Forum:What kind of settlement would you create?
For me Id probably create a sociaty in the remnants of Navarro. I could find and fix old Enclave gear that was destroyed and fix the old buildings. Hiring gaurds to patrol the perementer, i would lead scouting missions out into the wastes to find old pre-war scamatics or gear that i could fix up and use. Using the Veribirds i fix at the base i would fly over the wastes trying to help people find a home. I would go for a Vault City kind of sociaty but without all the pasifists. So yah...
I would have a cluster of settlements around the Narragansett Bay to Achushnet River banks between Rhode Island and Massachusetts that would form the beginning state of a new nation out of the wastes. Port towns ad cities would include Horseneck, New Bradford, Hopkinton and South Sanctuary. Capital city would be Sanctuary in the ruins of Providence Rhode Island. Two terriories would emerge, the territory of Rhodes and the territory of Massasoit. Rhodes is more economic, cultural, and government while Massasoit would be more family values like, small business, and bottom level jobs like agriculture, fishing and merchant. The government would be heavily republican and the constitution made so no loop holes can happen. Coastal settlements would have a Colonial architecture, small inland towns would hae a Federal style architecture and the cities using alot of Art Deco and 1960s' and 70s' Modern architecture. It would be a New California Republic society, being heavily military and domestic. A sense of patriotism will spread.--Zachattak471 21:02, June 8, 2011 (UTC)
I'd never realized this until last night, but if one could get the resources to do it, Point Lookout would make for an excellent community - not the whole place, mind you, but the area centered around Pilgrim's Landing. From what I can tell, the buildings are mostly intact, and every time I look at the signs there, I find myself going, "dammit, now I'm hungry." Granted, in order to get even half the food that was advertised before everything went straight to hell, you'd have to import a lot of the raw materials. On another note, since it's located on a pier, it'd be somewhat easily defensible - you'd only ever have to worry about Swampfolk coming in from the mainland, and the odd tribal or two from Ark and Dove, but fortified gun positions would handle that. Additionally, the lighthouse would serve as an excellent observation post - on a clear day, I'd imagine you'd be able to see all the way to Ark and Dove, and if you had guards with binoculars keeping a lookout, you'd be able to spot trouble before it ever reached you. One last point about the lighthouse would be the light itself - if guards did see hostiles incoming, they could use the light as an alarm of sorts. Titan AEX4 15:03, June 9, 2011 (UTC)
With some mass yield hydroponics, and other arcology necessities which paranoia could breed, and the latest pre war technology, possibly an engine that uses the sea itself, I think a mid 20th century style transatlantic oceanliner (you know, those glamourous black luxury liners) out at sea when the bombs dropped could be a good survivor settlement, little chance of attack, easily defendable (due to being not that much bigger on the seas), requiring repleshishment only of the gene pool, though I'd imagine the tech would be a target (via any method diplomatic or aggressive) of the BoS. I would personally build a settlement on a old oil rig of the shore of Mexico, this way we could have a small, self efficient community. We could also sail to shore to gather supplies, and if lucky, we could have some means of air transport like a old plain or Vertibird. We would be away from harm and could most likely travel a considerable distance if we had some sought of navel vessil, like a oil tanker or cargo ship. I would call my settlement Sea Haven. The only issue would be that the over crowding of the oil rig and we would have to stem the amount of people on the rig. Tales from the Fallout 11:13, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
I would start a confederacy of towns based on self governing citizens. each town would elect two representatives to a federal council( and one president of the council selected from the capitol) who would deal with the entire nations issues. each town would have a governor in charge of its affairs, independent of others in almost all ways except under times of emergency and by overiding veto of the federal council or 2/3 vote of the cities population. each town would develop its own customs, form its militias, trade, and decide common law. the federal council would acquire new towns by voting in willing towns, creating them with federal revenue, or by annexing land from outside federal borders by military force. new towns would be considered Italic textsocii until earning a spot in the government. some larger cities or small nations can be granted Italic textimperial immediacy. my nation willl begin in the ohio-kentucky-indiana areas and spread wherever civilization exists. An independent country where you live how you want. JimmyDreznaut017 22:41, July 21, 2011 (UTC)
I would create a settlement similar to Andale combined with the Tenpenny tower and some other pre-War buildings.
