Addition to MediaWiki:Sidebar

Clarification

I understand your posting of time and date listings of my previous bans.

Please know I get you are just do'n your job. So of course, no heart burn here.

Yet, mere times and dates fail to tell the whole story. As I wrote at Jspoels post, there are circumstances that might might help define my record.

Some of those bans were over turned due to what we might fairly call some moderators hasty actions before all evidence was shown. I do not mean to put undue blame on the chat mods. Some times folks might come into the middle of a conversation and draw a conclusion based on only a few lines. Again, I stress that I do not appoint blame on them. I trust they meant only to serve the sites common good.

As I said, some even later stated the very human fact that we are all fallible and admitted they over reacted.

I am not trying to start a pissing contest. I had even tried to let the whole topic go but it is clear to some that the ban was questionable and the punishment exceeds the any definition of the perceived crime.

I was logged off when my ban was enacted, I had already walked away of my own accord in order to defuse what I recognized as escalating hostilities. Agent C clearly stated that he had over reacted and that ban was lifted. Victor came in "After the fact" and his judgement was clearly prejudicial.

Victor said, according to SigmaDelta54 s references "Quote" I hate that man, I hate his attitude, and I hate seeing him in here. " End Quote"

SigmaDelta54 went on to point out Victors obvious dislike of me personally with the following "Quote" which definitely helps to support the fact that this was a good decision that had no emotional backing. It is clear that you resent SaintPain, enough so that you are willing to ban him " End Quote

{I can only assume based on the context that SigmaDelta54 had a typo and meant to say "this was"NOT" a good decision."

I have held my tongue for nearly a month but as SigmaDelta54 and Jspoels have said, the 3,000 year ban was excessive. I have been punished and I have made a pledge to be more mindful of when, where, and what to say in the future.

I have spent an hour posting this, so you might have already voted. but it is clear "There is no same in changing your vote." I can only hope TwoBearsHigh-Fiving might change is mind again.

You know that so called warning about " In the ghetto " did not come from a mod. That was all Denis517 trying to play as a mod.

Given these facts to illuminate all the circumstances I hope you can see fit to vote me back onto chat.

Please pardon that I will re post most of this to TwoBearsHigh-Fiving in the vain hopes that he may re~reconsider his vote.

NUN/Saintpain

Hey Gunny,

Wondering if I could ask you to act as honest broker on something... As I was leaving a message for X the other day I noticed some interest from Saint Pain in joining the NUN a mentor. He has reservations about asking me (which I completely understand - I guess I have come across as a bit of a zealous prosecutor), I was wondering if I could ask you to consider his situation for mentor-ship.

If I put my unbiased head on, I have two concerns. one being he can't be in chat to help people there (which can be easily overcome with an off site chatroom or IM tool); the other being his unique communication style might be hard for mentees to understand. On the other hand, a big part of the NUN for me at least was allowing mentors to grow from mentoring, and it might help teach clearer communication styles.

NUN

I thank you and Agent C for allowing the possibility of my application to the New User Network. Energy X suggested it and of course I am always willing to aid anyone with questions about the fallout games be they new or old users.

Fallout's universe is like a new religion to me. I love it more than any other game series I have ever played.

Yet I always seem cursed with bad timing. This is going to be a busy holiday season, I got friends and family booth having weddings this month and more "yet to be determined" wedding dates that are due to be announced any day.

I don't know if they think the world will really end this Dec. 21st and they are just afraid to die alone but there has been a recent surge in my wedding invites of late.

Don't they know Halloween is a HIGH holy day to me? I got home made zombie skin and fake blood to make. Maybe they just want to test what I love more, Halloween Monster Mash parties or watching my relatives do another chicken dance..

What ever the cause I got allot going on right now. I could sign in on the NUN list but I'd have to put much thought into the question of "expertise"..

I am not sure the timing is right now, maybe after the new year. Mostly I am just looking forward to Halloween right now.

Gunny, I'd like to address to you a concern that has become almost regular on the forum. For a long time we've tolerated Tagaziel and his anti-Fallout 3 ways. Which in my opinion, are very well thought out and I agree with much of his opinions. What I don't agree with however, is this blatant bullying. We can not turn people away by bashing a game that many have worked so hard to standardize on this site. I put a picture of an example that recently angered me, this is inappropriate, especially for someone with sysop rights. This really reflects negatively upon us.-- 22:19, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

To second what TwoBears is suggesting, Tag has long made me out to be some kind of Nazi and/or neo-Nazi. I'm sick and tired of it because this has lingered on since I first made my debut more or less on Nukapedia with my first blog. I debate him near religiously, and he's even more infuriating because he cleverly dodges my arguments in every single one of them and also refuses to reach a consensus which is a requirement for any and all debates, instead preferring to throw up his education level which somehow has merit outside of his own mind.

Sorry if I seem to be ranting, but his blatant arrogance is truly dismaying for someone trying to enjoy their time here. His type of Fallout 'purist' attitude draws away new members in my honest opinion.-- 23:20, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

I'll reply to all three points zusammen-together.

