|For the various forms of alcohol that appear in the Fallout series of games, see alcohol.|
It does the job, but it tastes like paint thinner and I feel like I'm going to die if I stop drinking for a day. [...] Drinking other booze doesn't cure the sickness like his.”— Bill Ronte, Fallout: New Vegas
Background[edit | edit source]
Peddled and made infamous by Dixon, this poor excuse for whiskey is designed to be extremely addictive, dangerous to quit drinking, and extremely cheap to produce. It has come to be a blight on all of Freeside.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Dixon's whiskey is a low-quality variant of whiskey. Compared to normal whiskey it has double the penalty to Intelligence (-2) and lacks any Charisma bonus, but its most important (and hidden) difference is its increased addiction rate; Dixon's whiskey causes alcohol addiction at a rate of 50%, compared to whiskey's 10% chance of addiction.
As with most alcoholic item in Fallout: New Vegas, Dixon's whiskey is affected by the player's Survival skill, both its positive and negative effects. At higher skill levels this is particularly noteworthy due to the increased penalty to Intelligence: with a Survival skill of 100 the player will receive +3 Strength and -6 to Intelligence.
Effects of Survival skill[edit | edit source]
|10||+1 Strength, -2 Intelligence, +30 Dehydration||60||+2 Strength, -4 Intelligence, +55 Dehydration|
|20||+1 Strength, -2 Intelligence, +35 Dehydration||70||+2 Strength, -4 Intelligence, +60 Dehydration|
|30||+1 Strength, -3 Intelligence, +40 Dehydration||80||+2 Strength, -5 Intelligence, +65 Dehydration|
|40||+1 Strength, -3 Intelligence, +45 Dehydration||90||+2 Strength, -5 Intelligence, +70 Dehydration|
|50||+2 Strength, -4 Intelligence, +50 Dehydration||100||+3 Strength, -6 Intelligence, +75 Dehydration|
Whiskey Rose[edit | edit source]
Whiskey Rose is a perk provided while Cass is serving as a Companion in the player's party. With this perk the penalty to Intelligence for consuming any type of alcohol is eliminated, as are the effects of alcohol addiction.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- Rose of Sharon Cassidy may mention Dixon's whiskey during the quest Heartache by the Number if challenged to a drinking contest, referring to the beverage with disgust.
- The Courier: "Why don't you stop drinking?"
Bill Ronte: "Drop drinking?! I've been drinking for a straight month! Listen, I've tried to stop, but the withdrawal symptoms are so bad I feel like I'm going to die. I can't stop now."
(Bill Ronte's dialogue)
- The Courier: "How can you afford so much alcohol?"
Bill Ronte: "Dixon sells me booze dirt cheap. It does the job, but it tastes like paint thinner and I feel like I'm going to die if I stop drinking for a day. I swear that guy is trying to kill me, but what can I do? Drinking other booze doesn't cure the sickness like his."
(Bill Ronte's dialogue)
- The Courier: "I'm not going to offer money, I wanted to drink for it."
Rose of Sharon Cassidy: "[SUCCEEDED] You challenging me? Serious now. All right, you come here, armed with whiskey, we'll make a sport of it. And none of that radioactive shit, I'm talking whiskey, not Dixon Whiskey - whiskey."
(Rose of Sharon Cassidy's dialogue)
