Special Mission[]

Anyone here wondering what this actually is, or is it just me? Google search produced 0 curious people out there. :( I wonder if we'll play a part in it, or if it's to remain an eternal mystery... ...or if it's DLC material. LordSchmee 08:25, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Uh, did you read any of the previews? ED-E's mission is it's companion quest arc. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 08:40, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
I didn't read too deeply into it (articles or podcasts), but the Companion/ED-E pages don't mention anything about it, so I assumed the information wasn't available (as the people here are usually efficient in getting the info to the site ASAP). Either way, sounds awesome. LordSchmee 10:20, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Enclave[]

excuse me but why do we say this is enclave there are no distinctive markings and we know to little about Eyebots in general its origins to say all are enclave Mway 21:51, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Because the only eyebots we've seen have been Enclave propaganda machines. Kris mailbox 21:54, August 15, 2010 (UTC)
But thats an assumption assumptions are not truths and assumptions have no place on any wiki Mway1
Also he says "kind of a Enclave Element" in reference to the Eyebot this says its just sort of a throwback not actually affiliated to the Enclave Mway
Because the devs said it's an Enclave eyebot. Nitty Tok. 02:13, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
no he didnt his exact wording was "kind of a Enclave Element" not "THIS IS AN ENCLAVE EYEBOT!!" this is more than likely one of the few throwbacks to Bethesda's Fallout 3 that Obsidian are including i could say the BNP (a british political party that beat up immigrants) is kinda Nazi it doesnt mean then march around under swastikas ands sing Deutschland Deutschland Uber Alias all of this is still assumptions Mway
"It's kind of an Enclave element". It's an eyebot. Therefore, it is an Enclave eyebot. Nitty Tok. 02:51, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Also can you name another faction that uses eyebot? - RASICTalk 02:55, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
One game is hardly a definitive source on the origins of eyebots when it give no explainaion of it but i suppose we will have to agree to disagree and wait for the release of the game Mway
They're pre-War designs. The only faction that used the specific 'eyebot' design was the Enclave. THEREFORE, THEY ARE ENCLAVE EYEBOTS. Go away. Nitty Tok. 18:54, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Don't resort to childish "go away"'s i just tried to end the argument in a neutral manner and we know not that the only faction was the enclave we just assume but like i said we should wait for the Game to come out. Mway

^this guy is a moron, he is vehemently arguing a point that is a matter of semantics, calling somthing an "enclave Eyebot" could mean an eyebot from the Enclave or an eyebot of the model the enclave used, as in an "Enclave(<<brand/model) Eyebot" it depends on how you look at it.

TOLD YA Mway P.S. northern ireland always wins

@Mway, it says it's age is 6 meaning that it was built POST-WAR, or at least modified post-war, by the Enclave in Raven Rock. Adam James Walker 21:37, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
Hopefully, it'll be something far more interesting than what happened in Fo3. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 11:24, September 16, 2010 (UTC)
That's for damn sure Adam James Walker 15:56, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Well, it doesn't specifically say that it's an Enclave Eyebot, but indeed that it's "kind of" one. This could mean anything, like the fact that it was, at one point, an Eyebot sabotaged and re-built by, say, the Institute, sent to somewhere in CA with research data. That wouldn't directly affiliate it with the Enclave. =)

I say, take down the Enclave affiliation (for now) and if it turns out to be an Enclave bot, then shove it back up. Makes sense, no?

Also, personally I'm hoping it was sent by the DC Enclave to the CA Enclave, with perhaps some data on the Lone Wanderer or some other events from FO3. Would be rather interesting to read about the "world" I knew in the previous game. LordSchmee 13:31, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

He's Enclave eyebot, the evidence is in his log recordings connected to his companion quest[spoilers a head] Log 1: His creator Whitney says he's stationed at Adam's Airforce Base[Enclave base], that all project materials were being diverted to the hellfire armor project[enclave power armor], that he's sending it to Navarro[another known enclave base] and lastly he says "if your listening to this from one of are Enclave outposts..." --LordVukodlak 09:03, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

Source of info[]

So what exactly is the source of information saying tht the only smidgen of enclave presence in new vegas is going to be this sole eyebot. And there is a discrepency beetween this page and the enclave page, the enclave page claims taht the enclave will have a presence in new vegas. I have seen nothing indicating the enclave will at all be in new vegas, i havent even seen anything indicating the eyebot will be in new vegas, it was a pre rendered in teh trailer was it not ? and source for any of this information will be greatly appreciated, thank you. ralok 22:21, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. I went ahead and removed the reference from the Enclave page. Kris mailbox 22:47, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Anyone else think that ED-E was the eyebot we saw in the New Vegas trailer? That would explain the license plate. "2ED-E59" Plus you can sorta see the bumper sticker on the back of him in the picture of it.

EDE as a Mass effect 2 easter egg?[]

Just curious to hear peoples thoughts on this, to those who are not familiar EDE was the name of the AI on the new Normandy.

She was called EDI. And no, ED-E is not a ME2 reference. Its name is, at best, a reference to WALL-E (Wally and Eddie). Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 11:31, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
Tagaziel, has Obsidian actually stated that it's not a reference to EDI? It's entirely possible they had more than one reference in mind. For instance it could refer to both EDI, and WALL-E, and even Robocop's infamous ED 209 prototype. All entirely valid opinions as long as the devs haven't said otherwise.--Phiont 13:51, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Sniper?[]

Wheres the evidence of a sniper? Looks to me like its just malfunctioning. It doesn't sound like a gunshot, you don't see a sniper, why would an NCR sniper fire on it? and it has already been mentioned that it broke down on it's journey. I think the trailer is footage of it's journey as it breaks down.

Err, watch the trailer again, watch him careen of the the road as a bullet hits him, twice; and then it shows you the sniper. Adam James Walker 15:19, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

The 'sniper' at 0:51 is the player character in VATS. He's wearing a vault suit for goodness sake. Is suggest YOU go back and watch the trailer again and see how it changes from cartoony, high def animation to gameplay. I seriously cannot comprehend how you have come to this conclusion. --90.220.86.168 20:05, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

That's just for dramaticness...Wyrmalla 20:07, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

What? What does that mean? It's been previously stated that ED-E broke down while travelling, that the eyebot in the trailer is ED-E and that it is currently security for a shop. Did you see any shops around? I am horrified that this information has not been included in your wild assumptions accepted as fact.--

90.220.86.168 20:12, October 19, 2010 (UTC) The "sniper" isn't the player... It was all just to make the transision more dramatic is all... I haven#t a clue why your on about his role during the game.Anyhow, the shop owner probably found the robot, its been confirmed by the developers. =P Wyrmalla 20:15, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

It is the player as it was a VATS sequence following the bullet, something that only happens when the player character fires a killing shot in VATS. You are wrong but if you want inaccurate information to stay up then that's fine, i'll change it when i've played the game and confirmed that ED-E is not shot by a sniper, wearing a vault suit, in a VATS sequence exclusive to the player character. Then i am going to post a message saying 'HA HA' on this section.--90.220.86.168 20:21, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Whatever, just make sure its posted to Fallout Wiki's standards if you do. I'm not on here to argue with anons.Wyrmalla 20:24, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout Wiki's standards of posting false information based on very questionable evidence? Oh, us anons, the second class citizens of wikis everywhere. Oh goodness, I do have an account! So, just so i'm clear, your whole argument is that it's supposed to increase the drama of the trailer? That is an incredibly flimsy excuse to post something as fact and does not come up to Fallout Wiki's standards.--Blestb 20:31, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

...As I said; whatever, just make sure the information's accurate when you post it. -_- Wyrmalla 20:34, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

I've seen this trailer a few times, there's no doubt that the intent is to show this robot getting hit with a sniper rifle. --Kris User Hola 20:44, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

I'm going to jump in here on this one and edit the article accordingly. It is the trailer video we're talking about. We witness Ed-E being shot twice, true. But we do not see who does the shooting. There is a jump-cut to a shot of a sniper. We follow the sniper's bullet in flight, as we do in VATS. But we never see the bullet land. There is nothing to tie the sniper to Ed-E.--Gothemasticator 21:57, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with Kris, and the sniper in the trailer is not the player character. You receive the vault suit after recovering from a head shot, and ED-E must have been broken down before that. In this game there is never an opportunity to shoot ED-E, or a robot like him, as it travels down some road. With the game starting as you wake up, ED-E already broken down, it must have happened prior to waking up, leaving the player with no vault suit, ere-go not the player character shooting ED-E.67.253.255.100 06:52, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

Firing and rehiring[]

Can I fire ED-E as a companion and rehire him at a later point or when I let him go is he just gone. I'd like to take Rex and get his brain fixed but he growled at ED-E and then it said I could only have one companion. And I'd much prefer ED-E over Rex but I want to get Rex fixed. Xxxjeffxxx 00:27, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

You can fire it and rehire it at your leisure. He returns to Primm. --Johnyjon 20:56, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

where in Primm does he return to? I can't find him anywhere, and I know he's not dead because I still have his (its?) quest.67.183.151.247 00:23, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

i have looked around primm for the better part of an hour trying to find him after firing him to do rex's mission. bug?

