7.62mm is a type of ammunition in Fallout and Fallout 2.

Background

Main article: 7.62mm

The 7.62x51mm NATO bullet (or 7.62x39mm bullet in Nuka-World) consists of a gilding metal jacket and a lead antimony slug. It is a boat-tailed bullet (rear of bullet is tapered) and weighs 173 grains. The tip of the bullet is not colored. The base of the cartridge is stamped with the year of manufacture and a circle that has vertical and horizontal lines, sectioning it into quarters. Its spread (accuracy standard) for a 10-shot group is no more than 12 inches at 550 meters.

Characteristics

The 7.62mm ammunition is more of a curio and a relic, than a legitimate choice. It's used by a handful of weapons, with two being notable (FN FAL (night sight) and the rare M60), but lacks the excellent bonuses of late-game ammunition like 4.7mm caseless and 2mm EC. As such, it's use is largely contextual: The night sight FN FAL can be a powerful tool if attacking foes during the night.
