The bottlecap mine is a placed explosive in Fallout 4.

Background[]

The bottlecap mine is extremely powerful, but its construction requires a Vault-Tec lunchbox along with more common components. It can be found armed or disarmed.

Characteristics[]

A Vault-Tec lunchbox, crafted together with adhesive, fertilizer, oil and steel into an explosive device.

  • One in Beacon Hill apartments.
  • One can be found on the roof of the hardware store at Big John's Salvage.
  • One can be found in Boston mayoral shelter near the elevator on the bottom level, at the end of a long pipe tunnel.
  • One in Boston Public Library, in the small Master-locked storage room off the computer room in the northwest corner of the building.
  • One can be found in the classroom of the lowest level at the C.I.T. ruins.
  • Another can be found in the College Square station, bottom level, on the bottom of a shelf at the end of the northwest hallway near the subway tracks.
  • Compound - To the right of the chemistry station in Dr. Roslyn's chamber in the southwest.
  • Another can be found in the Corvega assembly plant, in the north, in the raider sleeping quarters.
  • One in the drug den, top floor next to a steamer trunk.
  • One can be found in the cabin at the top of the quarry next to the turret control terminal at Dunwich Borers' west side.
  • Fens Street sewer - In the super mutant diner outpost, in a light blue container.
  • Fallon's department store - On the third floor south of the heptagon-shaped room, in a small room.
  • One can be found next to the terminal in the Gorski cabin root cellar.
  • Hangman's Alley - In a bathtub with a skeleton, just outside the tunnel.
  • Another can be found next to the Nuka-Cola machine and cigarette machine on the ground at Jalbert Brothers Disposal.
  • Another one can be found near the workshop at Jamaica Plain.
  • Jalbert Brothers Disposal - Close to the barn, next to a Nuka-Cola machine.
  • Hardware Town - Behind a locked door that can be opened with the Hardware Town storage key.
  • Two in Kendall Hospital, one in the hallway with the door unlock terminal. This is after exiting the first main room. The mine is on the floor on the left side opposite and just past the terminal. The second is in the big chamber area. As one crosses the bridge on the fourth level the mine will be on a shelf on the other side of the room.
  • In an orange/blue trailer on the south side of Lake Quannapowitt.
  • One is sitting on a table in a trailer near the south entrance of Mahkra Fishpacking.
  • One is found at the end of the Malden Center in the room where the synths and raiders are fighting, in the west. Area with Helter Skelter.
  • Mass Pike Interchange - On the overpass, in a shack.
  • Two on the overpass to the east of Mass Pike Tunnel east.
  • Two in Massachusetts State House, near an armor workbench in the south area, second floor.
  • One can be found at the exterior of Poseidon reservoir up the open pipe with the railsign.
  • Another can be found at Revere Beach station, on the second floor of the red brick building northwest of the station entrance.
  • One near the Rook family house, top floor of a restaurant to the south.
  • One north of the South Boston military checkpoint, in a truck with a blue trailer, with a Master locked door.
  • The Switchboard - In the security room in the southeast, next to the vault.
  • Two in Vault 95, one in the detox facility (east) on the desk, and the other is in the northeastern room of the living quarters on the desk with the private terminal.
  • There is one in the basement of the Walden Pond gift shop, near Walden's position in the east.
  • Northwest of West Everett Estates, near the water. The mine is located at a broken fence door.
  • Nuka-World (add-on) Northwest of The Parlor, in a buried cupboard.

The bottlecap mine does not use any bottlecaps for construction (unlike in previous games featuring the mine), despite dropping them upon detonation. Like many crafted explosives in Fallout 4, the bottlecap mine utilizes fertilizer and oil in its construction.
