, though). If they are to be set up, I think it's best to first start a forum thread with ideas for names and Vault Boy images for the achievements and then set them up only when we've already customized them. What do you think? Ausir(talk) 11:56, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

As for ads, I agree, although there isn't much we can do about it other than using Adblock. As for achievements, they have both advantages and disadvantages, obviously. I don't think they will be that much of a problem, though, as long as we block people for abusing them. Ausir(talk) 14:21, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
Hm, I haven't actually encountered any "sponsored links" like that yet. Any links to where you've seen them? Ausir(talk) 17:58, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout: New Vegas[]

Hello my friend, I'm back of my holiday ^^.

Yes yes, I already understood this rule, the rest was just before knowing this. Otherwise, Canon makes no sense for me, when Interplay had Fallout, Tactics and BOS was Canon, and now it changes hands, bang ! It's not Canon. For me, Canon serves only for a literary or filmographic, not in a game where nothing is Canon. But it's the rule, then I'll follow =).

Good day to you and see you soon my friend ! Itachou [~talk~] 13:51, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

Messed up galleries[]

Howdy, my husband wrote a piece of java script that will reset all existing galleries to 120x120px and 4 thumbnails per row. here's that snippet if you are interested:

fixGallery();

function fixGallery() {
    var maxD=120;
    var spans=document.evaluate('//span[@class="wikia-gallery-item"]',document,null,XPathResult.ORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE,null);
    for (var i=0;i<spans.snapshotLength;i++) {
        var s = spans.snapshotItem(i);
        var d1 = s.firstChild;
        if (d1) {
            var d2 = d1.firstChild;
            if (d2) {
                var a = d2.firstChild;
                if (a) {
                    var curH = a.style.height.replace(/[^0-9]*/g,'');
                    var curW = a.style.width.replace(/[^0-9]*/g,'');
                    if (curH && curW) {
                        var ratio = curH/curW;
                        if(curW >= maxD && ratio <= 1){
                            curW = maxD;
                        } else if(curH >= maxD) {
                            curW = Math.floor(maxD / ratio);
                        }
                        s.style.width = maxD+'px';
                        d1.style.height = maxD+'px';
                        d2.style.height = maxD+'px';
                        d2.style.width = maxD+'px';

Porter, I wanted to let you know that I am moving myself to inactive status for the indefinite future. For months now, I have had no time for anything past patrolling the recent changes page, and my time is again becoming more limited. You've been a champion here at The Vault, and I only wish I had the time to help you out. Alas, intentions alone ain't enough. I have greatly appreciated your efforts, your time, and the effort you put into teaching and trying to encourage participation. Cheers.--Gothemasticator 15:24, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Some help with navbox columns code[]

I've been working with a navbox at; http://jakanddaxter.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Missions_Jak_II (the code and css is all he same), but encountered a little problem. You see, the columns do not go any higher than eight, but I need a maximum of 14 for this one template. Is there a way to let another row of columns appear below the initial one? I would simply split up the B column into B and C, but then C wants to go under its own header (which I recall is mandatory if you want collapsible headers). Is there a way around this or do you perhaps have a better idea for the appearance of this navbox? (p.s. I've copied most of your code, most grateful for it). --Light Daxter - Talk 21:36, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll probably just replace row B and C with a nested navbox. Although one tiny question, do you have to use css code to force the title row of the nested navbox to be yellow (in your case green)? It'd look better that way. --Light Daxter - Talk 22:54, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

I saw you updated the navbox and css code, anything I need to know about the differences? I've already copied everything but now the nested navbox doesn't show up anymore in the navbox at all (it did before). --Light Daxter - Talk 16:23, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll be able to figure something out now! --Light Daxter - Talk 20:08, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

I never really bothered with that one particular effect, sort-of like it I guess. And so far no one complained about it. But thanks anyway. Oh on a sidenote, do you ever plan on using that chart template? I'm using it for my own wiki and it's incredibly easy to use, so if you need anything specific done with it I can help out if you want (example here). --Light Daxter - Talk 15:39, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, but that was "Fallout 3" In "Fallout: New Vegas, the weapons are very clearly based on real-world weaponary. Example: Look at the "9mm pistol" in Fallout: New Vegas and compare it to the Browning Hi-Power, a real world handgun designed by John Moses Browning, and you can tell the 9mm pistol design is based on the Browning HP. - The Texas Ranger 00:47, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure this issue has been conversed about somewhere on the wiki already... but I still fail to know how to do this. It would save room on the wiki for one (although I have never uploaded user pics until just recently), and make my Photobucket account worth something. :)

PS. I don't mind if you don't particularly like my logos; persona;;y, it was just a good excersise of my skills in PS and making gif's. ;) Ghouly89 (Talk) 03:24, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

Is this change one of those "Brilliant" ideas from wiki central, or is it possible to bring the option back to the Vault? I mean, there is always linking pictures in text as a possiblity, but that greatly reduces the versatility of the direct image being shown. Oh well, thanks for the reply :) Ghouly89 (Talk) 05:19, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Blog System[]

Greeting and Hello.

