|Map Marker||Abernathy Farm|
Abernathy Farm is a location and possible settlement in the Commonwealth.
Located in a strategic position, this large farm is a prime supplier of tatos and melons, run by the Abernathy family: Blake, Connie, and Lucy. They recently lost their eldest daughter, Mary, to a raider attack.
Abernathy Farm is accessible after completing Returning the Favor. The settlement is moderately large and already has two designated plots for crops, but there remains lots of arable land for other crops and welling water. There is a large tract of land to the southeast, perfect of agriculture or settler housing. However, there is little in the way of scrap surrounding the farm, so construction may rely on a supply line.
The region in which this farm lies is not particularly dangerous, so it is rare for this settlement to be raided. However, when it is attacked, attacks come from the north, beyond the melon patch, from the south, beyond the tato field, and directly east of the house.
The farm's tato field is in front of the farmhouse, and the melon patch is behind it. An empty tilled field is on the western side of the house, for even more crops, if desired. Lore-wise, they are probably letting that land go fallow this year. There is a chemistry station outside on the northeast side of the house, a cooking station lies in the northern corner of the house, and the workshop lies on the front patio. The farmhouse is reasonably large, with a main living area, sleeping quarters in the back, and a staircase leading up to the roof.
- Completing the fence around the melon patch is possible, but frustratingly difficult. This is primarily due to the varying elevation, but on top of that, the two halves don't even line up. So, one of the halves needs to be removed first (stored). From a tactical standpoint, completing the northern portion, facing away from the house, and the sides, is especially helpful against ghouls, but it still slows down all attackers. The side facing the house is not important tactically. Therefore leaving an opening there is valid in lieu of placing a gate.
- On occasion, enemies can be seen walking across the field to the north that are not on their way to the farm. If left to themselves, they will often encounter the ghouls at the Wicked Shipping fleet lockup. If one or more roams too close to the farm while trying to maintain distance from the ghouls, and if any settlers happen to be nearby, the settlers will move to engage them. Otherwise, they will move on. It takes a while for all of this to happen. They appear to simply de-spawn if the player fast travels away.
- Trashcan Carla visits this location.
Abernathy Farm appears only in Fallout 4.
