This metro area was once used as a base by raiders, as evidenced by the prolific graffiti on the walls, the usual gruesome displays of mutilated corpses, and most tellingly, the recently dead bodies of four raiders, two females and two males. However, it is now over run by feral ghouls, and the raiders will be found with signs of a struggle evident.
It is similar in appearance to the proton axe, but is much smaller. It is a thrown weapon and it explodes on impact. These weapons are quite uncommon, so one should take careful aim when using one.

As an advantage towards robots, it can target a combat inhibitor in V.A.T.S. as if it's in full view, even if the robot is facing the player. Unlike the non throwing version, it does not have an EMP effect.

Variants
Protonic inversal throwing axe: A much stronger variant with a higher damage.

Heading east along the rails will lead to the Vernon Square Station, while westward to a crossroads. North of that point lies the Chevy Chase East, passing by the last two leveled feral ghouls, and southward is the exit to the Dupont Circle North Station.
Notes
The proton throwing axe has very high item health relative to most other melee weapons, and as such would degrade very slowly, even though you can only attack once with it as it becomes irretrievable once thrown.

Metro Junction is part of the Metro system under the Capital Wasteland. It connects Dupont Circle, Dupont Northeast, Vernon Square, Vernon Square North and Chevy Chase together. It is a relatively small metro section, infested by a few feral ghouls.

Background

This metro area was once used as a base by raiders, as evidenced by the prolific graffiti on the walls, the usual gruesome displays of mutilated corpses, and most tellingly, the recently dead bodies of four raiders, two females and two males. However, it is now over run by feral ghouls, and the raiders will be found with signs of a struggle evident.

Layout

The station is made up by an atrium which connects north-east to the Vault-Tec Headquarters at Vernon Square North, south to the New Hampshire Ave. at the Dupont Circle. The lobby overlooking the platforms was the main raider living space, in which three of the raiders can be found dead, and two leveled feral ghouls guarding the north and south exits. Below at the platforms, between the trains, lies the body of the last female raider.

Heading east along the rails will lead to the Vernon Square Station, while westward to a crossroads. North of that point lies the Chevy Chase East, passing by the last two leveled feral ghouls, and southward is the exit to the Dupont Circle North Station.

Inhabitants

The four raiders that once occupied these tunnels have been completely overrun by the four feral ghouls that now dwell here.

Notable loot

 • Grognak the Barbarian atop a table sitting on some rubble at the north-east corner of the lower platform, beside the entrance to the rail-line leading to the Vernon Square North exit. Height-wise, it's halfway down to the platform, directly next to the concrete bench; a board leads over the railing from the upper level, and there is a table with a lamp on it.

Appearances

Metro Junction only appears in Fallout 3.
