Contents
Background
An essential component of baseball, the great American sport of the pre-War times, especially in Boston, each bat is a smooth club made from wood or metal, used to hit the ball thrown by the pitcher. Although intended as a sporting tool, the ruggedness and simplicity of the bat has made it an excellent melee weapon, before and especially after the Great War. A variety of modifications have been developed over the years, including special cores from cork, aftermarket maple bodies, and of course, nails, blades, and chains that can be attached to it to make it a lot more efficient at breaking bones and mangling flesh.[1]
