Currency is a special variety of miscellaneous item found in Fallout: New Vegas.
Unlike normal items, currency items have an absolute value in bottle caps, one which is not altered by the player's Barter skill. These items will almost always be bought or sold for the same value per unit, regardless of who the player is dealing with. The only exception is when trade with the NPC has a discount/penalty above +/-25% applied via the ShowBarterMenu command.
Additionally, currency items are subject to a number of limitations: they cannot have a weight and cannot have a script attached to them.
Currency items appear in the MISC tab of the player's Pip-Boy, and other than the above differences are the same as standard miscellaneous items.