Best thing to do I have found is get the presidential suite at the Lucky 38. Once you have that you can tell any of your followers or companions, (and yes they are two different things) to wait at the Lucky 38 until you return.

I had also lost him for a while today, and spent a good while trying to find him. I eventually waited two days, and then re-entered the Mojave Express and there he was. Not sure if this will help anyone here, but it worked for me. Maybe it's possible he just hasn't arrived back in Prim on your game? Good luck.Vulpes Inculta 23:24, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

Cannot reduplicate follower part of ED-E's mission[]

There was a part on the wikia that needed verification. The part on there were it mentions a bug when you give ED-E over to the followers; he would be taken somewhere else and explode. When I have done the followers part of the mission he was to be gone several days. Later you get a message for saying ED-E is returned to Primm. It mentions in the mission log that he was upgrade and his hull seems to be different. Silentcid 23:07, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Also tried to duplicate this as well. And checked the scripting as well. This just plain isn't true. Removing it from the bugs section. - The Capulet 02:16, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Upon further investigation. If you allow ED-E to be taken away from the Followers and you have items ED-E is holding for you. Doesn't seem to be there once you get ED-E back. Possible bug? Silentcid 04:34, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

I updated the bugs section, explaining the exact issue with the missing inventory items. I expect there to be a mod fix for it soon, since it just takes a bit of simple scripting. All the functions are already in the game, it's clearly just a design oversight. - The Capulet 02:14, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Bug? or feature?[]

I've had ed-e get attacked and do battle with friendly targets for no reason at all in primm and in aerotech suites, anyone know what causes this? if it's a bug or a feature of his personality?

I've had ED-E get attacked in many locations by a variety of NPCs/factions. I think all of the various "ED-E gets attacked by X" entries in the Bugs section should just be consolidated to a single point. It doesn't seem to happen with particular people or for any particular reason. W7ngman 03:02, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

This happens most frequently indoors where there is a lot of garbage strewn across the floor. As you have noticed, you will occasionally take very slight damage while stepping over trash objects (skeletons, especially). This apparently happens to NPC's, too--I don't know if it's a physics bug or intentional. When it happens and ED-E is around, they blame it on him. The best place I've found to witness this bug is, as you mention, the Aerotech suites--namely, Frank the dealer's hangout. There I was able to reproduce the bug and actually witness the blood from the NPC taking damage from the environment immediately prior to them ganging up on ED-E.

The good news is, it happens almost exclusively indoors. I assume pathfinding gives NPCs more options to walk around junk when they're out in the open. The bad news is, the only way to safeguard yourself from it is to leave Ed-E outside or become the wasteland's first ever custodial crusader. Tender Vittles 03:30, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Secondary Bug: ED-E Has completely vanished from my screen. He cannot be located anywhere with me, he is not clickable in any way, but any interaction with other npc's ((such as trying to enter the Lucky 38 or Trying to take Rex with me)) I am informed that I have a companion. I went back to Primm to see if he was sitting there, no dice. How the hell do I fix this? -- Apollyon

Yeah, I have that one happening right now. I heard you can do a console command, but I have a 360, so I just have to deal with it. You at least get to keep his perk though.--129.82.87.77 00:24, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

Well, you do keep the perk, but it doesn't work unless he is close to you, so you don't really have it. This is from my experience, anyways. Which really is terrible, being a sniper character and all, I loved detecting enemies from so far away. Pretty sure I'm going to start over after 45 hours of gameplay because of this. 67.253.255.100 07:00, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

Wrong BaseID[]

I can't spawn the Brotherhood Armor Upgrade version of ED-E using it's BaseId with the placeatme command. I think the ID on the page is wrong. Ivarsa15 16:46, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Use the ref ID and use moveto.player. All three versions exist in the game world by default. And, yes, the base id was wrong, I transposed the 6 and 9 when I added them to the page. Fixed now.

NOT pronouced Eddie, or Edi[]

It's official pronoucian is just E D E which is what it's creator Whitley calls it in one of it's audio logs as part of the ED-E My Love, even though the quest is a reference to the song 'Eddie My Love' that does not mean it is prounced as such, it's creator calls it E D E, each letter prouced seperately. Follower bug or feature?[]

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature of NV, but currently i have both Boone and ED-E following me. Can anyone verify the possibility of having 2 companions at once? TrixorXD 12:00, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, You can have Boone+ED-E, Veronica+ED-E, and I assume Gannon+ED-E. The only discrepancy is with Rex. I assume you can have one human, and one 'pet'. Haven't tried Lily, though. UraniYum 12:49, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

You can only have one robotic (Rex or ED-E) and one humanoid follower. The only way to make your group a group of 4 is getting on the NCR's goodside and then you can use the radio they give you to call a Ranger to assist you and they will travel with you. MiyuEmi 00:14, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

Cass and ED-E[]

I heard ED-E can use Laser Pistols or any energy based weapon if you give it one. Does this work? I even noticed that you dont get the message like with Rex if you switch him to melee, can he use melee? Also, whats a good weapon/apparel for Cass?

I dismissed him a bit ago because I needed to test something. SO I went back to primm to find him and nada. He's not in the shop. I completed the brotherhood part of the quest for him and I've done rex's quest (but don't have rex, dismissed him pretty quick too)--Crossmr 04:30, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, same happened to me. It disappeard (XBox360). I did not fire it, but it stop following me around. I still have its perk, so it is still my follower, but I don´t know where the poor bastard is. Saved and reloaded. Reboot the console and nada. Any workaround? tks.

    • Maybe a silly question, but have you been to the Lucky 38 yet? If you have been to the Lucky 38, all companions you dismiss return there and not to their homes. At least they did for me. As for the second query, did you ever ask E-DE to wait? If you did, they're still sitting there. If not, try just entering and exiting a building a few times. I briefly partnered with Cass, lost her and fast travelled a couple times and she just arrived next to me.

Yeah, I´ve been to the Lucky 38, search every single corner of that morbid residence and still no sign of it. I am not sure if I asked it to wait, but I am assuming it works exactly as in Fallout 3: after 8 days of ingame time, companions told to wait return to their original places. Those 8 days a gone for a while now, and the poor Enclave offspring is not in Primm or even in Lucky 38. :/

If your followers are missing, go to Vault 22 and use the elevator there, it'll pull both followers (if you have 2) to that location due to a small bug with said elevator. I had Veronika disappear on me from the Lucky 38 and that brought her right to my side in Vault 22, it should work on ED-E as well if you're still benefiting from his perk.

