Behind the scenes

Icon cut content.pngThe following is based on Fallout New Vegas cut content and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

At some point during development, Hawkins was to be placed at or near Quarry junction on top of one of the conveyor machines away from any Deathclaws stalking him. Once the deathclaws that was stalking him were killed, he would try and con the player into giving him money to return home. Apparently he was cut as his quest was more low level fodder yet would need end game tier abilities for the player to actually complete.[1]

Though the content of the dialogue has been removed, the names of the options point towards a number of details about Hawkins and his intended role. Hawkins was associated with the Powder Gangers, either being one himself or having worked with them. He was also to be searching for Samuel Cooke, though for what purpose is not known. Finally, Chomps Lewis factored into the player's interaction with Hawkins, based on a dialogue option named QJHawkinsTalkedToChomps. Whether this refers to Hawkins or the player talking to Chomps is not made clear.
