Well, it's no secret that the ol' water treatment plant is on its last legs. And I'm the only one in town that can keep the damn thing running.Walter

The Megaton water processing plant can be found directly upstairs from Craterside Supply, occupied by Walter in the morning, and Leo Stahl at night.

Layout[]

Whenever Walter isn't outside taking a smoke break, he can be found inside during working hours, tinkering with the various machines within the plant, and speaking to him will initiate the unmarked quests Treatment and Walter's Scrap Metal. In the back room is Leo Stahl's desk, which can be broken into or lawfully opened for his stash of chems, dependent on whether Stahl has been spoken to regarding his drug habits.

Related quests[]

Notes[]

  • The locked desk remains named "locked desk" even after the lock is picked.
  • The water processing plant is possibly Megaton's only source of water, as the residents are very stingy towards giving outsiders water.

Appearances[]

The Megaton water processing plant appears only in Fallout 3.

Behind the scenes[]

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Walter still describes problems with a possible water shortage and/or contamination even after Holy Water (Broken Steel add-on) is completed. [verified]
  • PCPC When the pointer is aimed at an object or person in the plant then moved off that object, the cursor will flicker and show the drink option for a split second, and timed correctly you can drink from the object or non-player character and gain HP and a few rads but note the "drink" text is red and doing so is considered a crime. • PCPC In case Walter is missing see his article for solutions. [verified]
