The Ark & Dove Cathedral is a location in the fourth Fallout 3 add-on, Point Lookout. It is a small settlement inhabited by Point Lookout tribals.
General information
Unlike in Fallout 3, the Perk Rate in Fallout: New Vegas is one perk every two levels. To counter how easy it was to max out the player's skills in Fallout 3, most of the skill-boosting perks have been removed or replaced. There are 88 regular perks, 8 companion perks, 16 challenge perks, and an unknown amount of special perks. Only regular perks may be selected during level up. Other types of perks are granted through completing various tasks, and do not count against the limit of regular perks. You can get up to a total of 25 non-challenge perks with all 4 DLCs installed.

  +
Background
Companion perks, as their name suggests, are granted by the player's companions. For example, Enhanced Sensors is only in effect while the Courier is accompanied by ED-E. The perk remains in effect so long as the companion is currently following the player. Unless the companion is dismissed, the perk will remain in effect regardless of the distance between the player and their companions. Companions told to wait are still counted as active companions.

  +
This massive cathedral is named after the first two settler ships to make landfall on Point Lookout in colonial times.

  +
Layout
Challenge perks are unlocked by fulfilling certain requirements. Challenge tasks can be accessed from the Pip-Boy menu; on the 'Misc.' page, accessible from the 'Data' section. Most of the perks obtained this way are related to the skill or task that was completed to earn it. For example, Set Lasers for Fun increases the odds of scoring Critical Hits with energy-based energy weapons; to earn the perk, a player must do 16,000 damage with one handed energy weapons over the course of their game. Additionally, some challenge perks have multiple ranks or more than one version, such as Caza-Death Dealer, which 'level up' as the player continues adding to its requisite challenge task.

  +
Exterior
  +
It's an old church with a brick wall surrounding it with a gate at the entrance. Outside there are some refined punga fruit and wild punga fruit with Jimson, Croatoa, and other tribals guarding the front. To the northwest is a well that leads to the Sea Cave as well as the Ark & Dove Resting Grounds.

  +
Interior
Special perks are granted from other sources, usually through actions in the game world. Completing quests and performing certain actions unlock them. For example, the effects of surgical implants are counted as special perks, which are unlocked once the implant is purchased.

  +
Inside there are special breeding pots to grow refined punga fruit. At the back of the church are Woodrose and Nadine. Other tribals wander around inside as well.

* Occasionally the tribals will turn hostile towards you. When you attack them the whole Cathedral will turn hostile. Waiting 72–73 hours will take it until the tribals are calmed down and you can safely come back.

  +
* Marcella wanted to search the Cathedral for artifacts, and contemplated joining the tribals solely for this purpose, but decided not to.
| Your eyes adapt quickly to low-light conditions.

  +
* Behind the Cathedral there is a pile of gore and a pot that has no value and is simply called "Pot".

The Ark & Dove Cathedral is a location in the fourth Fallout 3 add-on, Point Lookout. It is a small settlement inhabited by Point Lookout tribals.

Background

This massive cathedral is named after the first two settler ships to make landfall on Point Lookout in colonial times.

Layout

Exterior

It's an old church with a brick wall surrounding it with a gate at the entrance. Outside there are some refined punga fruit and wild punga fruit with Jimson, Croatoa, and other tribals guarding the front. To the northwest is a well that leads to the Sea Cave as well as the Ark & Dove Resting Grounds.

Interior

Inside there are special breeding pots to grow refined punga fruit. At the back of the church are Woodrose and Nadine. Other tribals wander around inside as well.

Notes

 • If the front gate is left open, feral ghouls, smugglers or swampfolk may attack and kill the tribals.
 • There appears to be only one intercom despite Jimson talking to you through one before you can enter. It is unknown if the other is at a different location.
 • Behind the Cathedral, you can find flesh chunks. They are not brains, but probably remains from the surgery.
 • Occasionally the tribals will turn hostile towards you. When you attack them the whole Cathedral will turn hostile. Waiting 72–73 hours will take it until the tribals are calmed down and you can safely come back.
 • Marcella wanted to search the Cathedral for artifacts, and contemplated joining the tribals solely for this purpose, but decided not to.
 • Behind the Cathedral there is a pile of gore and a pot that has no value and is simply called "Pot".

Appearances

The Ark & Dove Cathedral appears in the Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout.

Behind the scenes

Although there is no actual cathedral near Point Lookout called "Ark & Dove", there is a real Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church further north in Odenton, MD.