Porter21, I am one of the admins over at the Mass Effect Wiki, and currently there is a proposal for us to switch our news system from our current one, to a blog based one that The Vault has. However we are getting bogged down on the specifics, mainly when it comes to regulating the system. Since you have a good system here, I was wondering how you guys regulate it, since your wiki is used as one of the examples on how it’s done.

Also I would like to say that you guys have done a good job here with this wiki. I come here often during my playthoughs of Fallout 3, despite the fact I have a strategy guide, and I'm looking forward to New Vegas. Thanks in advance. Lancer1289 07:08, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

Help[]

I need help with my wiki. My wiki needs the "Create a new page" and "Upload a new photo" things to disapear from that toolbox. Can you tell me a way I can do that so it can be a bit like this wiki. Here's my wiki, Brink wiki. http://brink.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matt of the wastes (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

fallout 3 game of the year edition[]

if you buy fallout 3 game of the year edition for xbox do you have 2 be on xbox live to play the add ons?

my email is amelrose8d2@hotmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.175.69.128 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

I don't know either, sorry. I neither have the GotY nor am I playing on an Xbox. -- Porter21 (talk) 15:43, August 23, 2010 (UTC)

Blog namespace[]

Because then we can't add a header above the news listing. Ausir(talk) 09:26, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that and the archive links. Ausir(talk) 09:33, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
Nice trick. :) Sounds like a good idea. Ausir(talk) 09:43, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Ajax RC refresher[]

What ever happened to the automatically RC refreshing .js code? It doesn't appear on the RC page anymore. --Light Daxter - Talk 19:18, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Keys[]

I'm sorry. I didn't know that the redirects were broken. :/ TrailerParkApe 17:32, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, alright. How many other special pages are there? (Just a rough guess.) I want to make sure that I don't run into another one and go on an edit spree in there and break everything. TrailerParkApe 17:51, August 26, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, alrighty. Well, thank you for letting me know. I won't make an edit like that again unless I have the okay to go! TrailerParkApe 18:02, August 26, 2010 (UTC)
I have another question. I was wondering if there were going to be tables implemented for mods on weapons for FNV? For example, say on the hunting rifle, would a table be appropriate that would list the name of the mod, what the mod does, and how damage the weapon does after the mod is put on? TrailerParkApe 18:14, August 26, 2010 (UTC)
Alright, cool. I was just curious about the nature of that. And now I know. I was thinking about the other day, and since you're the guy behind all the magic here, I thought I would ask you about it. TrailerParkApe 18:27, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

On the subject of keys, did I do OK with the Fallout: New Vegas keys page? I know we still don't have any info on specific keys but the last remaining redlink in the list of overview pages was bugging me. --Kris mailbox 19:14, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Cool! How did you get your own bot? Also, how long did it take you to get to know all the codes on here?! TrailerParkApe Spew 20:52, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Talkboxes[]

Hello. I am here to tell you about talkboxes. They are used on The Sims Wiki and other wikis, but not on this one. The talkbox page for The Sims WIki is http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_Wiki:Talkboxes, and a link to a talkbox template is http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Template%3APepterPepper. If you can, ask A morris(the main admin on The Sims Wiki)about them. Thanks, PepterPepper 02:00, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

JES perks[]

I've finished the JES perk navbox. Could you pipe it into PorterBot? Nitty Tok. 19:40, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

I really want to keep at least the 'boy' part, that was how Sawyer did most of the game, as well as Van Buren's balance. Can I get away with just removing the work 'perks'? Nitty Tok. 16:02, August 30, 2010 (UTC)

Tactics missions template[]

I'm almost ready to split the towns from the missions.

