Feral Ghoul Reavers are one of the toughest enemies in the game, more than twice as durable as Sentry Bots or Deathclaws The Reavers are extremely quick, and their lunge attack can send the player sliding back some distance with every strike. Their blows, like a Deathclaw's, tend to pack quite a punch and even high level players are prone to being crippled quickly and killed in short order if not careful. As with all fast melee enemies, the Dart Gun is highly useful in dealing with Reavers. Players can also cripple the legs to counter their speed and drastically reduce damage taken from the Reaver. Their radioactive gore easily cripples limbs and is almost always thrown with deadly accuracy. Reavers seem to be highly perceptive as they (unlike Deathclaws) can detect even high-level players in Sneak mode wearing the Chinese Stealth Armor. The Ghoul Mask is very helpful as they will not attack you if you are wearing it. Similar to glowing ones, they emit radiation in large quantities.

Locations
Multiple Reavers can be found during "Who Dares Wins" in the Presidential Metro and in various places around the Capital Wasteland if the player character is of high enough level.

They can also be found in Point Lookout, most prominently at Turtledove Detention Camp, Jet Crash Site, and Ark & Dove Resting Grounds.

Feral Ghoul Reavers can appear in Fallout 3 prior to the main quest being completed if the Broken Steel add-on is loaded. Franklin Metro Utility, in particular, will be filled with them at high levels. They can also be found in Taft Tunnels during the Waters of Life quest if the Lone Wanderer is of a high enough level as well as in the Museum of History during the Head of State quest. Several can also be found in the Dunwich Building.

They can also be found in the Mothership Zeta, in the Cryo Lab, in a room with an alien turret, several aliens, and many cryo pods that contain ghouls and raiders. Some of the ghouls can be Reavers.

You can also find one fighting an Albino Radscorpion and a Giant Radscorpion.

Notes
* There is one non-hostile Feral Ghoul Reaver located in the Holy Light Monastery named Atom's Champion.

* Upon close inspection, Reavers' skin appears to "bubble" and other times, "burn", emitting slight radiation and letting dark green 'smoke' billow out from the scars on their bodies. If such a Reaver is killed by a critical hit from an energy weapon, the 'smoke' will even persist on the green goo/ashes.

* Feral Ghoul Reavers have no swimming scripts or animations, so they walk underwater.

* The radioactive gore they throw at you can and will cause ruined cars to explode.

* The radioactive gore can also be targeted with VATS and shot out of the air (or the ghoul's hand) much like conventional grenades.

Fallout: New Vegas
The Feral Ghoul Reaver returns in New Vegas, but is nowhere near as potent a combatant as the Fallout 3 version. Instead, it is more comparable to the other feral ghoul classes. Their HP in this game can vary; at lower levels, they are merely slightly stronger than a ghoul roamer, and is weaker than a Glowing One, but higher level variants can have a maximum of 400 HP. They no longer possess the radioactive gore attack, and their lunges do not cause much knockback. However, this is somewhat made up for with the introduction of several additional types of feral ghouls which are more powerful than any of the returning ones, such as the Feral trooper ghouls and the Vault security officers from Vault 34. There is also the unique Vault 34 Overseer, a boss creature who is comparable in health to the original Feral Ghoul Reaver.

Bugs
* pc Feral Ghoul Reavers may become invincible for a short period of time. While they can be successfully targeted in V.A.T.S, all shots fired will miss. If this happens, shoot for the legs, or make use of grenades. To detect when the ghouls are invincible they will begin shaking vigorously. Be careful they are nearly impossible to outrun and inflict much damage even on low difficulties.

* If a Feral Ghoul Reaver is killed while invincible, their limbs may be stuck in mid-air. Such as when a body clips in a wall, but instead there is nothing there.

* It is possible to get a split-second appearing message that tells you that radioactive gore can be picked up. The message is the same one as for objects shot out of the Rock-It Launcher.

* ps3 Sometimes when the Feral Ghoul Reavers throw radioactive gore, it won't explode, and will keep throwing it, making them easy to kill.

* Sometimes when they are throwing their radioactive gore, quickly go into V.A.T.S and target the arm they're throwing it with. Doing so sometimes makes it disappear or get stuck to their hand and they won't throw another one (they'll just run up and attack you, but if hit, you'll feel the effects as if hit by the gore).

* xbox360 Occasionally, if you knock down a Reaver with the Victory Rifle, they might have a physical glitch, and fly across the map.

* ps3 If a Feral Ghoul Reaver is killed using A3-21's Plasma Rifle (or any Plasma Rifle), and the Reaver disintegrates into a goo pile, then sometimes they have the same green aura that they had around them before they died.
