Zapp's Neon Signs is an unmarked location within the South Vegas ruins in the Mojave Wasteland. It is inhabited by Fiends and located on the outskirts of New Vegas.

Background[]

Once a major sign manufacturing company, Zapp's Neon Signs lit up the Las Vegas strip itself. After the Great War, they became more known for their signs being used as impassable perimeter walls, such as the Fiends in the South Vegas ruins, and the denizens of North Vegas Square. The building itself is now more of a graveyard of signage, the most impressive monument being the feet of a Tall Boy statue.[1][2]

Layout[]

There are three main areas of the building, including the entrance office, the workshop and the foreman's office. Around the exterior, barricades created with a variety of pre-War signs can be found.

Entrance office[]

In the entrance office, there is a rigged terminal. At the top of the stairs there is a trip wire activating a grenade bouquet. At the bottom, there are three frag mines on the ground immediately preceding the workshop entrance. Down the stairs, there are three workbenches on the righthand side of the workshop room. There are several Fiends in the workshop area.

Foreman's office[]

The steps leading to the foreman's office contain three fire extinguishers on the stairs, which are all sitting next to frag mines. At the top of the steps is a Fiend named Duke, who guards the foreman's office and the loot inside. Duke is scripted to shoot at the extinguishers at the bottom of the stairs from the catwalk outside of the office area once the player character is in proximity, which will subsequently set off the nearby mines with the explosion.

In the foreman's office, an Easy locked terminal sits on a desk, containing Zapp's Neon Signs terminal entries. A first aid box can be found on the wall to the right, and two Nuka-Cola Quartz on the shelves next to a copy of Boxing Times and a Lad's Life.

Notable loot[]

Notes[]

  • Although Duke is a named non-player character, he has no unique interactions and isn't involved in any quests. He has a very high amount of HP compared to other Fiends and is one of only five named characters in the base game to have "Very Evil" Karma.
  • The first aid box in the upstairs bathroom was placed upside down.
  • The business name in the terminal reads "McMurray's Neon Sign Designs" as opposed to Zapp's Neon Signs.

Appearances[]

Zapp's Neon Signs appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.

Behind the scenes[]

  • "McMurray's Neon Sign Designs" on the terminal is likely a reference to developer Denise McMurry.