I accidentally hit the tripwire in Bloodborne cave, causing Boone to go unconscious and ED-E to just vanish. I still have his perk, so he is still a companion, but I have waited days and cannot find him.--86.44.139.230 08:10, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

the elevator trick worked for me, with boone, but, sadly, not with ED-E, who has been AWOL, for quite some time. i still have his perk, and i've searched every corner of primm. i've been to the 38, but only breezed thru the lobby, then ran out, instead of staying, and speaking to the Boss. i guess i'll try there.--Logopile 18:27, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Its worth noting ( Bethesdia ) that if ED-E while a follower of yours disappears and the elevator trick doesnt work, then none of the games ending quests are completable as they all require you to leave your followers outside of Ceasars tent to progress the quest. This is unachievable as you have to manually set your followers to "wait" outside which cannot be done if ED-E has disappeared.

That's strange - my ED-E has been missing for about a week now (IRL), I've tried all of the suggested fixes and still nothing. I was able to go into Caesar's tent though - I only had to tell my Scribe companion to wait outside. (Xbox 360) 161.50.48.2 23:52, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

Random take-off[]

I had ED-E just randomly take off on me...as in quit follower status, lost perk, all that jazz out of the blue O.o Wtf? And now he's conning as hostile in the Primm workshop where he returns too (likely due to a piece of armor laying on the ground directly below where he starts in the workshop), anyone else had him take off like that or does that tie into telling a follower to wait for extended periods of time? I've told him to wait for longer periods before and never had an issue - The Godchild --67.193.11.186 06:55, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

The same thing happened to me. I ended up killing him... now im sad D:

I can confirm this (on PC).

Possible reason for people attacking ED-E.[]

After a few playthroughs, I noticed a pattern with ED-E being attacked randomly. If ED-E is recruited after getting Primm a sheriff, they will be fine. If ED-E is recruited before, they'll be attacked. I'm not sure what could cause his distinction, but it's the only clear result i've noticed. It may also depend on the manner of how you activate the bot, but I can't confirm that. Another reason could be an issue with the patch, though I doubt it. The playthrough without ED-E attacking everyone, they were recruited before it, all other ones were after the patch. CloudT 13:33, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Did some more testing, think I figured it out. Repairing with the repair skill, or science skill, left with ED-E being fine. But I tried with parts, and then ED-E had the attacking problem. If I was to guess why, most people use stolen pieces of scrap metal, electronics, and/or sensor modules. Using it to repair ED-E may bring the stolen tag onto ED-E, then having people mark the robot as a thief, causing them to attack on sight. CloudT 14:27, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

  • Not sure about this. I've had this issue with ED-E as well. What I did was I switched it to melee attack (which ED-E doesn't have). Without an option to attack anymore, ED-E never goes into combat with others. It would seem that ED-E is not being attacked, but instead he is attacking for some reason. Whether this is a bug of the game, a bug of the robot or by design of both is up for speculation. In any event, you can always switch the robot to melee mode. Be warned, however, that some incidents cause ED-E to return to ranged combat mode (telling him to leave the party seems to do this and I'm sure it's happened for some other reason as well). ED-E's music / My edit[]

I edited the article to mention that the patriotic-like music that ED-E plays could be a reference to the patriotic music played by the eyebots in Fallout 3. However, my edit was removed shortly after by a revert. Should I re-add it or was there a good reason for the revert?BrentH27 03:54, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

I didn't remove the reference, but the music is more cowboy/western than it is patriotic (at least in my opinion). CaTigeReptile 20:44, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Rex's Brain[]

I'm probably answering my own question with this but, I put a new brain into Rex (one of the junkyard dogs), and now I have another one I want to put into him (Lula's). I went back to the Dr. and talked to him but there was no option to put a new brain in. So, can this only be done once? I'm guessing the answer is yes.

--What does this have to do with ED-E?

Died during There Stands the Grass[]

I had already had ED-E die on me once when I shot him while he was unconscious so I guess that explosion in Vault 22 killed him. Resurrect and moveto player make his map marker appear near me but not the robot himself. Any ideas on how to fix this? I have the weapon upgrade one.

Model changed for upgrade?[]

I don't really believe this, but I read something that seemed to suggest that getting ED-E upgraded by the Brotherhood or the Followers will change its in-game model as well. I couldn't tell the difference the last time I gave ED-E to Lorenzo, so can someone check if there's actually a difference in the model? :Starshade 16:59, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

I noticed a few minor changes when i gave ED-E to The Followers Of The Apocalypse.the license plates/poster or whatever it is on ED-Es side was removed and ED-Es zapper become somewhat bigger,so yes ED-E do get a few minor changes in appearance.Ragedaoneanlonely 14:50, November 14, 2010 (UTC)

ED-E in All Roads[]

While an eyebot does appear on the cover of the graphic novel, it is impossible to identify it as ED-E as it lacks any notable characteristics of the robot (no license plate, bumper sticker, etc). Similarly the cover art features many, many people and items (most notably ranger combat armor and reinforced metal armor) but they are not all added either.Mictlantecuhtli 17:04, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

ED-E wont move![]

Was clearing out Quarry Junction and ED-E got knocked out by a death claw. When it got back up,it was fixed in one place.I could hear the sound that plays when he moves and talk with him and everything but he doesnt change position. He fast travels with me but will be stuck in the position that he started with after fast-travel.I have tried dismissing him and making him wait/follow but it doesnt help.I havnt compleated his compannion quest yet. This was on PS3 if anyone else have experienced this or know how to fix this gimme a shout.

>> Did you take him into a casino? If you did, this removes his (or any companion's) weapon permanently, and it is gone forever. ED-E will do as you described - plays the battle music, but will just sit there doing nothing, then will not follow you after a battle. There is no fix for this, hopefully it is patched soon. (PS3 only?) 74.14.149.127 15:24, November 14, 2010 (UTC)

On the pc i have the same or similar problem. After finishing the E-DE my love quest it just stopped moving after a fight. It does fast travel, or stays with me when i enter a room. I tried leaving it in primm, then retried bringing it with me. same result.

"Sigh"All of these bugs are taking a toll on me.Id like to be able to walk 15 feet without having to look behind just to check if my companions are still following me,im seriously considering whether or not i should just leave them at lucky 38 and go solo.I mostly use compannions as a sort of pack brahmin, but the time i haft to use to make sure that they are still behind me and/or avoid/fix any glitches i might encounter with them,it might just be faster for me to drag all my gear back myself.Anyhow to answer your question:Yes ED-E had been with me in the casinos a few times, but it was quite a while afterwards that he actualy got the glitch. Before getting ripped apart by that deathclaw he worked just fine(well as fine a compannion CAN work in F:NV).Ragedaoneanlonely 22:51, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Try this for PC atleast. using the console type in kill then target ed-e. after he dies target him again and type resurrect. this should reset him and he will start following you again.

After reading all these ED-E bugs I think mine goes here: Format = PC. So I completed ED-E My Love and went to collect him from Primm after getting the armor upgraded (as he was a bit of a pussy if in melee range with enemies), which went according to plan, 15 hours of hassle free gaming passed me by when I started to explore vault 3. I walked down the first flight of stairs, turned to look at him when his music started just to make sure he hadn't gone the other way and was still following me and he disappeared (as in vanished infront of me, he didn't moved just vanished)! I just thought sod it, as I got all the XP out him that I could. Running through some towns I hear the locals saying "nice robot" or "thats a wierd looking robot" even tho he is isn't on my screen, I still have the Enhanced Sensors perk so I know he is still part of my collective but I can't finish off The Kings Quest line, as Rex will not follow me as I have a cyber pet already. I cannot target him to kill him as he is invisable and obviously can't start a conversation with due to him not being there, there is no marker for him on the world map and I even spent/wasted 5 hours running around vault 3 trying to unbug the invisable little git to no avail. 35 hours into this and I really don't want to start it again nor will I replay the game after completion, I just wanted to complete everything and explore every area before going to see Benny and give him a slap, as I've heard/read that after the main story is finished there is no free roam! really frustrating, any ideas people ?? A9Abs 28/11/2010 01:00 GMT

Just to let you all know, I've sorted it and anyone having issues like this needs to type the following ` to enter the command page, then type the following: player.placeatme 001694e0 this will spawn ED-E with armor upgrade at your location ;) change the base ID to what you need and your sorted. ED-E glitchy death on hardcore mode?(PS3)[]

After upgrading ED-E with the Brotherhood's help, I went to Vault 22 to complete the quest(s) there. Once I got to the floor with the keycard-locked door to the mantis filled caves, both ED-E and Veronica went nuts because of the Mantis' magical ability to go to full caution through walls in Vault 22. I ignored my companions for a while since there was a locked door between them and the mantis but I then realized that companions often do weird things when they were out of sight/range.

