Background[edit | edit source]
It is unknown what mutated these insects, but these enlarged cave crickets are descended from crickets of the order Rhaphidophoridae and the subfamily Ceuthophilinae (cave crickets native to the United States).
Cave crickets are about the size of a large dog, and use their powerful back legs to hop great distances. Their mutations seem to have turned them carnivorous; instead of being content eating the grasses throughout Nuka-World, they attack anything on sight. Their dusty brown coloration makes it easy for them to lie in wait in bushes before ambushing prey.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Cave crickets typically band together in swarms of 3-6 individuals. They aren't that threatening on their own, but when their pack swarms a target, the damage they inflict rises quickly. They are significantly more hardy than any bloatflies, and are wily creatures to boot; they hop around in sporadic patterns, making it difficult to land a hit on them