What TwoBears basically wants is shutting me up through administrative action, because he apparently doesn't like me contesting Fallout 3 fanboys. I am apparently not permitted to share my thoughts on Fallout 3's definite lack of quality in terms of actual role-playing, design and choices & consequences, because "many have worked so hard to standardize [it] on this site." The comment that "angers" TwoBears is a simple conclusion born out of comparing both games side by side. It doesn't state that Fallout 3 players are stupid, but that Fallout: New Vegas requires a certain level of intelligence to appreciate (tell me that's untrue). To reach the former conclusion, you need to have a lot of bad will when interpreting it.
Agent C's statement is blatant libel. I never, not once, hid behind my administrative powers or used them as a shield. If anyone tries to bend the rules to his personal gain, it is the accusing party, whom I've seen, more than once, attempting to use his own, personal interpretation of rules to shut me up.
Eden2012's is an interesting case. I enjoy arguing with an Enclave hardliner, but apparently I'm a bad person for pointing out that he is supporting a fascist paramilitary organization that nearly committed premeditated global genocide, using a baseless racial doctrine as justification. No consensus can be reached, you might as well be arguing that e.g. the Khmer Rouge were justified in their actions. Furthermore, I only referred to my education when the discussion strayed into political theory/law and it became apparent that I'm discussing with a hostile layman.

In summary, although I may come across as a bastard, I don't see the rules forbidding discussion, as heated as it can be, or requiring everyone to refrain from criticizing Fallout 3, because it's a popular game. Last I read, Nukapedia is an open forum for discussion, not a dedicated Fallout 3 clubhouse. _Tagaziel ^(call!) 07:43, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

I'd like to see any of the shit Tag pulls done by any non-admin/non-moderator/non-'leader', but then I realize I wouldn't. Ever. If a new member came with the proverbial Tag chip on his/her shoulder, they're gone. We see any member with said chip on his/her shoulder? They're gone. There were plenty of people with a much bigger chip on their shoulder that were never banned, because they never breached the rules. Sure, they argued bitterly and savagely, often with me, but neither I nor other admins felt the inclination to ban them.

For example, Aryeonos is an user I've clashed with several times and we both were pretty damn aggressive, but he was not banned, not ever. I'm not even going to mention Saint Pain.

Furthermore, I request that you present evidence of users banned because of an alleged "chip on their shoulder," instead of pure rhetorics. The Vault never had a policy of banning active users with an aggressive method of discussion and I don't recall Nukapedia changing that policy.

I cannot sit silent whilst Tag chooses to mischaracterise the truth. In a rather heated debate on circumcision/mutilation Tag chose to belittle my intelligence twice. On the first, as per guidelines I warned him that was no acceptable. On the second, as again per guidelines I kicked him. I know you have seen logs of him exhibiting similar behaviour in the past and have agreed that this was against rule 1. Rather than take this like a man, or acknowledge that maybe he did go too far, Tag instead resorted to power abuse and kicked me. I had not insulted him at all in the process (tag did comment that he would have to concut a reason, perhaps personal insults, nor had breached any other rules. Rather than try and silence him, I encouraged him in continuing the debate on topic afterwards going as far as to state that one can criticise arguments all they like, but the person cannot be criticised. Furthermore tag is guilty of the same behaviour he accuses me of - demanding I not go into certain subjects (law). Lastly I think his own response here highlights one of the core reasons why he is not fit to hold the rank of administrator: he refuses to treat his fellow editors with any respect. I have been criticizing Agent C's argument and his method of arguing, which was exactly how children in the kindergarten argue: by attempting to reduce a complex problem to a very simplistic false dichotomy, demanding that I choose one or the other. When I called him out on this, he abused the rules as a shield to shut me up and then kicked me.

Furthermore, there is no policy or guideline stating that users are immune to critique. Me criticizing C's reasoning was well in line with the regulations outlined in the user conduct guideline, particularly since I did not attack him personally, but his reasoning. As such, C's conduct constitutes abuse of moderator privileges for personal gain, i.e. to retaliate for alleged personal insults. I also believe he is employing double standards. Did he reprimand Gothic Neko at all, when the user in question claimed that I was a supporter of infant mutilation by parents?

Regardless, his argument fits the definition of character assassination to the letter. I hate that it's clogging up your talk page, but I can't let myself be assassinated, do I? ;)

As I think you suspect, by your insistence of evidence, a log is sadly in obtainable. However had I actually wanted to silence you, I would not have used rule 1. Instead I would have used the "new" rule 9. Under this rule more mods would have had to be for continuation than against, with ties resolved towards ceasing conversation. With Neko out of chat at that time, the conversation under that rule would have to be closed. As it was I was enjoying the debate, when insults were left out of it. I will respond here, rather than make multiple messages to all those who have posted. As I have stated, the chat log from the day in question (the incident both Agent c and Tagaziel mention) did not save properly. I lost all of the chat comments earlier than about 5PM EDT, and so any comments by either party are lost. There is nothing to review unless someone has screenshots or a log themselves. I have already addressed with a few points Tagaziel that I felt needed to be addressed, and will continue to monitor those issues, just as I will take all comments made by everyone here under consideration.

