Dr. Hein was a pre-War scientist working with Dr. McDermot in the cloning facility underneath the Welcome Center in the Safari Adventure zone. He was one of only three people allowed access to the cloning facility when under a full security lock-down.[1]

Background[]

He was constantly under conflict with an animal activist group known as the Animal Friends and Defenders. In early 2077, his Chryslus Corvega was vandalized and filled with manure by the group. Under assurances from the security team that the A.F.A.D. would no longer be a threat, he found a few weeks later that "Stop the torture!" was painted on the security door of the cloning facility.[2]

Around 01:00 on October 23, 2077, the day of the Great War, Dr. Hein received a phone call that he was needed at the Angry Anaconda to treat an injured escaped animal. Under the assumption that it was made by an employee, he proceeded to the construction site.[3] In reality, the call was made by the A.F.A.D. to lure him out in a protest against the cloning that took place under the Welcome Center. He was then held hostage by at least four members of the organization, including Chipmunk, Rabbit, Robin, and Mouse.[4]

At some point, the security team was alerted to the A.F.A.D. breach. A full security lock-down of the facility was initiated, and employees were prohibited from going near the Angry Anaconda construction site. Rather than inform them that there was a hostage situation, the security department passed it off as an issue with the stability of the structure.[5] When the bombs fell, the situation had not been resolved. Hein and his captors all perished from either the detonation or the resulting fallout.

His skeletal remains can be found in a cabin on the Angry Anaconda site.

Appearances[]

Dr. Hein appears only in the Fallout 4 add-on Nuka-World.

Behind the scenes[]

Dr. Hein's remains are a reference to Curt Connors, an antagonist in The Amazing Spider-Man, as they both are missing an arm. The gatorclaws also resemble the Lizard, which Connors transforms into.
