Atomic Wrangler

Yes, I'll have to agree with Clyde. The Weekly Digests are have been good. With the state the Wiki is in at the moment, and the lack of known users and administrators alike, it's been difficult to keep up with what's going on. Not to mention I haven't been very active lately so I find your digests very helpful. On another note, you've been doing some excellent work lately and I'm sure the community is grateful. He-hey, no need to apologise, pal. If I were you, I'd probably be a bit cautious too. It's hard to identify anons when we can only sign off with a bunch of letters. As for the BillyOcean thing, I'm fairly sure Clyde has already revoked his rights and removed him from the administrators and moderators page. So, even if he does return, he's no longer a moderator.

And one thing just occured to me... does GhostAvatar's bot still sit in chat these days? Because that thing records a log of all the chat sessions. If you could get into contact with GhostAvatar over at the Vault, you could review the chat session where Billy kickbanned people and maybe it will give you some clues as to what happened. Name Poll

I think the capitalized Ps in NukaPedia and GeckiPedia should be removed. Instead they should be written "Nukapedia"and "GECKipedia;" I think it makes them look the most alluring (and makes the most sense) to potential voters. Just my opinion. ---Person of Refinement 04:19, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

Getting your edit count up

Wow, yes that is kind of a bad ratio, 1500 edits, and just 100 that count for the moderator status. You want to become one then? Well, the easiest way to reach 500 in a few weeks is making small edits like grammar changes and link updates on pages. Together with those high valued blogs people are likely to vote for you. But do you think you really need the moderator rights? You can rollback with it and be a chatmoderator. Cold War Relic

Dood! One really great cold war relic? Project "Blue Peacock", a British plan to plant nuclear land mines in northern Germany in case of soviet invasion from the east. They were to contain live chickens to keep the detonation circuitry from freezing over during the winter. Lots of people have heard of it, but funny as hell at any rate. 16:30, January 4, 2012 (UTC)

Also worth noting, project A119, "A Study of Lunar Research Flights", a US plan to detonate a nuclear device on the surface of the moon at its terminator (At the point between light and dark, for maximum visibility from earth) to boost morale after the Soviets took the lead in the space race. Very true. I don't know, though, if Bethesda's claims and the court documents are true, it seems like V13 is all but dead, at least on Interplay's part. I doubt Bethesda wants to put in the money to create the MMO itself, as well. Maybe they'll get another outside company to do so, but I doubt it with the bad taste left in its mouth after this fiasco. DPS

I respectfully disagree that DPS is not a mechanic. I do add a disclaimer (and was in the process of making it more clear) that DPS was not really labelled as such pre-New Vegas, but New Vegas makes it a point to show DPS everywhere, even recommending low attack weapons against armored targets (which is a DPS-related idea). Virtually every New Vegas weapons page here also lists DPS without wikilinking it to a central hub to discuss it. (Thelee 20:32, January 11, 2012 (UTC))

I see your point about the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_weapons#Legend%7CF:NV page, but my response would be the Damage resistance or Damage threshold pages. Both pages go beyond simply saying "x% reduction" or "-x damage". More to the point, the DPS page doesn't actually recommend any "strategy" per se (mostly providing examples and the history of its introduction to New Vegas), whereas Damage resistance has a lengthy discussion on how to max out player reduction. It's a blurry line, sure, but I think DPS sins less than many other pages and can be helpful especially for people who may not really understand why New Vegas switches between DAM and DPS. Just wanted to add that I am mostly in agreement: the second time I was restoring DPS I was changing the lead to be "DPS, or damage per second, is the amount of damage a weapon does in a second. This is to distinguish it from a weapon's damage, which does not take into account its rate of fire." That's pretty much all there is to it, and if that section was transcluded into the weapons page it wouldn't overwhelm it. The rest of the DPS article is just history and examples (and plenty of other pages have provided examples). (Thelee)

I say let him create a sandbox to articulate his thoughts and words into. Once his idea is complete, put it up for a vote whether it should be allowed into the actual article or not. Admin

I feel this site is under-managed as of now. There aren't enough admins to keep an eye over things at all times. As an admin, I'll delete pages that do not fulfil our content policy, as I've caught many of the such, and protect pages that people have been feuding over or have been constantly vandalised. Also, I wish to fulfil a leadership role on this wiki, and I seriously hope you can overlook my relatively short time here. I hope this answers your questions and I sincerely urge you to reconsider.

