The Cram Opener is a unique weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics[]

Compared to the standard bladed gauntlet, the Cram Opener deals higher damage per strike as well as greater critical hit damage. It has higher durability and a similar critical chance multiplier and AP cost as well.

Visually, the weapon has a darker color scheme both on the leather gauntlet and the scrap metal blades.

Locations[]

The weapon is initially located at Camp McCarran, found on Little Buster, a soon-to-be-retired bounty hunter residing there. He can typically be found sparring with a practice dummy in between a truck and the camp's tents on the south side of the area, close to the doors of the terminal building.

If Three-Card Bounty is later completed by killing the three Fiends leaders and bringing their heads to Major Dhatri, Little Buster will leave the camp and go to Freeside, via the north gate. After one or two in-game days, his corpse can be found around the railroad tracks to the left of the Old Mormon Fort's entrance, where the weapon can then be looted.

Notes[]

  • As of patch 1.3.0.452, like the standard variant, the weapon no longer ignores Damage Threshold when attacking.
  • It is possible to obtain two copies of this weapon by pickpocketing the first from Little Buster's inventory while he is alive, then looting it from his corpse later after completing Three-Card Bounty.
  • Without trying to pickpocket the weapon from him, there may be a second copy of this weapon in the inventory of his corpse.
  • The weapon's name references Cram, a pre-War canned food that can also be found in-game as an aid item, as well as a play on "can opener", a common household item used to safely open canned goods.

Bugs[]

  • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 This weapon has the icon of a melee weapon when you assign it to the D-pad, even though it is an Unarmed weapon. This also happens with the regular bladed gauntlet.[verified]
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 If worn while entering the interrogation room Silus is being held in during the Silus Treatment quest, the model will still be shown on your hands. This will continue after you have been returned your weapons, no matter what you currently have equipped. This also happens with the unique unarmed weapon Recompense of the Fallen and boxing tape.[verified]
