The Incredible Hulk
- The image for the perk Mutate! is an allusion to Bruce Banner and his alter-ego the Hulk.
- The image for the perk Bonus HtH Damage is an allusion to the Hulk's anger and strength.
Cooter's death by booby trapped Interceptor is clearly a reference to both Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Wherein Max Rockatansky sets an explosive device to to his Pursuit Special "V8 Interceptor" and Max's vehicle should anyone other than himself try to access its fuel tank.
Marines we -are- leaving!
This special encounter features humans as essentially, batteries fueling a robot empire, as in the movie. However in the game, rather than being hooked up to equipment that harvests the natural electrical impulses of their bodies, the 'Human Batteries' are running on treadmills while a task-master robot oversees the entire operation.
During the Newton mission you are required to speak with Albert Lamore, an ambassador of the Reaver Movement. During your conversation Albert speaks of the great entity known as Satansoft. This is reference to the computer company Microsoft. The pun is rather fitting, as Bill Gates has been accused of being the Anti-Christ in the past.
During the Newton mission you are required to speak with Tobias Peste, a scientist-priest of the Reaver Movement. During your conversation Tobias mentions a Heaven-like paradise known as Panasonica. The name is a reference to the electronic manufacturing company Panasonic.
'Morte'; The sarcastic, abrasive, floating, cowardly, witty, glowing skull with a New York accent. Well, so he isn't a Talking Head, but he had a New York accent in Torment.
Tobias Peste mentions a person by the name of Saint Sony who visited him during his 11th day of fasting. The surname is a reference to the Sony corporation.
- Diesoon and the robotic arm in Rock Falls mission are references to Miles Dyson from Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
- Hydraulic press in Great Bend mission is the reference to the similar press in The Terminator.
- The B1000 Terminator Brahmin special encounter is a reference to the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
