Doctor Bailey was an administrator in Vault 22. He died as a result of the B. mordicana contagion within the Vault and became reanimated as a spore carrier, as which he can still be found in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

Dr. Bailey was an administrator on the food production floor of Vault 22. He possessed a keycard controlling access to the caves underneath the Vault.[1] After Assistant Mathers disappeared in the caves, and a search team looking for Mathers came back with one member wounded and another one missing, Bailey ordered the caves to be sealed off.[2][3]

Shortly thereafter, Dr. Harrison Peters, a scientist who had been part of the search team, was taken ill with what appeared to be pneumonia (but was actually an infection by B. mordicana fungal spores, unknown to the Vault at the time).[4] One week after he reported sick, a large group of fourteen others, including Dr. Bailey's wife and daughter, were also taken sick with the same symptoms.[5] After this, Dr. Bailey left to take care of his family in their quarters in the common areas full time, leaving a subordinate in charge of food production.[6]

All three members of the Bailey family ultimately succumbed to the illness and died in their quarters, becoming spore carriers.[7]

Note[]

It is not specified which of the two sick Baileys, Marsha and Elizabeth, was Dr. Bailey's wife and which was his daughter.

Appearances[]

Doctor Bailey appears only in Fallout: New Vegas, as a spore carrier.