So I get to the room with the locked door, find Veronica running against the wall just a second before I witness the unmistakable exploding "pop" of an Eyebot dying somehow halfway clipped through the locked door... ED-E is definitely dead but I don't get the two pop-up messages about him dying and me losing Enhanced Sensors. I reloaded the auto-save and kept a closer eye on ED-E while running through Fallout Wiki but then after I finally exited, ED-E is now totally gone. Still have the perk and NPCs and Arcade all make mention of him but even Fallout Wiki 22 elevator "trick" to bring back wayward companions doesn't seem to work.

So I'm guessing he found a way to die on me again and that the fact that the Upgraded ED-E isn't the same "ED-E" in terms of the game's various NPC IDs is somehow messing with his death on Hardcore mode.Dr. Lobotomy 17:11, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

ED-E's Hit Points[]

I was level 7 when I fixed ED-E.And I'm level 10 right now but ED-E hasn't gained even 1 HP.Is it normal or is it a bug?I have Boone aswell and he has gained 15 HP so far (I got him in level 7 too)

Dead but not gone?[]

I'm doing an NCR playthrough and decided to storm The Fort with ED-E and Boone. After killing Caesar and his guards I couldn't find ED-E. I think maybe he's dead, but I still have his perk. Bugs me because now I can't recruit Arcade, and I haven't done Auld Lang Syne yet.

ED-E's ending?[]

I complete the game with ED-E, upgrades and all, but does his ending translate or mean anything?

I want my E, D, Eeeeeee.[]

I really want him back. We need some sort of patch or update that will return followers who have vanished, but are still participating as your companion. He's got a lot of rare and valuable stuff on him, and I haven't seem for a month since hitting the tripwire in BloodBorne Cave. Vault 22 does work for Boone (if I tell him to wait somewhere, he will appear in Fallout Wiki) but ED-E never shows up. I miss him dearly, and hope he isn't in trouble. But with my bloody Tesla-Beaton prototype that was never fired at all, he should be okay.--86.42.253.214 10:24, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

<<< Try to go back to BloodBorne Cave. That sometimes works in XBL.

I have, many times. Today I went there and waited for over a week. Walked around every square inch of the place and still no sight of him.86.42.253.214 16:12, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Healing[]

I'm curious, but does ED-E ever heal after a battle? All other followers I've had heal up to 100% after a fight...but sadly not ED-E. Yes, he's a robot, so perhaps this isn't in his programming (or the game's coding). Or it's another bug. I can manually heal him with stimpacks after each battle, but it's getting a bit bothersome. Anyone else? Cheers, --66.227.219.174 04:26, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Heals after battles just fine for me. Not sure if it makes any difference but I play hardcore and repaired it with parts. --80.5.41.189 22:43, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Unexplained attacking or hostility against NPCs[]

"We have fixed this behavior for the upcoming patch."

Could someone please add a date for that quote? In PC version 1.2.0.285, ED-E still goes nuts every so often. He always attacks the First Recon team at Camp McCarran for instance. — Lovable Sociopath 17:08, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

I've had a similar problem with ED-E shooting up everyone in the Silver Rush on 360. I wonder if it's always the same NPCs or random. ````Kaz

ED-E Turning hostile...TOWARDS ME ?![]

Okay, so I had ED-E and Boone as followers, but then they both vanished. So I waited as the forums said to do until a message came up saying "Boone has returned to Novac" and "ED-E has returned to Primm". HOWEVER, when I went to Primm to collect ED-E he was hostile towards me and started attacking Johnson Nash and EVERYONE in town. I was going to collect it for it's upgrade, it must really not want to go. I never attacked ED-E when I had him as a follower. Also, I do not have Fallout on PC so doing a console command is not an option. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neonclouds (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

FIXED -- I fast travelled out of Primm to the Hidden Valley Bunker and did the repairs without ED-E following (Somehow) I waited a few days, returned to Primm and it had calmed down a bit. Wasn't so bad after all, was it ED-E? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neonclouds (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

All Roads[]

Stop adding ED-E as being part of All Roads, the eyebot on the cover cannot be said with 100% certainty to be ED-E. Mictlantecuhtli 13:48, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

As I have explained at length on my talk page, ED-E can be identified as ED-E with 100% certainty as ED-E is not only the only Duraframe eyebot in the Mojave Wasteland (if not the only Duraframe eyebot in existence), but it is the only eyebot in the Mojave period. --Flower of Pock-Lips 17:09, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
In the limited context of the cover it cannot be 100% identified as ED-E, a sunset sarsaparilla bot was meant to appear also and there is an eyebot in the REPCONN museum. Mictlantecuhtli 17:53, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
Except the Sunset Sarsaparilla bot didn't appear, and the eyebot in the REPCONN Museum is non-functional. And neither are Duraframe, like the eyebot on the cover clearly is. Following your thinking, we should remove Jessup and McMurphy from the list of characters appearing in All Roads because for all we know the characters in the novel could have just been Khans who just so happened to be identical in name and appearance to the ones in the game, and therefore we cannot 100% positively identify them as appearing in the novel. --Flower of Pock-Lips 17:59, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
Stop being a big baby and realize it is not 100% the eyebot on the cover. The Enclave might've sent more eyebots and they all moved on to California and whatnot.
But ED-E is the ONLY duraframe eyebot ever produced by the Enclave. The Enclave itself didn't have any extra duraframe eyebots to send to California, ED-E being the only prototype. Therefore, the chance of another duraframe eyebot being present in the Mojave at the time of All Roads is zero, which means that the duraframe eyebot shown in the All Roads cover is 100% positive to be ED-E.
But how can you be sure? How can you be sure 100% that you're right? Canon can't confirm it. No matter the evidence, assumptions cannot be made.

ED-E is definitely the one in the trailer. If you watched it, you would realize it has the bumper stickers and the license plate on it. Please watch it before you comment and complain about it.

Edit: The license plate even says "2ED-E59" and the bumper sticker "My child is an HONOR STUDENT at Roosevelt Academy", the exact same thing as ED-E's license plate and bumper sticker do in the game.
Dude, All Roads is a graphic novel. You should look it up before being so rash and know-it-all.

Ps3 Patch Europe.[]

Has anyone who got this patch found their lost ED-E yet? Companions are now located on the map, but mine is still stuck somewhere in or around BloodBorne Cave. Vault 22 elevator did nothing.--86.44.140.20 07:41, December 10, 2010 (UTC)

ed-e bugs cleanup[]

Pardon me for not doing this myself, but I don't know how to edit a wiki in a manner that doesn't look terrible.

Bugs 2, 5, 10 and 11 all relate to ED-E dying and the Courier retaining the Enhanced Sensors perk. I can confirm this on the Xbox 360 and all of the bugs can be condensed into one entry indicating that if he is knocked unconscious, then takes damage while on the ground, he explodes and dies, but is never removed from his companion slot.

You DO also lose all equipment that was on him, as his explosion type is like that of a turret's; there is no body left to loot. 24.27.46.248 22:22, December 10, 2010 (UTC)

Also it should be noted that this seems to only occur after youv completed ed-e my love, but then again ive never had this happened unless it was me messing around and i made him explode, in some circumstances it might be possible that an npc causes it but it seems unlikely.

NPC Comments when Dead[]

This is a hard thing to test, but on core mode, if anyone knows for certain that ED-E is dead, as in they saw him explode, can they confirm whether or not NPC's still say the various comments about him when you walk by them?--

Yes they still talk about ED-E as if he was there, and I stopped playing for months hoping they would fix this, but nothing brings him back. I lost half my unique weapons and a bunch of supplies that he was carrying it, but I've basically gotten over it now. They stop talking about him if you send him home via Lucky 38 command console, but he's nowhere to be found in Primm. I'm started playing again last week, and I'm gonna try and beat this data, but I still check back to see if maybe that little guy came back...

