$1 NCR, referred to by the game as simply money, is a miscellaneous item in Fallout 2.

Background

Main article: NCR dollar

The NCR introduced its own money around the turn of the 22nd century and initially it relied on coins minted from gold. By 2241, the economy of NCR dominated the West Coast and coins became universal currency, used by the three regional powers: NCR, Vault City and New Reno. During this time bottle caps had become worthless in these regions.[1]

Characteristics

The New California Republic dollar, minted from gold, is commonly considered the legal tender of New California wasteland. It is accepted as currency by all the major powers of the wasteland, from New California Republic, through New Reno, to Vault City, and by all traders inside the region.

Locations

  • The coins are found everywhere, having replaced bottle caps as the standard currency of the region.
