1. Sunday would become "Streaming Sunday". We'd have a regular rotating schedule of games streamed. I'm hoping the First Sunday would be Fallout 1, second Fallout 2, then Tactics, and the fourth and fifth something else (Wasteland and Wasteland 2 perhaps?). I'm looking for volunteers to help fill the schedule.

I'm not so sure about this creature becoming a massively popular regular opponent. I mean, aren't there enough Giant Radscorpions wandering the Wastes? I come across them two and three at a time, and they still prove deadly at level 20. Maybe, and this is me being hopeful, the Albino Radscorpion is a boss creature, like a Giant Ant Queen, since albinism is a rarity amongst creatures. ==Tactics==

Heh you guys run away from a battle with these things, i run into it with my good ol pal the Lincon Repeter Rifle if you know how to use the gun. and if all else fails just shoot it with the good ol Alien Blaster and if that doesnt work, well then heh your on your own.

Backpedaling is of some use, however, the Albino Radscorpion appears to be faster than the player.

That said, their huge health pools must be taken into account when attacking an Albino Radscorpion. Good tactics to use to mitigate damage done are to cripple limbs--either with a [[Dart Gun]] or [[Railway Rifle]] so as to decrease its damage potential. Because of its long melee range, however, care must be taken to ensure that the defender is not charged. Sniping from afar, especially with a weapon with a knock-back effect like a [[Scoped Gauss Rifle]] or the [[Victory Rifle]], is also effective.<small><span class="autosigned">—Preceding {{#if:|[[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[User:{{{1}}}|{{{1}}}]] ([[User talk:{{{1}}}|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/{{{1}}}|contribs]]) |comment was [[wikipedia:Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]]}}. :I would second the comments regarding the use of the Gauss Rifle - very effective in stopping their attacks, and allowing a follower to have uninterrupted access. Cycling your shots to coincide with knock-downs, ensures it stays down and poses no threat. <small>&nbsp;<span style="border: 1px solid black"><span style="background-color:blue; color:white">[[User:Ph03n1x|<span style="background-color: blue; color: white">'''&nbsp;&nbsp;phoenix&nbsp;'''</span>]]&nbsp;&nbsp;</span>[[User talk:Ph03n1x|<span style="background-color: black; color:white">'''&nbsp;&nbsp;txt&nbsp;&nbsp;'''</span>]][[Special:Contributions/Ph03n1x|<span style="background-color:green; color:white;">'''&nbsp;&nbsp;data&nbsp;&nbsp;'''</span>]]</span></small> 14:21, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

Also note that they are often accompanied by SEVERAL radscorpions, including Giant Radscorpions at higher levels. I've run across an Albino Radscorpion with 3 Giant Radscorpions and a regualr Radscorpion south of the Jury Metro Station behemoth's spawn. The albino seems to act like a pack leader so all other radscorpions seem to attack the same target. In cases where you run into a pack, either V.A.T.S. a couple of mini-nukes at them or try hitting the entire pack with the Dart gun in V.A.T.S. The key is to keep your distance. The albinos do major damage and can kill a companion in power armor as fast as a deathclaw would. They fight with a longer melee range than that of a normal Giant Radscorpion and have almost as much health as a Behemoth. Also since they are much faster than you crippling their legs only makes them as fast as you so dont stop backpedeling if that is your tactic.[[User:Chefteen|Chefteen]] 21:42, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Another great tactic is to have 100 Sneak, walk up to it, and shoot it with the Terrible Shotgun. One-hit kill.--[[Special:Contributions/71.176.152.151|71.176.152.151]] 15:20, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

:Somewhat less effective on very hard. A sneak attack critical with better criticals, bloody mess, psycho, entomologist and yao getti meat tops out, on radscorpiaon with no potential for a headshot, at ~1450 damage ''before'' armor.[[User:Tetracycloide|Tetracycloide]] 19:28, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

== White Shells? ==

The only way that an albino scorpion makes any sense is if the normal ones have melanin in their chitin exoskeletons. Well maybe it's a (stupid) mutation that's designed to protect them from sunlight...but then how do the albinos get healed by sunlight?! This makes my head hurt; they could have picked any other change (make them black, or make them spotted like poisonous animals, make them bigger, etc.). Are these even rare?