Ed-E laser change[]

So does Ed-e change the color of his laser when upgraded? 1.02 patch notes say it does, so I added it to the page but It was edited out (along with other stuff that probably should have stayed there). --SkyHiRider 20:08, December 12, 2010 (UTC)

It's no longer a "laser" it's closer to the energy bolts fired by the Alien Blaster in appearance, complete with the "electric" disintegration effect but with the sound effect reminiscent to one of the weapons from Mothership Zeta.
And it seem that you can glitch it to get it without even completing the followers' side of ED-E my Love. After installing the PS3 1.02 patch, I came back from The Fort using the barge(not fast travel) and ED-E was now using both his upgraded weapon and his standard laser depending on range... even though I hadn't even triggered the choice of BoS vs. Followers yet. Probably a bug or oversight in the returning of your weapons on leaving. I'm curious if it makes it possible to get both ED-E's +20DT and upgraded blaster or if this glitch is even repeatable.Dr. Lobotomy 18:42, December 15, 2010 (UTC)
I just gave ED-E to the FoA to upgrade his weapon, he was using 1 weight and had nothing else in his inventory when I handed him over to the Followers. When I got him back at Primm he was now using 3 weight and alternating fire between the red laser/blue laser weapons. Using the Resurrect console command on him respawned him with 1 weight & the blue laser weapon.
I tried the quest a second time, this time putting some junk in his inventory. Picked him up from Primm after the upgrade, and he still had the junk items on him along with both of his weapons. Ki Shodar 08:54, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

I finished the ED-E My Love quest early in the game and gave him the upgraded DT from the BoS. I noticed that after going to The Fort that ED-D had a blue laser AND a red laser. I also noticed ED-E's annoying static sound about 2 hours into gameplay, esp occurs after accessing the inventory, and thought maybe my video or sound card was dying. Thanks to your posts (above) and Steam Forums I now know the truth. Now ED-E's got the two lasers and though it's kind of cool now I need to learn how to use GECK so I can edit out that annoying static sound. Dave-in-Japan 17:00, December 23, 2011 (JLT)

ED-E shoots missiles[]

Has anyone else encountered a bug where upon giving ED-E a few missiles he will fire one at enemies? I have, and it was quite hilarious, a missile just appeared from ED-E, and it was flying extremely slow. It still exploded, killing a gecko and crippling me. Just curious to see if this has happened to anyone else either on the Xbox like me or another platform. BlackHawk117 00:46, December 14, 2010 (UTC)

Why does ED-E attack NPCs randomly?[]

This has happened for a while now, but I simply solve the problem by loading it back up. But this time it is different. I tell him to go back to Lucky 38 while I do a couple of things alone. When I get back I see that ED-E is attacking and KILLING all of my companions! As in they are just burn into ashes! Yes this looks impressive at first, but after loading back up 20 times already see the same thing happen it gets annoying. So everytime I go back to my place ED-E kills everyone.

So is there going to be a patch soon that will fix this. Until that patch, I will not be able to play.

Or you could just dismiss ED-E to have him wait for you in Primm or the Lucky 38. --Pongsifu 01:00, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

where are the BoS in the wasteland? i cant find them and i wanna upgrade Ed-e

the weird thing about ED-E randomly attacking people is that they turn round and attack ME! i still cant find the BoS.

The Mojave Wasteland chapter of the BoS is located in the Hidden Valley bunker system -Abel-021

Stuck in BoS Dialog Workaround?[]

So is the only way to avoid the BoS-Anglo-to-Hispanic-Now-You-Are-Stuck-in-Dialog bug (unless you are on a PC) to dismiss ED-E before the BoS initiates this dialog through him? Since right now, it's a total game-ender. I assume there are some quests I did to help it along, but right now he's hitting the last, bugged, piece of dialog on his own shortly after my last save without any interactions occurring (I am guessing they happened along the way and he activates off of them at a later time). --74.73.27.227 05:12, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

You can avoid the the weird accent switching dialogue by not discovering/going to Hidden Valley before you get the message. That way Lorenzo's message plays correctly without the weird accent switch and you only get the Followers of the Apocalypse part of the message when you later discover Hidden Valley.Dr. Lobotomy 01:43, December 21, 2010 (UTC)

Inventory noise[]

Since installing the latest patch (on Xbox) ED-E makes a continuous buzzing noise after accessing his inventory and then leaving dialogue. It keeps making the sound until I enter/exit an area or save/reload. Anyone else notice this? -72.201.220.39 23:15, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I had this problem on pc. If you have pc version you can use geck and remove idle sound effect from edezapgunupgrade.

I'm experiencing this sound bug too, any chance you could expand upon how to remove the aforementioned sound effect? I'm familiar with the GECK but far from an expert. Thanks

In the GECK, navigate to Actors/Creature/Robot/Eyebot. Double-click NVCompanionEdEUpgradeWeapons, which is the actor script for the weapons-upgraded E-DE. Go to Inventory-tab and double-click EDEZapGunUpgrade. In the new window, go to Art and Sound-tab and look for "Idle Sound". It should say "WPNTeslaCannonIdleLP", which is the buzzing / static noise, and set it to blank (scroll to the top and select the whitespace). Hit OK, close the property windows and save.

NOTE: The changes made are saved to a new ESP-file with only the altered information stored. Hope that helps.

Hostility To you after dead money[]

before dead money, I had him following, when i got gassed him and veronica went back to their spawns, after I completed the DLC I went to find him and he is hostile towards me! I cant make him stop being hostile by fast traveling waiting or sleeping and he keeps kill surround NPC's like johnson and ruby nash? Is this happening to anyone else?

  • Yeah. Try one of the above fixes for the hostility. Someone mentioned something about a Ranger Takedown method. For me, ED-E is gone forever. It said that he returned to Primm when Dead Money Started, but he is nowhere to be found. I guess I'll just go and get Rex.
  • Have the same issue post dead money completion [XBOX 360]. As soon as I enter the Nash Residence, ED-E goes nuts. Haven't tried the Ranger Take Down, since I don't have. Any other fixes for his much needed inventory space? Was attempting to take out his combat inhibitor, but just didn't get a chance sans killing him multiple times lol
  • Same [XBOX 360]. Wondering if that's intentional or a bug. ED-E easily is the most glitched companion in the whole game ...
  • The only way I know to fix this is to simply replay dead money but before you go to the abandoned BOS bunker remove ED-E as a companion and send him back to Primm. When you collect him after dead money he should act normally. [XBOX 360]
  • By the way, don't leave the house. When I did, Veronica went unconscious, then John Nash died and fell out of the door, and then I died...but I had full health, and ED-E never left... LucidDreams 04:53, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

Please Fix the "Crazy Killer ED-E, Post-Dead Money, at Primm" Bug[]

I know that I get too attached to my companions in these games, but emotional investment is a hazard of getting completely lost in a game and what also makes it great. That said, I am seriously pissed off with the fact that I can no longer recruit Ed-E after completing the Dead Money DLC!!! Not only have I lost my favorite little buddy, but he also has ALL MY BEST WEAPONS!!! Whenever I go to Primm to try and re-recruit him he flips out and kills everything in sight! Including me! I tried the Ranger Takedown method that's mentioned, but that didn't work. I killed him to reclaim the weapons, but he completely blows up when he dies i.e. he disintegrates. I tried stealing them back with 100 sneak an stealthed, but he catches me every time. THIS IS A SERIOUS BUG! IF I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, I WOULD NEVER HAVE PURCHASED THE DLC!! Please, powers that be, fix this - I want my ED-E (and alien blaster, et al.) back.

