You seem to be in nearly perfect health. That will be $10 for the examination.

Doc Morbid is the doctor of Junktown in 2161.

Background[]

The main (and only) doctor in Junktown, Morbid is a surprisingly competent doctor. Though located in an old garage, his hospital is fully equipped with tools and medical supplies necessary to save lives, including anti-toxins and radscanners (though Morbid cannot treat irradiation on his own). He is quite professional in his dealings and is willing to share his expertise with other students, as seen with Razlo from Shady Sands.[1]

Of course, no one is perfect and Morbid is no exception. If someone refuses to pay, the normally professional and calm doctor reveals his unpleasant side quickly, as his bodyguards, Flash and Cougar, explain the folly of not paying what is due and take the debtor to his underground lab for "processing": The doctor is an "entrepreneur" who operates an underground butcher shop, where human body parts are prepared by him and his dwarf assistant Gretch. These parts are then packaged and shipped to Iguana Bob of the Hub, for the production of "prime choice select."

Although he takes pains to hide his side business, rumors about him "dealing in the dead" circulate on the caravan trails.[2]

  • An examination costs $10. Refusing to pay causes him to attack.
  • Note that when badly wounded, the price to heal the Vault Dweller can be 500 caps (or more).
  • The Vault Dweller can discover his little side business. See section below for details.

Quests[]

Blackmail Iguana Bob: Morbid has been selling "iguana meat" to Iguana Bob. As part of an optional objective, the Vault Dweller may kill Morbid, Cougar, Gretch and Flash.

Other interactions[]

  • Enter the basement and then talk to Morbid, and he will accuse the Vault Dweller of trespassing. If the Vault Dweller tells him to wait and then claims that he is more powerful than them, he will offer a deal, in which, should the Vault Dweller agree, an eye will be removed, dolling out the Eye Damage status effect. This can be healed with Doctor. Apparently, the Vault Dweller's eyes regrow.
    • Speaking to him again afterwards will cause him to become immediately hostile.

Notes[]

  • Lacking an in-game description regarding his appearance, all that is known of his appearance comes from a piece of concept art by Leonard Boyarsky.
  • When heading to Junktown on a caravan route, the caravan driver sometimes says "Hear some odd doctor is out that way. Deals in the dead, so they say."
