Cram is a food item found in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

Cram is processed meat that was produced in large quantities before the War in easy-open pull tab tins. In their distinctive blue tins, they were meant to address food shortages in the United States as well as provide a meat ration for soldiers serving during the Sino-American War. Because of Cram's long shelf-life assisted by excessive preservatives, it's still edible over 200 years later and is useful to both survivalists and NCR troops, who can be found with Cram as rations in Fallout: New Vegas.[Non-game 1]

Characteristics[]

Cram restores 5 Hit Points but also gives a small amount of radiation in the form of 3 rads. In addition, it is used in the recipes for caravan lunch and fire ant fricassée.

Variants[]

Locations[]

  • Cram can be found inside various houses and buildings throughout the Mojave Wasteland, both placed in the world as well as inside containers such as refrigerators.
  • Multiple vendors sell Cram, including traveling merchants.
  • There are four boxes inside the Vault 21 canteen.
  • Dr. 8 at the Big MT will give a male Courier two boxes of Cram, in addition to two rolls of duct tape if they choose a dialogue option alluding to the items.[1]

Notes[]

  • Even though this food item is depicted as being packaged in a box, there is a weapon that implies there are other Cram products sold in cans. In Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, Cram is later depicted as being packaged in cans.
  • A male Courier can inform Dr. 8 on the creation of a marital aid using Cram. The Courier elaborates that they usually find a can of Cram, apply duct tape to the lid and are "good to go".[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Cram's presentation is a parody of Spam, down to the same style of packaging and font. In Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, it was shown to come in a cardboard box, instead of Spam's signature tin can. In Fallout 4, its container was changed to a tin can full of the meat substance with a pull tab to open the container, further likening it to its real-world counterpart.

Bugs[]

PCPC When you hotkey Cram, it shows up as the Guns sign. [verified]

The tin, with an easy-open pull tab, helps keep the contents preserved for long periods, making Cram more useful for survivalists and those scavenging for food"