Whoever wrote the above post, i echo his thought exactly. After grinding my way through the joyless torture session called Dead Money, ED-E loses his mind and kills everything when i go to get him back. I'm so sick of all the bugs with New Vegas not working. ED-E was about the only fun, cute thing left that kept me playing, and now this stupid game (whose programming is stuffed up it's own ass) has even glitched that out and taken it away from me. Good luck to the rest of you. Masochism isn't my thing. Vault Girl 31 March 2011
I agree. About your weapons, though. You can pickpocket him the moment you enter, then use a stealth boy and sneak out. i'm just waiting until they do fix it. And everyone who says they can fix it...please upload a video. LucidDreams 05:09, April 10, 2011 (UTC)
If Ed-e was the only thing keeping you playing, you bought the wrong game. As for your items; with fallout ALWAYS keep backup saves and constantly auto save. Learn about common glitches and problems and check them before each save. Wait a week or two before a major patch for each DLC you start. Start a new game if it did that much damage.--216.6.170.90 06:53, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

FoA's upgrade not working[]

I handed ED-E to the Followers and when they gave it back to me, he shooted his normal laser and is a little less responsive in combat. certainly it looks like they just removed the stickers and maked him dumber, i don't have xbox live so i don't have any patches, is there a way to fix it?.

I finished the Sierra Madre DLC, and went back to Primm to pick up ED-E again. I had Lily in tow when I fast travelled. When i opened the door to the Nash residence, ED-E attacked me! Then Lily goes and KILLS HIM! I have the game on Xbox, and am unsure of what to do, mainly because I lost ED-E when he still had gear. He was upgraded, so I don't think I can use the repair method. Also, the game is NOT on hardcore mode, so I am unsure how he died in the first place. Suggestions? 67.80.179.252 23:31, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

Irresponsive[]

I just went to Vault 22 and it seems that ED-E became irresponsive, he doesn't attack and barely moves (but sometimes plays it's music) please i want my ED-E back, is there a way to fix this?.

Revert to an autosave or your last save for one thing, but you can try switching his wait or follow options on and off, fast travelling to a new area and etc, stuff like this is usually quite easy to fix but the best way is to prevent it by saving often and simply reverting to the last save if you encounter something like that.

Heheh, what a mess.[]

Can someone clean the mess up please in the second paragraph? It's distracting.

ED-E gets upgraded for endgame?[]

After ED-E My Love I gave him the BoS armor upgrade. I took him and Veronica along with me doing the House Always Wins questline, and when we got to Legate's camp I noticed he now shoots blue bolts, as if he now also has the Followers' upgrade. Has anyone else seen this? Is this how it is supposed to go?--Morty343 06:30, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

This happens to me sometimes during normal gameplay, there seems to be no particular trigger as it happened to me while i wasnt doing a quest or anything. it switches back to the zapper after a period of time though. Its just a bug.

ED-E go home[]

A curious problem - ED-E won't move. Won't follow me, won't return to Lucky 38 when I select "Terminate Protocol", won't "Back Up" (from the companion wheel), and if enemy is close, won't shoot or play his music. However, when I fast travel, he is there, right next to me. And to note, he DOES sometimes move, but rarely. Don't know what to do... This happened not long ago. I am currently 28 level, and this happened around my 26th level. I can't do a thing with it. Sure, I can take Rex instead ED-E, but this thing annoys me quite a lot, and I want to fix it. Suggestions??? --Atomkilla 15:42, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

You probably took him into a casino and he lost his electrical zap. Go into his companion wheel and tell me what weapon he is using.Vault 815 19:12, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

I had this happen on the PC and was able to fix ED-E by going to the console, selecting ED-E with the mouse, typing disable then enter, then enable then enter. He was normal after that.--Morty343 19:28, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get ede back because after doing dead money he has gone mad he is trying to kill me so i thought sending him to lucky 38 before doing the add on again but i dont want to do it again it took me 3 hours to do it and i can not be bothered to do it again so does anyone have any idea to get him back without starting the pack again. thanks.

ED-E's disappeared! Twice![]

ED-E has been may favourite companion and I got him when I was still a Goodspringer! But he has disappeared on TWO memories! Pre-patch and post-patch! Think this should be added to the bugs section?

Phantom Weight[]

I have never brought ED-E with me to The Fort, but have brought him with me to the Casinos. I also chose to upgrade his weapon just to avoid this. He currently has 7 pounds and is carrying nothing. I'm playing on the 360 and was just wondering if anyone else is having the same or similar problems.--Drunken Lemur 03:04, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

Same thing happen to me, 12 pounds without anything, i am not missing anything, and at the same time, he started shooting the blue laser, and i have not upgraded it at all, i am playing the ps3 version, full patch, non-dead money dlc [Darkzide] 5:38 PM 3/17/11

ED-E not getting a health increase after armor upgrade?[]

I have finished the ED-E My Love quest through siding with BoS and getting armor upgrade for ED-E. When I went back to Primm to pick it up, I noticed that its health is still shown as 180, while its metallic texture is renewed. Is this a bug? If so, is there a way to fix it?

The BoS doesn't upgrade ED-E's health. His bonus is increased DR or DT. (Can't remember which)

Actually the BoS upgraded my ED-E's health. It now has 360, plus the extra DT.

Never got the message[]

I never got the message that ED-E was upgrade and ready for pickup and its been days. A random Great Khan showed up and initiated a zoom in on her face without dialog when i was in the Kings place( she doesn't leave either). I dont know if they are related but where do i get ED-E back?

ED-E and Alien Blaster[]

The article contains the note: ED-E will use the Alien Blaster if it is placed in its inventory, making its attacks almost unstoppable, upgraded or not. Can anyone confirm? I've tested it and I can't make it happen, and I can't find this information anywhere else. 216.67.7.176 04:35, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

I personally cannot get it to shoot anything besides it's default weapons. When ed-e's weapon system is upgraded, the shots look very similar to the alien blaster shots. There are lots of bugs where you can actually get it to fire the upgraded weapon without even going through the ed-e my love quest.76.85.171.65 09:47, May 28, 2011 (UTC)

ed-e error[]

hi guys, im playing fallout new vegas on pc and i handed ed-e over to the followers for an upgrade, unfortunatly she had some of my weapons on her and now they are not on her anymore, is there anyway of getting these back?

console commands.

Nope Sorry should have read quest

ED-E Hostile.[]

Hey. I had ED-E waiting at my house while I snuck around doing..... sneaky things, and it said he returned to Primm. When I went to recollect him, he opened up on the Nash's and I, killing Johnson immediately. I left and waited 3 days, and re-entered the building. Still hostile. I waited 7 days, and he still attacked. Finally, I fast traveled to Nellis (Farthest location from Primm) waited about a month in-game time, and when I went back, he was still freaking hostile. So, I come here today to ask if anyone has a fix for this. I tried that "Ranger Takedown and Stealth Boy" strategy. Didn't work, but maybe I haven't tried it enough. Also, I play on 360, so console commands aren't gonna work. Thanks.--With care and happiness, Supermutantslayer450' YOU. LOSE. 17:40, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

It didn't work for me at first, but eventually it worked. So walk in, wearing your best armour and with med-x, because he might attack you first. Run around the wall and let him kill the other two (or you can wait until Ruby leaves the store and go in then). Then use the ranger takedown move. Now remain standing up, and span the A button (or whatever the talk button is on PS3). He will be friendly for a few moments after he gets up (if you are crouching, it says danger, but it is green), but will be unresponsive. There will be a split second between when he becomes active and when he becomes hostile again, and if you keep spamming talk, you can talk to him. Select initiate companion protocol, and he will be a companion again. Also, here's something I've noticed: when you come in, whether he sees you or not, you cannot interact with him. However, if he sees you, then you use a stealth boy (which automatically makes him lose sight of you), you are able to go and pickpocket him. So perhaps, when you come in, ED-E is running the script for a normal robot (who you would be unable to talk to or pickpocket).
I hope some of this helps. LucidDreams 18:10, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

Not returned from Dead Money[]

He's not in the store in Primm. Does he go somewhere else? It said Primm as I started the DLC.--85.237.212.161 18:02, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

"ED-ESP"[]

What the heck?? That E59 = ESP in 1337 speak is logically incoherent. You can't say, "ED-E59" and use that as a basis for a theory, when you're arbitrarily ignoring the 2. With that sort of logic you could just drop out the 9 at the end, or all the letters, for whatever strange reason you desire. Watch closely as I demonstrate how foolish this is: "2ED, the first part of the E-DE's license plate, reads "ZED" in l33t speak, which as everyone knows is a slang term for zombies. I THINK THIS MEANS ED-E IS A ZOMBIE!!!1??" Seriously, though, I hate scatterbrained theories. Please do not post them, if not for my (anonymous internet person) sake, then for the children. Sincerely Kamov 23:54, March 24, 2011 (UTC)

How much can ED-E carry?

