Grafton Lake is an unmarked location in the Toxic Valley region of Appalachia.[Non-game 1]

Background[]

An artificial reservoir created by the Grafton Dam, the lake was once a local attraction and recreation spot. Now, it is a pool of toxic sludge, due to the violation of safety standards by Grafton Steel before the Great War.[1]

Layout[]

The lake is surrounded by Grafton Steel, Grafton Dam, and the Pioneer Scout camp. There is a boat launch, beach, and swimming pool area to the south. There is a building that houses restrooms and showers, behind a lounge area of beach chairs, umbrellas, and pre-War detritus. Several creatures inhabit the lake area, including mirelurks and multiple variants of radstag. Cars line the road surrounding the edge of the lake, some of which are towing watercraft.

Notable loot[]

Potential recipe - On the east bank of the lake, near the outflow pipes from Grafton Steel, inside of a makeshift shelter built out of a mirelurk shell.

Appearances[]

Grafton Lake appears in Fallout 76.

  1. Fallout 76 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide pp. 314–315: "40. GRAFTON DAM
Route 92 to the north of Morgantown crosses the remains of Grafton Dam, on the border between The Forest and Toxic Valley. The irradiated waters of Grafton Lake are being held back by the intact dam wall. The actual dam structure is much more dilapidated and usually overrun by Super Mutants, though this was once a Brotherhood of Steel compound.
Getting into the dam building may be tricky, as the three exterior doors are all locked tight (3). Drop off the northeast exterior balcony onto the large outflow pipe with the skeletal corpse hanging from it. Sneak inside this way. Once inside, head to the ground-level gantry and up two more floors (watching for traps and foes); head to a series of blue metal maintenance huts on the gantry."
