Counterfeit bottle caps are a miscellaneous item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics[]

Counterfeit bottle caps are the product of attempts by counterfeiters to create new bottle caps by replicating the look and feel of real pre-War bottle caps. Physically, they appear to be identical to standard Nuka-Cola bottle caps, and the creators intended them to be used for trading in their place. This is not possible however, as the Courier is able to instantly identify them as counterfeits, and they have no value. While the caps seem to be perfect replicas visually, it is possible the creators may have failed to copy some of the tell-tale features that make a bottle cap genuine, a common issue for counterfeiters.[1]

Location[]

Cap counterfeiting shack - 18 can be found on a table in the shack's basement near various empty soda bottles.

  1. The Courier: "What makes a bottle cap genuine?"
Alice McLafferty: "Lots of little things - the paint on the label, the machining, the metal it's made of. I know there's counterfeit caps floating around, of course. Fortunately, they're very time-consuming to make, so the numbers are small."
