Forum:Creature stats

A bit of a follow-up to the character stats thread. Currently, creature stats are not in the infobox, but in a separate template. Which makes sense for Fallout 1 and 2, which have lots of stats (and which was the reason for splitting these from the infobox in the first place), but I think that for FO3 and FNV, given that there are only a few actual statistics, we should move them back to the infobox (on game-specific pages, of course). As for Fallout 1 and 2, I think that maybe we could put the most important statistics (e.g. DR/DT, AC, AP, HP, CC), while keeping the detailed stats in a separate section. What do you think? I dunno. On one hand, it makes sense to have it in the main infobox, but on the other hand, it's more noticeable in its own table. It doesn't look bad the way it is, to be honest; it doesn't detract from the flow of the article, and makes character pages immediately recognizable. --Kris User Hola.jpg 16:35, November 25, 2010 (UTC)
Another thing to consider is that with the narrow article area, the stats table is now often clashing with the infobox. Ausir(talk)
I suppose that's a point; but for me at least, it's another reason why I use Monobook rather than Oasis. Still, my personal preferences shouldn't be taken into account for design decisions, but rather the wikia default which is Oasis. --Kris User Hola.jpg 22:24, November 25, 2010 (UTC)
What stats are we talking about for FO1 and 2 creatures? Skills, SPECIAL, all that? Why don't we just do what we did on pages like John Bishop or Lil' Jesus Mordino, and cut the creature stat template entirely? (Though this might not be such a good idea, considering the stats of little geckos would vary wildly in 2...) Nitty Tok. 01:14, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

I think Nitty has a point; the infobox seems to be the natural place for this kind of info, especially since the creature infobox isn't exactly overcrowded (if people weren't using it as a sort of mini-gallery by adding lots of images to the footer, it'd usually consist of 2-6 lines). If the primary concern is that it'd get too full for FO1/FO2 creatures, we could consider either reducing it to values which have ingame bearing (I doubt the barter skill of deathclaws is of interest for a lot of people, for example) or put those less relevant values in a collapsible section (while that option is not supported by our current infobox template, it will be available with my Duke-Nukem-Forever-esque new one). Either way, I think we should get away from using table-based templates on pages with infoboxes; they just don't work with the FaceWikiShack skin. -- Porter21 (talk) 13:15, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