ED-E's maximum carry weight is 210 pounds.Gator Country 16:08, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

I have to agree with that, I really think someone should remove that "note" Coalition 17:00, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

We got ourselves an unstoppable force![]

I have beaten the game four times (Achievements). However in my first file, when I upgraded ED-E by way of Brotherhood of Steel, his armor got that nice Brotherhood touch BUT it also got the weapons upgrade. Can anyone else confirm this happening to anyone else?

Mod Recommendation[]

Are we allowed to recommend mods? There's a mod for ED-E available — Light Step ED-E (http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35526) — which gives ED-E the Light Step perk. I mean, it really should be built into the game. ED-E is a hovering robot, and should not set off and be damaged by bear traps! ED-E hovers slightly higher than your head, and should be far out of any bear trap's reach. Not to mention all the other floor level traps and activators around. But bear traps!? Really? C'mon! 98.163.227.30 13:49, April 20, 2011 (UTC)

ED-E gone[]

I don't know where ED-E went. I think he got knocked out outside of Nellis but then I went in a building and he's not there. I checked in Primm an the Lucky 38 to see if he just got lost but he's not there. He's still my companion, though, and I still have his perk. Because of this, I can't get Rex. I've tried entering Vault 24 and using the elevator in Vault 22(21?) but nothing's happened. I don't know where he is, but I'm also getting random experience and I'm not sure what to do. Please help. Oops, I meant Vault 11, not 24. Does a Vault 24 exist?

It's most likely that he was killed by the artillery. There is a bug where if ed-e receives explosive damage while on the ground, it will permanently kill it and leave no body behind, much like when a turret is destroyed. The game will think it's still your companion, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get it back if Ed-e was lost in this manner other than reloading from before that point.

ED-E is not good with explosions[]

ED-E doesnt do particularly well with explosions. When fighting the legendary deathclaw my meltown perk worked a little too well, and after dead money he didnt come back to primm. in my second file i lost him in the explosion in vault 22 and i refuse to go through dead money again. anyone know a solution?

Max hit point dropped to 50[]

I am level 30. EDE's hp was like 400. When I noticed it's already 50. I have dismissed it and then get it back at primm, doesn't work, any help? (Magi123 09:54, May 6, 2011 (UTC))

Combining ED-E's bugs[]

I started having problems with my ED-E on my post-patch 1.05 PS3 (I'm at level 30) and after looking into it found a number of different references to similar problems spotted around the ED-E Main and Talk pages, as well as the archive, and all over the interwebs as well. Seems like they should be compiled in one place. Best of all would be a patch to fix them all (or just the one, since it seems like it's all the same problem).

I repaired ED-E early with scrap, etc., and upgraded him with the Followers a long time ago. Didn't notice any problems until recently; first incident was during a random battle. ED-E disappeared but I didn't notice for a while. I went back and searched around the battlefield, went to Primm, the Lucky 38, waited a week (in game), restarted, and finally loaded a save. This happened a couple more times, and was very annoying. Once he died just from getting stuck in the scenery.

Later at the Fort, where I returned to mine some 12.7mm SMGs after killing Caesar and everyone else, I finally saw what was happening. When I opened the drawbridge, the respawned Legionaries attacked. ED-E exploded at the first shot, and didn't reappear. I reloaded to the previous save (due to all the GD bugs in FNV I save often, like every few minutes or at every turning point in even a minor quest) and watched more closely. ED-E exploded at even a minor hit, and was gone for good.

I made him wait outside until I killed the Legionaries, finished my looting, and kept a close eye on him (insert eyebot pun) as we traveled. He managed to get killed by just about everything, down to mole rats, and never healed after combat when he survived. His health bar during combat is at 2 bars, and when you open his dialogue window his HP is 0/0. He won't respond to commands to use stimpaks. When he explodes, the notice that "ED-E is unconscious" seems to come and go quickly; I often missed it, especially during battles. There seems no way to fix any of this (on a PS3 or other console); I tried the Fallout Wiki 22 elevator to no avail.

I finally returned him to the Lucky 38 and took Rex, hoping to find some solution here, but no luck. I vastly prefer ED-E with his Enhanced Sensors; since losing him, I've stumbled right into groups of enemies 'cuz I'm used to sensing them so far away. And I don't want to just have the perk without ED-E; I use companions as mules, too. Having ED-E as a companion now is a total pain; it's like one of those crappy quests where you have to shepherd a weak character around and keep them from getting killed while you finish the main objective.

So, to summarize ED-E's disappearance bug, at some point ED-E:

- Loses HP, dropping down to 0;
- Loses the ability to heal after combat;
- Loses the ability to use stimpaks;
- Explodes with even minor hits (or anything that causes loss of consciousness);
- Disappears from the game;
- Does not reappear or return to Primm or the Lucky 38.

This game is getting so hard to play, with endlessly running loading screens, glacial interface screens, slow and choppy framerates, random freezes, and bugs like the ED-E problem, that if they don't release a real patch soon, I'm gonna have to give up.

Tharnhelm 13:54, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

  • In my game, ED-E recently glitched into the 0/0 HP, no-auto-healing, no-stimpak-healing, explode-on-minor-hit condition (Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3, patch v1.2) but this is actually the 2nd time it happens. Unfortunately, I can't remember how I managed to get around the issue when it presented itself the 1st time. --Om3ro 13:09, June 22, 2011 (UTC)
    • It sounds like they may solve this in the next patch, along with other annoying issues. I hope it really is a wide-ranging problem solver; there are so many, sometimes it's more than I can stand just trying to finish a relatively short section of a minor quest. ED-E turned to Ash Pile FIXED[]

Don't know if anyone knows this fix yet but I'll post it just in case. I must have killed ED-E somehow while battling some Nightstalkers and Fire Geckos outside the Bloodborne Cave, even if it isn't Hardcore mode. Didn't even get a message that he died, and the perk was still there. Tried to get Rex but he won't join. Anyway he turned into an Ash Pile. He is the Ash Pile that you can't "open" so I figured out from that that he was dead.

Kay here are the steps:

  1. Enter "prid <refid>".(refid depends on her upgrades) no quotes and <>.
  2. Type "OpenTeammateContainer 1" to open his inventory.
  3. Get all your stuff!
  4. Next, enter "player.moveto <ref_id>" to go to his place.
    • "moveto player" doesn't work somehow.
  5. Find the Ash Pile that you can't open
  6. Open console, click on said Ash Pile
  7. Type zap to delete the Ash Pile.
    • You could also try deleting all the Ash Piles there just in case. Too bad for you if you can't find his ashes, I don't know how to fix that.
  8. Type prid <refid> again, then type resurrect.
    • If he still hasn't appeared type the prid again, then type "moveto player".

So far it worked for me, thank goodness.

