The excavator is a vehicle found in the Mojave Wasteland.

Characteristics[]

Excavators are heavy construction equipment consisting of a bucket and cab on a rotating platform. The platform sits atop an undercarriage with tracks or wheels. The machines are used for hauling large amounts of material from place to place.

Cable-operated varieties are found throughout mining operations in the Mojave. The Quarry Junction mining operation utilizes several of these excavators, setting explosive charges to break up the material, then moving it onto conveyor belts, into dump trucks, or transferring to a dragline.[1]

Locations[]

As these vehicles were used for heavy lifting before the Great War, they can be found in and around pre-War construction sites and quarries, such as Quarry Junction, that has many of the machines on each of its tiers. One of the excavators at the entrance is marked with a warning, alerting those who come near that the area is infested with deathclaws.

Appearances[]

Excavators appear only in Fallout: New Vegas.
