Donkeys or ass (Equus africanus asinus) are a domesticated beast of burden and companion that has worked together with humans for millennia.

Background[]

Some mules or donkeys survived the war, serving as labor on farms.[Non-game 1] A man named Irwin will share information with the Vault Dweller about his donkey, Pugsley, who was killed by raiders.[1]

Notes[]

As a companion, when idle at the Boston Airport, Codsworth mentions that he has not seen an airplane in "donkey's years," using an informal British idiom that means "in a very long time."[2]

Appearances[]

A deceased donkey appears in Fallout, and donkeys are mentioned in Fallout 4.

I have a small farm outside town and a few days ago a bunch of Raiders appeared out of nowhere and now use my home as their camp. They killed Pugsley, my donkey and they threatened to kill me if I ever dare to come back.}"

Non-game

  1. Fallout Bible 8: "1)Did horses (in any form) survive the Great War, within the area of California? Arguably, I imagine that if they did, horses would begin to replace cars as the main mode of distance transportation."
"Nope. Some mules did (the poor mule killed by the raiders in F1), but not for long. Besides, I think that mule was a discrepancy."
Note: The mule that is being referred to in F1 is Pugsley and is actually a donkey