I would also like to give guidance to everyone: If you see or are the subject of any breaches of Wikia TOU, Nukapedia's site policies or our chat policies, take a screenshot, capture a log, copy the edit or comment and place them with a description of the incident on my talk page. General complaints without any kind of evidence are obviously impossible to act on. Do not engage in any kind of confrontation with another user, simply capture the breach of rules and inform me. This applies to everyone. I will act on evidence of clear wrongdoing, first with a warning and then progressive discipline. As it stands, this matter is not closed, and I will monitor events for any user's breach of policies. The Gunny

I am not attempting to shut up your ways, I believe if you would have read my message in its entirety you would find that I do enjoy your arguments because they are well thought out. Unfortunately, it seems to be an issue with that wiki specifically. I've done the exact thing on the wiki that I created, and everything is working perfectly. Doesn't matter anymore. Question

Hi, I was removing speculation on all of the mentioned only characters of Vault 22. The speculations was "It is highly likely they are spore carriers". I removed it as i thought it was speculation. However, Jspoel re added that information as he thinks that its "Not to me". Isn't that a breach of the rules? Hi Gunny. While I have no problem with you ensuring that all his questions are answered, I must point out that I disagree with the "food chain" idea. The system of user rights is not a hierarchy nor a rank system. It is merely more user rights than others, not authority. As performer of the ban originally I sought to respond to the best of my ability, and while I regretfully did not address all his queries (and I thank you for doing so) I do not believe that all matters like this need a bureaucrat's input simply for the sake of it. Odd Page

Something Is Not Right

Hey Gunny, i was reading the Irr. Banana Yucca page (LINK: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Irr._banana_yucca) and it states it does not alleviate dehydration or hunger. What seems wrong is, that there is an entire table of getting rid or hunger and thirst. Something is wrong. How can there be a table if it doesn't do anything but irradiate the PC. Hi,Gunny! I made "wrapper" for {{Collapsible content}}, specifically configured to be used in Notable loot and Notable quotes. It automatically tracks items in the list and distributes them between shown/collapsed sections. Please take a look at User:Theodorico/sandbox07, and let me know what are you thinking about it. Botwork on quotes

Hi, Gunny! Bot is ready, in fact it was ready a couple of days ago... but well, i'm little bit stuck. Thing is, that i have two plans:

Plan A: Bot puts rotating content on every epigraph (top-page quote) PERIOD
Plan B: Bot puts rotating content only if there are notable quotes already on the page.

They both aren't perfect and will require some improvements in the future, and i really can't prefer one over another. But at this moment, i feel, it's time to stop thinking and start digging. :) So, please give me a hand and pick one for me?! Ammo comparison template

Dwellersims Patroller Request

Hello Gunny, Could i please apply for a Patroller position. Some of the reasons why i think i qualify are stated below. I have recently graduated from the New User Network (NUN), i have a very high editing standard, i edit daily, i have been active (minus a few missed days due to work) for a couple of months. I have knowledge of all the special Nukapedia features and am always tinkering with new things. I have 657 article edits and special editing badges for certain fields like Van Buren. I currently patrol without my abilities and always revert and tag vandals for you to smoosh. Lately however, an increasing amount of vandals are pouring in. When it is night time where i live, there is no body around to zap and undo the edits. So when a few vandals come along it takes a long time to revert it all. The rollback would be a huge help to me and i would only use it in times when there is a vandal scourge. If i am not granted, thank you anyway for your time.

Crafting id done, at least i can't find any more crafting tables to convert.
Notable loot is done.
Quotes - progress is slow but steady. I REALLY hope to complete this in a few hours. But we'll going to need a blitz project to clean up some debris left by the bot - remove excessive and/or meaningless quotes, add skipped quotes and so on. I'll make a project progress table, after the bot ~~run~~ ~~walk~~ crawl is over.

Hi! Ok, i'm done with deploying rotating content... almost done. Thing is that i have a burning desire to convert all text based quotes in "Notable quotes" section into templates similar to {{Quotation}}. If you excuse me, i'd skip reasoning for doing so, as we both know what kind of benefits we could get from templates. Here's my draft for light version of Quotatation: User:Theodorico/sandbox07. Ignore inline styling, i'll rewrite it into CSS, if this idea gets a go. Please, let me know what are you thinking about this idea.

In Regards to the Policy on not posting Behind the Scenes information on Extreme Similarities

Skire and myself, have recently come to a rather concerning realization about Behind The Scenes information in regards to real world Items that resemble ingame weapons/items to the utmost extreme. We understand the rules, but it seems to us that there are quite a few similarities (especially in regard to the Blackhawk and a real world counterpart which has sparked this concerning note, both .44 magnum revolvers with the same exact name), too much so for mere coincidence, we think. There are other similar cases around the wiki too. We think we need to decide whether or not we risk losing this very likely true information for the sake of obtaining actual confirmation, which may not happen very soon as you know how Bethesda is about revealing information about it's games inspiration. We wanted to bring this issue to the attention of the Bureaucrats and see what their opinions on the subject are, and whether or not this would warrant a change in policy. ---bleep196- (talk) 23:39, November 17, 2012 (UTC)
