You deal with Ghost People with ruthless efficiency. When you put them down, they stay down.— In-game description

Ghost Hunter is a special perk in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Dead Money.

Obtaining[]

This perk is rewarded by talking to Dog any time after recruiting him during Find Collar 8: "Dog" (choosing Dog over God) and then witnessing him killing and devouring one of the ghost people. Choosing the option "I watched you devour one of the ghost people" leads to a dialogue chain that includes a 6 Intelligence skill check, but it is not necessary to obtain the perk.

An alternative method is to follow a dialogue path that requires the Cannibal perk which rewards the perk as early as right after letting Dog out of his cell in the Villa police station.

Effects[]

  • Ghost people are much more likely to die outright, even without being dismembered or disintegrated. Once this perk is in effect, when ghost people are reduced to zero health, one of their limbs will explode automatically at random.
  • The perk cannot be obtained if one chooses to make God the controlling personality and never talk to Dog, as he is not scripted to devour ghost people and thus the dialogue option never appears.
  • The perk is rendered obsolete upon leaving the Sierra Madre as ghost people are not found anywhere else in the game and it is impossible to return to the Madre after completing the add-on.
  • The perk effectively overrides Dog's usefulness as a companion as it confers a similar benefit to his Ravenous Hunger perk while allowing one to obtain Christine Royce's or Dean Domino's slightly-less situational perks.
