Cito is a wild man residing in Nuka-World in the Fallout 4 add-on Nuka World.

Background[]

Originally known as Marcosito[1], the son of Marcos and Imelda, a pair of scavengers, Cito's life changed when the settlement they lived in was attacked by super mutants when he was still young. His father was killed quickly but his mother escaped long enough to write a note asking the reader to look after her son before she succumbed to her injuries.[1]

The adolescent Cito wandered for a time, eventually managing to make it to the Safari Adventure park at Nuka-World where he met the pack of ghoulified gorillas living in the primate house, who took him in and raised him like one of their own. Despite the severely limited circumstances of his upbringing, Cito still managed to grow into a healthy adult, albeit with a stunted speech due to living most of his developmental life with the non-verbal creatures.

Sometime before or during 2287, Cito was in the primate house when Darren McDermot (whom Cito remembers as "Wrinkly Man") stumbled in, dying from the injuries he suffered attempting to shut off the Nuka-Gen replicator creating an army of gatorclaws. Cito tried to nurse him back to health, but the scientist was more concerned with getting anyone to help finish his mission to shut the replicator off, giving his instructions to Cito before passing away. After he buried McDermot outside of the primate house, Cito took up the extermination of the gatorclaws to protect his second family and attempted to cull their growing number himself, a task he quickly found daunting as there seemed to be no end to them no matter how many he killed.[2]

Quests[]

  • Safari Adventure: The Sole Survivor meets Cito near the entrance to the eponymous park, fighting a gatorclaw. After going to the primate house, Cito can either be asked to follow as a temporary companion or remain in the primate house with the ghourillas. After the gatorclaws are all killed, Cito and his "family" have to be dealt with, in which one can either kill him and the ghourillas, pass an orange Charisma check to convince him to let "friends" move in while he stays, or a hard Charisma check to convince him to leave with the ghourillas.

Effects of player's actions[]

  • Cito has different reactions depending on which raider gang is given control of Safari Adventure:
    • If one assigns the Pack to Safari Adventure, Cito will mention that their colorful clothing makes him laugh,[3] and that they also "like" his family.[4]
    • If one assigns the Operators to Safari Adventure, Cito will mention that an Operator tried to teach him to use a terminal, but he got confused and broke it out of anger.[5] He will also mention that he likes their shiny equipment.[6]
    • If one assigns the Disciples to Safari Adventure, he will mention how scary they are.[7]

Behind the scenes[]

  • Cito's character, including being raised by his family of ghoulrillas, his limited speech, and his clothing serve as a reference to Tarzan.
  • The Spanish "-ito" is a common diminutive that can be used as a term of affection between parent and child. This suggests that his birth name is actually Marcos, with Marcosito ("little Marcos") being a childhood nickname used by his mother.

Bugs[]

Xbox OneXbox One Upon meeting him and choosing not to attack via interaction, Cito will become essential and turn hostile if he is attacked by the player character. [verified]
