The commander's door guard is an Enclave sentry who guards the Navarro base commander's office.

Background[]

The guard is equipped with combat armor.[1]Like most military facilities, the commander's office at the Enclave's base at Navarro is guarded at all times. This duty falls to an unnamed soldier creatively labeled the commander's door guard. Getting by this guard is an important step in obtaining the tanker FOB.

The guard is famous for two things: having a heavy weapon and not much common sense. In fact, for player characters with limited abilities, or those possessed of a glib tongue, the door guard can actually be more of a help than a hindrance to gaining entry to the commander's office.

Quests[]

Retrieve the FOB from the base Commander: The door guard oversees the door to the commander's room that contains the FOB, and they must be circumvented to gain access.

Other interactions[]

  • A high Speech skill can actually allow bluffing past the door guard by concocting a story that Enclave command ordered the character to secure the fob and bring it back to the rig. If the door guard buys the story (based on a Speech check), he informs the commander of the news. The commander, although annoyed with the unannounced change in security, nevertheless allows the Chosen One to take the fob without incident.
  • Asking the door guard about people authorized to be in the commander's office leads to a slip of the tongue mentioning a cleaning crew. If the Chosen One waits the specified time and returns wearing a uniform, the guard—and commander—will assume that the Chosen is the cleaner and allow entry to the commander's office. At that point, stealing the tanker FOB is a matter of waiting until the commander's back is turned.
  • Players who ascribe more to the forced-entry approach can find the door guard's weapon, usually either a laser rifle or plasma rifle to be a troublesome but hardly insurmountable complication. Indeed, anyone who believes themselves adequately armed and equipped to take on an entire military installation will likely suffer little at the hands of a single soldier protected by combat armor.
