I've been cooped up in here for weeks. Turns out the runaway daughter I came here to find wasn't kidnapped. She's Skinny Malone's new flame, and she's got a mean streak.
”— Nick Valentine, Fallout 4
Darla is a runaway girl encountered at Vault 114 in 2287.
The dame Nick Valentine was sent to find, who turned out to be a wannabe femme fatale, except without the necessary luck. Darla was charmed by and convinced to hook up with Skinny Malone, cutting off ties with her family. Problem is, Skinny is not even half the man he professes to be and her parents were, in fact, correct, when they warned her against hooking up with the Triggermen.
Interactions with the player character[edit | edit source]
- The player will usually have to whack Darla while coming out of the Vault, but if they talked to Mama Murphy and gave her some jet, they can learn the passphrase that will give them a chance to leave peacefully. This will also complete Nick Valentine's job.
- If The player doesn't have the pass-phrase mentioned above (or doesn't care to use it), then they have a chance to persuade Darla to either leave (medium) or provoke her to attack Skinny (hard). Some Grape Mentats (+5 Char) beforehand give an edge. Convincing her to leave also gives the player the option of leaving while Skinny counts to 10. Provoking Darla to attack Skinny will not stop the Triggermen from attacking however, but it will just make the exchange shorter. Of course, while they're gabbing - during their intro - the player can place a bunch of mines around them and turn them into paste as soon as they twitch. Stepping back is advised!
- If the player skips the speech challenges with Darla, they also have a chance to win over Skinny with a speech challenge. They can provoke him to attack Darla (medium), or ask him to end the matter peacefully (medium). Again, if the player provokes Skinny to attack Darla, they will still be targeted by the other Triggermen. As with the above, a bundle of mines given freely while they're gabbing during their intro evens the odds.
Darla appears only in Fallout 4.
- ↑ Darla: "I'm going home to my parents. Screw those low-life gangsters."
"Some man Skinny Malone turned out to be. Hmph."
"My parents were right. I should never have gotten mixed up with people from Goodneighbor."
"Screw Skinny Malone. Who needs that big galoot anyway?"
"What a mess I got myself into."
