Laurie was a friend of the happily married newlyweds Jim and Jess. Just prior to the Great War, she and her husband Bruce attended their wedding ceremony, which took place at a home on a lake on the southern part of Mount Desert Island. Together, they gifted them a nuclear dishwasher as a wedding present.[1]