: The fact that there are giant scorpions to begin with doesn't bother you, but them being healed by sunlight does? [[User:Blutteufel|Blutteufel]] 06:16, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

: I just removed an opinion from the main article regarding the healing in sunlight. Why? Here's an example explanation: Scorpions have ultraviolet-absorbing chemicals (e.g., [http://www.cell.com/chemistry-biology/abstract/S1074-5521%2899%2980085-4 β-carboline]) in their carapaces, so perhaps an albino one doesn't have these. There's a perk that allows healing by our intrepid hero in sunlight--perhaps all scorpions have a similar characteristic and it's able to operate only in albinos, which don't have the UV-blockers. --[[User:Faran Brygo|Faran Brygo]] 19:06, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

I dont think they're that rare, but I think they only show up at lv 25. I encountered two within half an hour of each other after hitting lv 25. I sure don't agree with OP's style, but the point he was trying to make is valid. Yes, the albscorpion has a lot of HP and does pretty much damage, but it can be fought off rather easily using a melee/unarmed weapon using some hitting-and-backing-up tactics. Also, it's slow enough to let you put a lot of bullets in it while backing down, should you prefer to use firearms. An experienced use of either of these tactics can ensure that you survive an albscorpion encounter with minimal to none damage taken. --[[Special:Contributions/78.92.1.70|78.92.1.70]] 01:41, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

The Albinos proved to be kind of anticlimactic for me. The first one I saw had me on the edge of my seat for about forty-five seconds... and then I jumped on top of a rock and was free to pour bullets into it, and only got hit once or twice. If you're encountering these, it's a good idea to go and complete Point Lookout if you've got it- the Superior Defender perk does wonders for fighting these things. Simple tactics and maneuvering are the key to bringing them down. If people are dying, it probably means they're either caught out in the open or aren't making full use of the environment. To be fair, I found Fire Ants difficult, but I don't think I've EVER seen dogmeat take something down. Ever since his first death against the Deathclaw he's been shit for me (couldn't top a raider with a .32 pistol). I found Albino's fairly difficult. Take a bit of punishment, deal some out. They aren't exactly the big daddies of the wasteland but they still make me cringe (and shove Fawkes in the way. 2second blast, smoked radscorpion anyone?) Deathclaws are still top dog in my wasteland. (Except when Fawkes and the alien blaster are at my side ;) )

I fought one at level 30 with Fawkes, Cross, Dogmeat, and Charon, with Charon and Cross in Hellfire and Tesla armor, and I had T-51 b and the metal blaster and took ages to kill. I met one at level 18 or so with no followers and it took a lot less time and ammo (about 4 clips from the perforator) so I reckon they are dependant on your level and possibly if you have followers. Yeah they tend to gand up on you. theres this one place where they seem to spawn a lot (and near the spawn point). And the worst past about ity is when they jumble together and you run further away to get to a safe spot you have the chance of running into more. In that one area I had to fight 3 Albinos and 1 Giant Radscorpion (and that one muggers guy who's gun isn't loaded) within a couple of minuites. == Tactics (from article) ==

The best choice of attack, similar to fighting Giant Radscorpions, would be to use your surroundings to your advantage. If there are any raised platforms nearby (i.e. rocks)that are slightly taller than the Albino Radscorpion, you should be able to take refuge on top of the object which should place you out of the scorpion's reach. Backpedaling through rocky terrain or trees while firing at the Scorpion is a good choice, the terrain will slow them down, allowing you to fire from a safe distance. If that is not an option, use of the [[Dart Gun]] or [[Railway Rifle]] to cripple limbs and slow them down (if only marginally) is recommended. Note that they have the same running speed as you when their legs are crippled, so don't expect to be able to outrun them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<nowiki>*</nowiki>Small gun players; Basic rule of playing Small guns is to carry varieties of guns for different situations. Your conventional choices should include Hunting Rifle(Ol' Painless)/ Lincoln's Repeater/ sniper rifle/ Dart Gun/ Shotguns(Terrible Shotgun or Kneecapper).