Poll rules

I've noticed a few users have voted in favour of their own logo in the Logo Poll forum. Is this against the rules? It just seems like your own vote could pass you through if you voted for yourself. Also, as Doc Incognito said, it's assumed that by entering the competition you're promoting your logo, so there's no reason to reinforce that by voting for it too. I'd like to have my first 3 submissions removed and permission to upload new versions of my revised examples. The reason being I used Doc's avatar to generate a silhouette to create my cap and I don't feel right about it. I have generated a new cap from an actual bottlecap and revised my examples that bear a cap. I'm sincerely sorry for stepping on any toes but I needed it off my chest when I discovered Doc opposed it. Separate lines

Why? The information for each specific line is too short to have their own pages. It also makes it convenient to have all of that information on one page since you can just refer to the metro map and then scroll down to the specific area you want information from. I would almost think we should consider this a staging round due to the lack of input many recieved during the design time and the fact that a properly posted voting page like the ones they do for example best companion. The lack of input of votes clearly shows that this has to be better presented. Real dirty pool, you would rather an individual do something that should be done openly and democratically, the designs you chose were picked from the start many knew going into voting day they lacked refinement and it was only then they got input. New name, logo, background

In my experience this whole new name and logo choosing has spiraled way out of control. It's going on for about 2 months now and I'm growing tired of it to be honest. I hardly can motivate myself anymore to check up on all updates, forum threads and posts about it. I applaud you for still replying on so many messages and keeping track on everything. There's constant change and now I see somewhere they want to change the background to match with the logo. As I remember it, that was not part of the deal. Just the name and logo and I've even never had a good feeling about that. Anyway, this is stretching on forever and I don't see the end in sight, now with another suggestion from Carinth. This wiki has become vulnerable after the split without strong leaders and now a group of largely teenage kids (which efforts I do appreciate) seem to get to decide the appearance and look of the wiki. The sooner we leave this issue behind us and get back to editing, the better. That's how I feel it anyway. Tommorrow I will contact Kingclyde to ask his opinion about it. I'll have to agree with J. What started out as a fun competition for a new logo has quickly become something that just causes more conflict in the community. We have Mr. Youtube, who posts tons of logos in hopes to win and some of them even have a fighting chance, Carinth, who seems to take this far too seriously and is becoming disruptive of the process, and then we have several contestants who want to change the entire wiki. At first, I did think a colour change would be nice but now it's just getting ridiculous what with all these people arguing over it. If you ask me, we call in Clyde, get him to choose his favourite logo, and end it there. No background change, no colour change, none of that stuff. I already have it figured out. There can only be a total of 3 judges at one time needing a vote-in consensus amongst the leadership present - not the common rabble. Each judge has to trusted and with the ability to keep level-headed and unbiased towards controversy. A judge has the power to delete unnecessary comments and additions to forums/blogs/etc., and are the only ones allowed to create Nukapedia news segments. I also think it would be fitting for said judges to be called to whenever information on this site is being considered for deletion, whenever someone has been banned, judges would be called in to determine how long the duration of said ban is, and whenever disputes break out such as the one presented by Carinth. Final decisions would be made by the bureaucrats, of course. Does that sound reasonable enough? Also, I think you would be perfect for this role. ^Skål! 01:55, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Three judges so there will always be either a yes or no instead of a stalemate. Judges wouldn't actually have the power to do any of the things I mentioned, (Except removing content from blogs, etc.) they would merely be used as mediators to determine the course of action that should be taken for said offenses. As for you not being able to use such powers without becoming an Admin, we may indeed splice certain powers to our needs by contacting wikia staff and explaining to them what we feel like we need. Way too much unneeded bureaucracy. To begin with we're to have three powerless people to moderate blogs? What are they to do with insulting comments, or spam? Stare at it angrily and agree that, yes, we should probably remove this. What we want with a position like this is to have more hands moderator blogs and forums, not people to simply ponder over, and mediate, arguments and sticky situations. That's one of the roles of the administrator team.

Wikia will not splice the positions like that, and I don't see it as necessary. We'll soon have another 2 (possibly 3) administrators on board, which will decrease pressure on us few admins that are active. What you're suggeststing is just... unnecessary.

Addendum Also, the fact that these judges, who might not have any experience in editing, shall be called in to debate page deletions and so on is rather silly as it requires a certain level of experience, something that can only be gained through work on articles.