Hope that helped a lot guys. I think it'll work for Goo Piles too. If he didn't turn into dust/goo, you could probably just skip step 5 to 7. Anyone wanna post this in his page? — Radstylix 20:06, June 8, 2011 (GMT+8)

Ralphie[]

At The Sink, in OWB, I found a poster for a movie: Ralphie. And it is apparently about an eyebot's incredible journey. --Wierdperson31 21:25, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

ED-E at Raven Rock?[]

Hey guys, is it possible that ED-E was one of the eyebots seen at Raven Rock? This could be true as whoever was working on him could ave taken him from the base to Adams Air Force Base and sent him on his journey during the Lone Wanderer's massacre of the Enclave forces stationed there. I'll check for the similarities between the two models and post back to you guys. --94.12.96.54 02:33, August 9, 2011 (UTC)Phoenixstorms

It's possible from a lore perspective but simply not provable in any way. There were no Duraframe eyebots that appeared in Fallout 3 or any of its DLCs. --Kris User Hola 12:50, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

I believe there are some eyebot prototypes on one of the lab levels in Raven Rock but I haven't figured out which one. (Haven't gotten back to Raven Rock to prove it yet.) p.s I don't mean a Duraframe NPC I mean a model.--94.4.32.220 01:27, August 11, 2011 (UTC)Phoenixstorms

Just checked Raven Rock and no, it isn't a Duraframe just as Kris said. The eyebots in R.R aren't Duraframes, they appear to just be eyebots with mechanical tentacles hanging out. ED-E could have been at Adams Air force base all the time and left before or during the wanderer's massacre.--94.4.32.220 01:54, August 11, 2011 (UTC)Phoenixstorms

Lonesome Road[]

ED-E is going to appear in Lonesome Road!

I know. I saw the trophy for the upgrades.--94.4.32.220 02:53, August 10, 2011 (UTC)Phoenixstorms

Maybe the "courier" that brought ED-E to Nash is Ulysses? We know he was in Primm and we also know that ED-E is going to be upgraded in Lonesome Road. I think it would make sense that Ulysses was the courier who brought it to primm BlackHawk4744 13:52, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

Cleanup[]

I don't see why a large amount of bugs requires a cleanup of the page. There's really not much we can do about it, unless we remove a large amount of the bugs which would just be silly seeing as it's important that they're listed. What's your opinion? Yes Man default 08:36, August 29, 2011 (UTC)

WTF his story doesn't make sense[]

Why the hell would he have gone to San Francisco which is pretty close to his destination, Navarro, but then ended up in the Mojave? Were the FO2 references just where he was supposed to go and never made it? Or did he do a retarded 180 degree turn and go back the way he came? Power Bonkers 23:42, September 2, 2011 (UTC) ED-E never went to san fransico --Shop smart, shop s-mart! 16:23, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

ED-E licence plates[]

Maybe ED-E's licence plates are just a more discreet signal or a way of transmitting location. The enclave outposts showing Enclave command in Navarro they are still active. Just a thought, it'd make sense. --Shop smart, shop s-mart! 16:24, September 4, 2011 (UTC) "Carter190s"

Bug[]

Okay ED-E has loads of my guns, ammos and misc items before I took him to the BoS for the upgrade. But after the completion of the upgrade it's whole inventory disappeared, causing me to lose loads of items and guns and ammos. Shouldn't this be mentioned in the bug section? Or did this happened only to me?

It will happen if you don't have all the patches. We have all the patches and DLC's and ED-E came back from the Brotherhood with his inventory intact. (It was only doctor's bags, Purified water and Stimpaks, which we give all our followers as we play hardcore, the Dr's bags & H2O are for us, the stimpaks are for ED-E. We choose the Brotherhood for the upgraded armor for the same reason.)DarthOrc 05:58, September 18, 2011 (UTC)DarthOrc

Cleanup (issue: Bug section is too big)[]

HA, if the bug section is too big it isn't a problem with the WIKI article....its a problem with the devs leaving so many %^&*ing bugs in the game and rushing its release with the damned "we'll get to it in aftermarket" mentality everybody seems to have now with all the dlc and tu possibilities rather than holding the game back an extra month and releasing when its actually ready/finished

Ammo production without having started Lonesome Road?[]

Just started a new file on New Vegas and as soon as I get to Primm and repair ED-E the option to make ammo pops up. Is that supposed to happen? I also seem to have access to the workbench function as well. User:Great_MaraMessage 06:23, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Ditto. Kinda makes Veronica's perk obsolete. :( --BeardyDan 10:56, September 30, 2011 (UTC)

battle song[]

what is it from?

70.117.157.88 23:41, October 8, 2013 (UTC)ManifestDestiny1998@gmail.com- It's the "Ralphie" theme. It was a show that ED-E loved watching before he was tasked with reaching Nevarro. He apparently wanted to be just like Ralphie, so I guess he decided the theme song from his favorite show would suffice as his "Battle Music". I friggin' love ED-E.

ED-E Repair Bug[]

Just completed Lonesome Road and went to Primm to recruit Mohave ED-E. I asked Mohave ED-E to repair my weapon, but my weapon's health dropped 25% instead! This is terrible. 220.255.2.114 16:08, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

so he'll keep them anyways.

Tactics Oversight?[]

When checking ED-E's tactics through speech instead of the companion wheel, before choosing follow distance or attack type, the option to close tactics says "Open" instead of "Close". Anyone else notice this? 50.29.252.48 23:25, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

where the f#@k is ed-e[]

i had ed-e early on and upgraded his lazer then i went on to do the kings quests fixed up rex and gave him back headed to primm and no ed-e to be found where could he be? x-box version

ED-E has heath that shows 0/0 in companion commands and cannot receive stimpaks. Also, anytime he is struck by an enemy he dies in combat.???

ED-E Attack Sounds[]

I was wondering (and I imagine others as well) if there's any information on the source of the music ED-E plays when he's attacking? Was it specially produced by the designers for the game or is it derived from something as a reference? It definitely stirs a warm "enclave radio" battle frenzy in the cockles of my heart... 108.210.163.244 17:22, April 20, 2012 (UTC)

The licence plate has meaning[]

Ed-E had a licence plate from Illinois that makes the point of that state relative in a passing note way. Sure it is not a pivotal thing but the reason we have a "Notes" section is to make related notations and the fact that ~ Once upon a time when the Cold war felt hot to me and my family, when we were indeed put through duck and cover drills, like a grade school desk could in any way protect a child from an atomic bomb. We did it. My generation knows better than most what it's like to live under a nuclear threat.

  • I lived the cold war and I was an adult 82nd Airborne soldier before the Berlin wall was allowed to be torn down. My first enlistment was as a primary operator MOS 13C, Tactical Automated Fire Control.. I was trained to plot tactical data on a relatively STONE AGE computer for the purpose of launching strategic Nuclear Chemical and or Biological artillery assaults at a moments notice.

Now you might ask why I offer this not too long drawn out story of my real world cold war life but I submit that it is relevant. I have first hand knowledge of the world and it's place in History from witch these games draw inspiration.

I was bone January 19th 1964 and it you think JFK's Bay off pigs or the Cuban Missile crisis was the height of the cold war then you are sorely misinformed. It was only the beginning. It was what drove common folks to start digging up their own back yards. Deeper even than their house basements. Oh it was a boon for the concrete industry in those days. That was my childhood. I offer it as a reference.

I further note why an Illinois licence plate is important.

  • ED-E's licence plate is most relative to that states roll in the cold war.

Illinois was the real world once upon a time core of the USA's NATO.

That fact makes the Licence plate notable. Don't you agree?

I agree and have a feeling you will meet the person who repaired ED-E with the licence plate in FO4.--Wert1978 (talk) 10:04, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Whenever I use ED-E's crafting functions, the game immediately ends the dialogue. This makes using him to craft time-consuming, so I generally rely on Veronica when I need a workbench. Is this a bug? Katamariguy (talk) 06:32, August 10, 2013 (UTC)

Stuck After Fixing Ed-E (PC)[]

As the subject states, I had an issue where after repairing Ed-E, my character would get stuck and only be able to spin around. After a bit of messing, I found that if you move close enough to target Ed-E and the door to Primm, you can touch fix Ed-E then turn around and open the door, fixing being stuck. Just thought I'd post this here in case anyone else has this issue.

Personality?[]

Was it ever explained why the original ED-E didn't seem to have any personality, yet the clone did? Did its personality module get fried when it was shot? Ssskoopa (talk) 14:09, April 22, 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, and why exactly when you talk to the clone you do that as if it was the original ED-E from Mojave, with bumper plate and all that? And in the end, if you release the clone it "continues" to travel to Navarro despite that wasn't his mission to begin with. Shalliar