If you can, open the battle with a sneak shot using either a sniper rifle or Lincoln's Repeater (long range weapons) depending on how far you can get without getting spotted. Once you are spotted, switch to Dart Gun and deliver a poison. Switch to a shotgun(Point blank weapons), and wait until it gets pretty close. Once you get close enough, start running backward while constantly firing the shotgun. You'll win without ever getting a hit.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miniguns are also a good choice because of the stunning rate of fire.

The Gauss Rifle (from Operation: Anchorage) provides another useful tool to deal with Albinos. Since each critical hit knocks an opponent down, this weapon can flip an Albino (or any other type of Radscorpion) on its back. That can buy you valuable time if you need it, particularly in conjunction with the Dart Gun. However, some of that time is wasted on reloading from a shot, so this can backfire if you do not obtain a critical hit. If you do flip the target, following up with a Plasma Grenade- or even better, a Nuka Grenade- is very useful, as is backing away and dropping mines. A flamer can also cause excellent damage while the scorpion regains its footing. Sustained Gauss fire takes a while, but can keep the beast off its feet for most of a fight- and in the event you fight two of these creatures, popping one means you can buy time to deal with the other one-on-one for a few seconds, making life much easier.

Also, a [[Fat Man]] would be an advisable weapon for disposing of this beast. If you can hit the Radscorpion in the face with a Mini-Nuke, it will make the battle far easier and less suicidal. With [[Entomologist]] and high [[Big Guns]] skill (80-100, depending on difficulty), a single nuke will finish the fight.

[[Entomologist]], a mostly useless perk up until now, is incredibly useful in taking down the white menaces. The 50% damage increase helps out a lot.

[[Nuka Grenade]]s are also relatively effective, although (depending on Explosives skill) it still takes 3 to 5 of them to kill a single Albino Radscorpion. The [[Quantum Chemist]] perk is very useful for acquiring Nuka Grenades for use against the new high-level enemies in the DLC. Although nuka grenades are rare to find by themselves.

Another good strategy to use against this beast is to equip your [[Burnmaster]]. Use the Burnmaster out of VATS take down the Albino Radscorpion within a few seconds. This can also be a effective way to take down the [[Super Mutant Overlord]] and [[Feral Ghoul Reaver]] with the use of a [[Dart Gun]].

People who have access to the [[Chinese Stealth Armor]] (acquired from the Operation: Anchorage DLC) and have 100 [[Sneak]] skill will have no trouble dispatching the beast even on Very Hard (as is the case with most creatures). Remain in stealth and use either the [[Shishkebab]] if you have the [[Pyromaniac]] perk or [[Jingwei's Shocksword]] if you don't have that perk. The sneak attack damage you make is enough to make short work of this creature without putting yourself at too great a danger as long as you always retreat a good distance from the Radscorpion after you've hit it, just in case it runs into you and discovers your location.

Another sound tactic for fans of unarmed combat is to use unequipped strikes to paralyze the critter, then equip a [[Deathclaw Gauntlet]] or [[Jack (weapon)|Jack]] and finish it off. Just be sure to first do the same to any less powerful [[Radscorpion]] or [[Giant Radscorpion]] underlings! ('''Hints:''' By all means, DO NOT let the Albino attack you, position yourself with the paralyzed underling between you and it, and remember to enter V.A.T.S. for the last blow, assuming you have the [[Grim Reaper's Sprint]] perk, so you can pick up enough AP to paralyze the Albino on the killing blow to the underling!)

[[Dogmeat (Fallout 3)|Dogmeat]] is exceptional at harrying the Albino Radscorpion and disrupting its attacks, allowing a player to take their time in hitting critical areas with guns or melee weapons. The radscorpion seems to be caught completely off guard by the dog's aggressive attacks and will fend off bites with its claws while rarely putting its stinger into action.