Could you step on in and either remove or change the "Location" line in Template:Infobox mission to accept 'empty'? All of the missions take place in the towns and whatnot. Nitty Tok. 22:40, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

Game template[]

Hi there, I'm Duskey over from The Sims Wiki. I noticed your excellent [[Template:Games|Game template]] and checked it out. Our current "game" template is positioned with an absolute div which doesn't move when sitenotice is used. I noticed yours (as in this wikis') requires both CSS and JS. Is all that neccesary to make it move down with the rest of the article because of sitenotice? I'm asking you since you seem to be the one editing the CSS and JS page the most and also has the most recent edits on the game template. Duskey(talk) 01:10, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

I figured it out some time ago :p thanks though :) --Duskeytalk 21:53, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

Html / Css help[]

You would seem to be the person to ask for help with anything web development-y. So take a look at this picture:

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/6200/concepty.png

I would like to replicate this page in an html document. Now, I know how to get the basics on here, but the specific layout is damn near impossible for me to figure out. If you could help me out with this one, I would greatly appreciate it. (Any pointers / tips / code ;))

Some general information from the picture:

font size :2
font face :Verdana
body bgcolor :#000000
body link: #33CC00
div background color: #333333

As for the pictures, I want their locations to be placeholders for when selecting other animations.

Thanks in advance, Ghouly89 (Talk) 20:33, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

--EDIT-- I see you've gotten Wikia to bring back the direct image-linking ability; thank you kindly :) Ghouly89 (Talk) 20:37, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

Do you think it's feasible to use css coding to change the tables so they look like the new standard (ie; navboxes). And what will you do with the logo for the new skin? I believe the logo dimensions are now lower and wider, which doesn't really fit a round object like the current logo? --Light Daxter - Talk 22:20, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

I figured you had to change the whole css code all over again for the new skin. If you're interested, I'm working on a little something myself (progress here; http://community.wikia.com/index.php?title=Forum:Need_some_css_coding_help_regarding_the_new_skin&t=20101004192345). Without the sidebar the content area looks fine and the other minor changes makes it all together pretty decent.

I figure the logo would fit, but only a small one. Possible options include a very long version of the gear (like a rectangle) with The Vault text longer and bigger? Or maybe multiple gears? I hope you'll think of something nice, the old logo was really synonymous for this wiki. --Light Daxter - Talk 19:37, October 4, 2010 (UTC)

Space at the header[]

Hi there. You seem to know a lot about these edits, and I wanted to ask you how you make that little "space" at the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Wikiportal/Header Because, when I copied the template from that page, I got mine to look like this: http://sv.fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mall:Wikiportal/Header

I just translated the english words into swedish...

So yeah, any help is appreciated :) --Tobulos1 16:14, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

He's alive![]

Thanks, Porter! :D Nitty Tok. 20:39, October 4, 2010 (UTC)

HTML / CSS[]

Oh, don't worry about that now, Porter. I've since abandoned the thought. But what I did mean to ask was if you could help me replicate the basic layout in html / css, or whatever it would take. I do understand that the information required to conjure up different images based on the user's selection would have to be handled through a form, and would require some form of PHP / Javascript. If ever find some time again, I could do the latter part, but my web development skills are lacking to produce something similar to the layout in the picture. That's all ;) - Ghouly89 (Talk) 02:55, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

New skin[]

Any interest in leaving, then? Nitty Tok. 18:41, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Question about your portal pages[]

Hello Porter21,

I have a question regarding your portal pages. Sorry, I'm not really into Fallout (I did Platinum'd Fallout 3 on PS3 though!), so my question is not about the game, but about your Wiki. I noticed your Portal pages don't have a sidebar on the right (in Oasis). How did you manage to get rid of it? The portal pages on my wiki look horrible because of the sidebar squeezing them... I tried asking on the community forums, but I get no answer there so I hope you're willing to reply. Thanks ---Zantam03 (Talk) 08:57, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for the reply :-) ---Zantam03 (Talk) 09:28, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

For when you get back here...[]

In addition to the Strength requirement for the Vegas weapon infobox, don't forget to program in a skill requirement field too. (Example, the chainsaw needs 75 Melee, the gatling laser needs 100 Energy Weapons.) Nitty Tok. 21:13, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

Demotivated[]

Hello, Demotivated, I'm Short-On-Time. Perhaps we'll meet again in The Vault... someday. Until then, it has been a pleasure. Thanks for all the work you have put in. Cheers.--Gothemasticator 21:38, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

New skin fix[]

I have been working on fixing the new skin a bit. It's far from perfect but it is a decent try. The code is currently at http://jakanddaxter.wikia.com/wiki/User:Light_Daxter/wikia.css. The main issue is the sidebar, removing it is easy but it also gets rid of the search box in the main space articles. My css skills aren't good enough to find a working version, but it's still very much a prototype. Aside from this I'd also like to remove the edit buttons and turn them into tabs, sort of, but so far I could only create this by removing the ul tags in the HTML code, but I need css to get it done.

I hope you're interested in helping me get this to work. --Light Daxter - Talk 20:08, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

I'm aware of it, it's just something for personal use. Thanks for the code, it works great! --Light Daxter - Talk 21:21, October 20, 2010 (UTC)