But whatever tactic you choose, don't forget about the [[Fallout_3_drugs_and_edibles |drugs!]] As soon as you see it, immediately pop a [[Med-X]] and a [[Psycho]], then finish it off with the most powerful weapon you have. The [[Alien Blaster]], powered by Psycho and Entomologist, will make very short work of it.

One good tactic is when you see one pop a [[Jet]] and then go into [[VATS]] and aim for the stinger and hopefully cripple the stinger which takes out their devastating poison attack.

:Good tactics. Dogmeat however (even with his Broken Steel stats) usually doesn't last that long against an Albino, I've had him die in each encounter I've had with them. He is an excellent distraction though, and if you're quick to kill and prepared to Stimpak him at any time, he can even survive. I generally tend to open with a shot from Lincoln's Repeater from a distance, then wait until it gets closer and throw a Nuka Grenade at it which usually cripples it's legs or a claw and almost always the stinger, at which point I switch to the Terrible Shotgun and back pedal while firing at it. If, however I don't see it coming, I normally just whip out the shotgun and back pedal. The Dart Gun is practically useless on it, so you may want to use the Railway Rifle and aim for the legs. For Big Guns monkeys, use either the Burnmaster or Vengeance, or the regular variants if you haven't got those. Explosives users is may want to first litter a straight line of mines of any variety (Bottlecap works best) in Sneak mode until you get the Caution warning, at which point, throw a grenade to get its attention and run back along your line of mines as fast your little legs can carry you. Once you reach the end, run further and turn around. It should run straight along the line, taking massive damage. Any mines that may be left you can just pick up. If it gets the jump on you, adjust accordingly. [[User:Vault01|Vault01]] 20:09, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand why people keep saying that Albinos are only in the Broken Steel add-on. Everywhere i look, it says there limited to that only, but way back before any add-on was released I fought about two of these Albino Radscorpions. Also, I've never played the Broken Steel or any other add-on. Is this some kind of glitch or just a really messed up game?

lies

But aren't the Albino Radscorpions put into the game when you download Broken Steel? If that's the case it's impossible to encounter one without getting the add-on?

Correct me if I'm wrong. --[[User:Editt|Editt]] 08:16, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

No, them Armoured Aliens with the wavy things around them are the toughest because i was playing on Very hard and one of them came up and i was like FUCK it took me 10 minutes to kill it even then i only had 10 bars of health left i had the [[Alien Blaster]] too

i hate them to, one time i had to take on 3 of them + a regular giant one. thank goodness 4 the tesla cannon ;) --[[User:Masqueradebunny14|Masqueradebunny14]] 05:43, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Abominations are easy compared to Albino Rad. One sneak headshot (or maybe two.) compared to 7 or 8? Yeah I'll go with Albino-1 Abomination-0[[User:.VelvetKevorkian.|.VelvetKevorkian.]] 14:01, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

I haven't played a single addon yet (waiting for the PS3 GOTY edition) but these buggers seem real bad... Does this decrease the chance of trade caravans surviving long into the game too much ? --[[User:Penumbra|Penumbra]] 22:29, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

:I don't think I've ever lost a trade caravan, either before or after installing Broken Steel. To my knowledge, as long as they are not within the "active area" (a certain radius around the player; I believe it is slightly greater than a PE10 awareness radius), trade caravans either don't experience random encounters or don't take damage from them. If you're sleeping or waiting near them, and a random encounter kills them, you can always go back to the autosave, so the only real risk occurs if you happen to travel near one of the caravans but not close enough to notice and/or protect them from a random encounter that spawns near them. -[[User:ShadowRanger|ShadowRanger]] 23:36, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

::The worst I've had happen was [[Lucky Harith]] and [[Crow]] losing their Pack Brahmin and bodyguards. I am never close to them when they are traveling, so I don't know how this happened. [[User:ArmeniusLOD|ArmeniusLOD]] 21:09, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

:I've had to reload saves a lot, and have lost caravans several times, via mutant behemeth, deathclaw, etc. I explore a lot, so I end up coming across them walking along, and of course there's always some deathclaw ready to eat them alive - anon

:::The best is to set them all essential (Trader, Guard and Brahmin). You might not notice that they were killed, so you might play on and much later realize that they are missing, the risk ist just too high. Or for example I had Doc Hoff involved in some serious fighting where I just would have been unable to help in time to save him (luckily AFTER I set him essential): His caravan got drawn into Paradise Falls and messed with Raiders, then afterwards draw another Behemoth (not the caged one) from somewhere, and finally appeared on the metal walkway during the Liberty Prime attack on the Jefferson Memorial between Enclave and BoS (the most intense firefight of the whole game!), I constantly got messages like "Doc Hoff/Pack Brahmin/Caravan Guard is unconscious". I really don't know what Bethesda thought by allowing the traders in such danger without making them unkillable. And in order not to be too off-topic, also one Albino Radscorpion would usually mean the end of any trader caravan.--[[Special:Contributions/87.158.239.49|87.158.239.49]] 08:10, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

:::

:::Your followers like Charon, Butch, Clover or Jericho are extremely at risk from these beasts. I gave Charon Enclave Hellfire Armor and a Gatling Laser and he STILL got killed in about five attacks, so, if i were u, i would take the Vengence or a Fat Man. Alien Weapons Work pretty well too.[[User:Atomic Sparkz|Atomic Sparkz]] 15:32, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

== Surviving Albino Radscorpions ==

Im a ps3 owner also and im basicly building my guy to be able to survive these things. What are some perks and skills i should increase? I already got the ecomolagist or what ever its called perk.--[[User:Radraider|Radraider]] 21:50, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

:Entomologist helps. So does increasing your active weapons skill. Toughness and Cyborg boost your damage resistance, which is critical. A high Perception is useful to become aware of enemies (of any sort) earlier, and a good Sneak with the Stealth Running perk makes it much easier to avoid them (particularly if you have the Chinese Stealth Suit from Operation:Anchorage, or if you don't mind wasting a StealthBoy). If you want to kill them, attacking while still in Hidden status gives you a free opening critical hit. Given that even level 30 is trivial to reach if you have the DLC and explore thoroughly, you don't need to fight these guys for additional XP, and they give pitiful loot, so you're usually better off sneaking around them rather than dealing with the hassle of fighting them. -[[User:ShadowRanger|ShadowRanger]] 22:05, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

:[[Entomologist]] and [[Paralyzing Palm]]. The Palm is probably the most useful perk against these new, tougher enemies.

== Not Looking Forward To It ==

I haven't gotten my hands on any of the DLCs but even now I cringe fighting Albinos. Giants are one problem that can be easily solved but one with at least triple health and can deal triple digit damage doesn't sound like a fun enemy to fight. I thought Deathclaws were bad but you take get headshots on them. These guys however seem like they take the cake for biggest pain. I may even consider taking Animal Friend or Entomologist just to help stop these monsters. That or my trusty Vengance or A3-21's are going to get a workout.

Also what's up with the XP cap? 50 measly points for them along with Overlords, Behemoths and Reavers. What gives Bethesda? Maybe you could give 50 for bagging a Deathclaw but 50 for something that has over twice to four times the health? That's just mean.--[[User:KnightNapier|KnightNapier]] 21:01, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

:[[Paralyzing Palm]] is your best friend against these. You get enough XP throughout the game to max your level quickly, but I do agree that these toughest enemies should give at least 75 XP on Normal difficulty. [[User:ArmeniusLOD|ArmeniusLOD]] 21:06, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

:Thanks for the advice.--[[User:KnightNapier|KnightNapier]] 21:10, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

== Contradiction? ==

This article mentions in the Characteristics section that:

''Additionally, like all Radscorpions, Albino Radscorpions lack a "weak point" that can be targeted for extra damage, in contrast to the Super Mutant Behemoth or Super Mutant Overlord, who can at least be headshot for double damage.''

However, it also says this in the Tactics section:

''Since they are melee oriented, it is probably best to have a medium to long ranged weapon, like the Repeater Rifle or the Sniper Rifle, and get a sneak attack on it if possible. Using V.A.T.S. to target the stinger, for it's the most vulnerable part of the scorpion.''

Which is it? Does the Scorpion have no weak point that can be hit for extra damage, or is the stinger a weaker part of it? [[Special:Contributions/24.2.117.253|24.2.117.253]] 15:43, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

:It seems like they take a small degree more damage when you aim for the stinger, but not enough to make a huge difference. It may be the most vulnerable in the sense of how much limb HP it has, or how easy a target it makes. I'm not really sure; all I know is that it works, for some reason. [[User:Marked318|Marked318]] 22:40, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

::I think they mean that supposedly if the stinger is crippled, they can no longer sting you which reduces their capacity to deal damage a great deal. I've tried that though, and they can still sting. (And I swore I read that claim on one of the radscorpion pages!) I'd love to know what the hell good crippling a limb is if they can still use it. Maybe it's a significantly weaker point for those with the Ent. perk? :/ ~'''[[User:Iridia|<span style="color:#663366">Iridia</span>]]''' <font face="Arial"><small>[[User Talk:Iridia|<span style="color: #990066;">talk</span>]]<span style="color: #990066;"> | [[Special:Contributions/Iridia|contrib]]</span></small></font> 13:56, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

::In my experience if you cripple the stinger it will still attack you, albiet with less range and frequency. It does no extra damage to them so far as I can tell...[[User:Jordanish|Jordanish]] 09:32, February 23, 2010 (UTC)

: It's probably referring to the fact that there is always a very high chance of a VATS hit if you target the stinger, not that it's a weak point. As long as there's a clear line of sight, the chance to hit the stinger is always 95% for me. [[Special:Contributions/97.73.64.154|97.73.64.154]] 03:29, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

== Albino Radscorpions are amazing! ==

Today, having played fallout 3 for over 215 hours, decided to play my level 30 file. It has the best guns and everything with it. It is amazing. I remember reading something in the discussion boards about something near MdPl-21 powerstation or something of that nature. I decided to go with my most well equipped character and then headed off. As soon as I teleported to the tower which is just west of the powerstation, I noticed many red ticks on my compass. I was just sure they were raiders and I turned around. It ended up being a Deathclaw, Giant Radscorpion, 2 Yao Guai, and an Albino Rad Scorpion. I just watched them all go at it. First the deathclaw got bombarded by the two yao guai, but not after obliterating the giant radscorpion. Then the two Yao Guai started to double team the albino radscorpion. The albino just crapped on them both and had half health left. I then proceeded to take my alien rifle and one hit critical kill, Liquified !

== Albino Radscorpion vs Deathclaw ==

I was running away from an Albino Radscorpion near the dunwhich building then a deathclaw started fighting the Albino. The Albino won....the mighty Deathclaw is no longer the champion of the wastes...this is a dark day.

== What's going on here? ==

So I was running around Duniwich after i went in to get the melee bobblehead (ghoul mask recommended...no, NEEDED) and i got this message that Charon friggin "has died". Fawkes came up running to me and I shot once with my trusty BB gun because i was pissed that he wasn't looking out for Charon. And to show him you know...who's boss. I checked his health with V.A.T.S. and his health was cut in half! I scanned the area and I saw this little bastard crawling toward me. Freaked the living turd out my butthole. The Gauss Rifle is VERY helpful in dispatching these mothers. I recommend Finesse and Better Criticals as these are just plain bad ass.[[User:DiarrheaDELUXE|DiarrheaDELUXE]] 22:14, June 30, 2010 (UTC)DiarrheaDELUXE

== Motherhip Zeta ==

I checked the GECK - there's no creature record in Zeta.esm for the Albino Radscorpion; therefore any such creatures appearing in ''Mothership Zeta'' are put there because of a leveled list modified by Broken Steel. Forums: Index > Wiki discussion > Enhancing Twitch

Hi Folks,

We have a Twitch channel, but since the Wasteland 2 Test streams, not much going on with it. I'm looking for volunteers to help fill it.

At the moment I'm hoping to do the following:

2. I'm hoping to get some Enclave-style radio streaming in the middle periods. I hope to get a test up this week.

Any other ideas on what we can show? Agent c (talk) 13:07, March 24, 2014 (UTC)
